I love your method of teaching! You make it fun and easy to learn. So do you plan on continuing with Music Theory Part 2? Hint hint 🙂. You are the best!!!❤
Very happy that you have included the clapping/manufacturing of the rhythm. That connects me with the material strongly. Also I enjoy the bite-sized lessons with loads of review.
Bernadette, I've confused myself on Time Signatures again but I think I've had a breakthrough so here's where I'm at now. Does this sound correct? I understand the bottom number gives us the note we will use to create the Measure. If the bottom number is a: 2 = Half Note - (1&2&). 4 = Quarter Note - (1&). 8 = Eighth Note - (1) Said other ways (2 = 1/2 Note, 4 = 1/4 Note, 8 = 1/8 Note) or (2 with 2, 4 with 4, 8 with 8). The top number tells us how many times we use that note to determine the number of Beats per Measure. 3/2 Time = three Half Notes (1&2&-3&4&-5&6&) or six Beats per Measure. 4/4 Time = four Quarter Notes (1&-2&-3&-4&) or four Beats per Measure. 6/8 Time = six Eighth Notes (1-&-2-&-3-&) or three Beats per Measure. Is that it? Once we determine the Beats per Measure, we can put any number or size of Notes or Rests (Whole, Half, Quarter, Eighth) in a Measure so long as they total the same number of Beats per Measure. So to answer the thread I started on Day-16 about what would the "Island Strum" look like in music notation, I would say the answer is this: We would use 4/4 time because we need four Beats per Measure for the "Island Strum". To get the note pattern correct I would use in this order: 1-Quarter Note, 1-Eighth Note, 1-Quarter Note and 3-Eighth Notes barred together. That's a total of four Beats. Does that sound correct? Love to know if I am finally on the right path. If not, please point me in the right direction. Thanks :)
@@BernadetteTeachesMusic WooHoo!!! Gotta love the small victories. Still enjoying all your hard work putting this series together. It's a lot of fun :)
