Wait, really? I had no idea! I knew about the sending of money by mail as I mentioned in the video, but I didn't know anything like this was in the game. Is it only in the PTU?
@@XenoCow no it is on live, i dont know how you access it because i have only been on the receiving end. a corp member needed some ores from me so they sent me an invite which appeared in chat and it opened that menu which i could use to give them my ores

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think that everyone should post videos to alt-tech places too, personally. They make it very easy to do. I am not a fan of TH-cam's policies and massive market share. I also know that some people don't like to watch videos on here if they can avoid it.
@@_vr Even if they deliver on all they promise for the test universe, we will probably see significant waves peaking after patches and then dropping off dramatically until the next. Hopefully the first test universe patch will raise the baseline to a playable level and the first live patch to an enjoyable one.
Sad we aren't getting the holograms for stations like we did in the closed alpha, one of my favorite memories is actually dragging built objects into hologram areas and watching them snap in, or taking a handheld printer and printing it via the ore. Thanks for the video Xeno!
23:55 Absolutely hilarious that they called buying storage ships a "blatant exploit" as if that's the real problem and not that they've given us horrendously limited storage space (not to mention ZERO organization options) in a game that requires ridiculously massive amounts of materials in order to accomplish anything noteworthy, and no in-game option to expand it (i.e. no CHESTS? Really??) I really hope they follow through with these updates and that the game comes alive again, because I love this game, but I'm getting terribly bored after spending 750+ hours in this empty universe.
I'm not sure if Lauri is referring to the storage ships or the use of multiple accounts to increase storage. Either way, you are right. I think that the plan for inventories moving forward is to require, and allow, the construction of physical storage on stations and capital ships. I hope so too. I am very eager to see what the developments actually look like in action.
I really want to see a ship editor overhaul. As a newbie to the game, the complex ship editor feels incredibly fruatrating and time consuming to use. Its been suggested that something along the lines of From The Depths would work well, at least in terms of placing large amounts of blocks, i.e. walls and windows. I don't like spending several hours building a cockpit just to realize I spent half the time fiddling with panels and cables. That is my biggest issue with Starbase at the moment, but the vast majority of well rounded features otherwise makes me very happy. So glad this game isn't abandoned.
From what I hear there is a medium difficulty mode being considered so that players can use the main editor but not have to deal with all the fiddly stuff if they don't want to. However, I think that the first patch is targeted at giving experienced players a reason to keep playing and then subsequent patches can address the new player experience.
It is. I know that even when I have gone in to make an ugly ship that just does what it needs to and nothing else, I end up spending at least 10 hours designing it.
I'm in the same boat, played on and off since launch and while I've made some ships, I do find it very time consuming. I should honestly just spend time making more templates to save me more time.
It is unfortunately niche. I think between coming out when there were a few other big name space games, plus an overblown hypetrain in combination with a rushed release due to the financial issues/over-optimism on the devs part has been a recipe for low player numbers. The handful of programmers working on it now should be more sustainable for the company so that we might at least get to a beta 1.0 kind of state which should have enough to do to promote some more players.
It should be. I don't think there were any bugs that killed stations and even after siege gets added stations in the safe zone should be safe as far as I am aware.
I think at the very least, they will finish up the features that they have been working on. I think continued development after that will be dependent on how much the game earns from sales of new copies and from the planned cosmetics shop. So, we should at least be getting a workable game loop that gives people a reason to play the game. Hopefully it will be able to generate enough income to allow for more development after that.
Yeah Glorious Space Armada for the win! We coming back boys! We are definitely looking to capture territory, and secure our borders! Any ship that's got that magical Worlds Adrift theme to it can fly by us any day!
as great a solution player designed navigation is/was, I always felt that it was a stop gap solution at best. it did not fit the backstory of the game. how the heck did we get to eos without starmaps?
Agreed. I think it's awesome that players were able to program a tool so powerful with such limited in-game resources. Hopefully whatever comes next will also allow for many more fun and interesting player-made solutions to problems.
That's great to hear! I'm sure your playthrough will be helpful for those that are either also new or curious what the early game is like from a beginner's direction. If there are any particular tutorials you'd like to see, feel free to suggest them here or even just send me a message in-game or something. :)
So I'm just listening to Nation stuff and I had an idea they might listen to you more than me but what about the ability to buy passports at border stations that will grant entry to national space way and when you have said pass port next time you don't have to do all the validations
Maybe, I don't really know how influential I am with the devs, I don't think they've ever even commented on any of the suggestions I've made on the forums.😅 In any case, are you thinking about just for capital ships? The current plan for nations is that normal ships will be able to pass through borders while just being "detected" but unallied capital ships will be unable to enter except during sieges. I do think it would be interesting to have some sort of passport system that can be used to let players through with some confidence that they are safe to enter while also giving opportunities for blackmarket passport trading.
Great video xeno, thanks man… so excited that it’s back in business. I have a passion for this game like no other in history… so I have a couple things I want to ask, one of which might throw some shade on myself… I was banned a few years back over some dumb/immature stuff I said to someone in the discord over emotional debates about the game. I know they don’t have CMs anymore.. at least I think… and I haven’t seen the official server in quite some time, but badly want to return to be a part of the support. I still play, of course. I wondered if they would do something about letting people come back. I haven’t gotten word from my emails, guessing it’s because no community managers on the receiving end. Or maybe they just don’t like me. Surely those things can be forgiven over this amount of time I’d hope… also, I’m curious about balances in the game to kind of eliminate distasteful metas so that way these smaller fighters can be more viable. For example, the knight and spatha ships one of the devs worked so hard to make, and they are so so nice. Stuff like that, I’d like to see viable in a certain role, of course, as well as gun ships. I know they have spoke in the past about materials having strengths and weaknesses in the future.. some being more heat resistant than others. Maybe different weapons having different impacts on the plates.. of course, with this, we would want to limit plate spam of having sandwiches of plates.. unless it dramatically reduces speed, which brings me to my next concern about meta.. the walls of thrusters. I’ve heard Lauri has a plan about handling that from an outside discord from the official.. I would just love to see the game more friendly to rp type ships, even jn pvp. Wanna see a ship the size of a spatha with like two weapon systems able to contend with a bigger elitist current meta min maxer. If not just completely add new mechanics that get rid of that meta all together. So that way it’s not who’s square is bigger with more guns. any thoughts or seen any details from the devs? Thanks man.
I don't know what you can do about the Discord ban issue aside from maybe contacting one of the moderators in-game through the whisper or mail system. As you said, I don't think there are any dedicated community managers on the Starbase team right now, just developers. The developer Kai (KaiFB on Discord and in-game) does do some support stuff, sometimes, though. Meta wise I don't know if we are going to see any balance changes for the first main patch, but the CEO has mentioned some ideas about big changes to the damage system in the future. Hopefully that will give combat vehicles of many sizes and strategies a role to play. Some of those changes might involve making armor much weaker, or at least that seems to be what he was hinting at as an idea. I don't remember hearing anything about thruster walls besides an acknowledgement of it being an issue.
@@XenoCow alright, thanks for the reply, man. And I’ll give that a shot I guess. And yea, changing the damage model might help some. Guess we will see. But good to know they got it in mind.

Yeah. It's a bit surprising since that kind of blueprint tech was already done that they wouldn't reuse it.
