    Hi, great video! What do you recommend setting your rates at?

    Hello i flew mine with 3s 2200 it flies but crashed. What battery and size are you using?

    Nice Video! I find the FT build videos lacking some crucial info, for instance Josh's build of the power pod, with the ESC on the bottom of the pod, and the battery leads up inside the pod, then on his maiden he mounts the battery to the bottom of the power pod, that really confused me.... I am always looking for new ideas, on my maiden last Friday, it nosed in and ripped the two skewers on the motor pod down about 1/2 inch of fuselage, like your great idea to just glue it in place.... Also the landing gear got forced into the bottom of the fuselage, any suggestions on strengthening that area?
    Thanks, Joe

      Thank you for the kind words, Yeah I completely agree on that note about the build videos. Sometimes it leaves you confused and you mess it up. Gluing the power pod is a really smart move, it really strengthens the fuselage altogether, and I find the FT Swappable initiative pretty impractical because the power pods tend to rip out and vibrations occur. Yeah, the landing gear is one of the weak points on these planes. If you can, I would also apply a healthy amount of glue to the tab and permenantly connect it to the fuselage. Like the power pods, the "friction fit" of the landing gear tab tends to wiggle loose and destroy itself on impact. I would also recommend strengthening the joint where the landing gear wire leaves the fuselage with glue, that will rip out pretty easily. It doesn't look the best, but I would also recommend using a BBQ skewer or a popsicle stick and gluing it right behind that joint, preventing the wire from eating into the fuse. At the end of the day, Just using lots of glue to reinforce the area is the main suggestion. Thanks for watching!

      @@CustomFPV Thanks for the prompt reply!! I have to admit I am a little nervous as to how to glue the power pod in and IF I got all the electronics installed correctly, as once its installed (glued), I think I am some what locked into the setup.... I installed my elevator / rudder servos in the back near the existing hole exits for the push rods (I built a mini scout and didn't like how the Servo push rods wires bowed when excess pressure was applied to them), but they are still too far forward, as the control wires bow too excessively for my comfort... I like your setup a lot more, with servos further in the rear... Thanks for the suggestions on the Landing Gear, just need to figure out the mechanics of how to strengthen them without adding a bunch of weight... and yes the Landing gear has already tore up my fuselage!?! I see in the Simple Scout Video that your not a fan of the cub... do you like the scout a lot better! Best Regards.

      Yeah, you kinda have to commit to it, so you may elect to run it not glued in until you finalize it. I do like the scout better, the Cub flew but the scout was way smoother and more predictable.

    How do I lower the rates? I just built mine and about to maiden tomm. I am using a crossfire receiver with a servo adapter and a Taranis QX7. Thanks for the videos

      I normally set up the rates in the transmitter, but you can also do it on the pushrods themselves. For higher rates, move the pushrod out on the servo arm and in on the control horn. For lower rates, move the pushrod in on the servo arm and out on the control horn. If you wish to do it in your transmitter, go to the "inputs" tab in openTX and there you will see a 100 on each of the channels. from there you can click on the channel to edit it and adjust that as a percentage. Hope that helps!

      CustomRCMods thanks! In the inputs tab I see 100 for weight, is that what you mean? I also see a setting for expo in Inputs tab, should I just use that? The FT website suggests expo of 30

    • @CustomFPV
      @CustomFPV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep! You can treat the 100 like a percentage, and turn it down for less rate. In that tab you can also adjust the expo and personalize your curve. Thanks for watching!

      @@CustomFPV Thanks, read this a little late and maidened mine into a tree. Time to build again. So depressing...

      No worries, only a few bucks of materials right? a store bought plane would have been absolutely heartbreaking. Keep your head up. I did the exact same thing when I first got into flying and there is a video of it on this channel. I quickly found out you need much less rate than you think, especially on the roll axis. Let me know if you have questions or need help with anything!
