      😂😂🤣 Yes, the official unit of measurement for the capacity of an old Jag boot was by how many bodies you could fit in it👍

    I was worried when you bought a donor car because usually they get mistreated, but it was just to swap interiors, very nice work to match the interiors between the Jags, this model series had some pretty shocking body/interior colour combinations from the factory and customers usually didnt match them so its nice to see that done

    • @TransamObsession
      @TransamObsession  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, the donor car had been a South African import, it had no history and had been repainted Ford white, was originally racing green, was still green under the bonnet. There was not a lot of value in the car and I’d got it cheap, so didn’t feel too guilty swapping the interiors out👍

      @@TransamObsession theyre very nice interiors, lots of parts and components on the front seats alone, i retrimmed mine into green leather for my car that i documented on my channel. Hopefully the parts car found a good home!

      @@cutcat8437 I’ve seen some of your videos before, really enjoyed them as I still have a big soft spot for these old jags. Just watched the one with your seats👍I actually wired a USB panel into the back of the passenger side seat, was quite discreet but you can see it in one of the photos. Good little upgrade for rear passengers.

    My Dad's business partner had one of these Jags from Brand New here in Australia. I remember riding in the back seat as a small boy and was fascinated with the rear wood tray table. I have always loved the shape of this car.

    • @TransamObsession
      @TransamObsession  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they were great cars, never as popular as some other Jags but that was due to the size, although it was intended for the US market👍

    Aged really well I think and looks great with it's new interior. The logical successor to the MK IX. I'm surprised how elegant and classy it looks, as I said it has aged very well..That engine, assume 4.2 ltr on triple SUs would have given the old lady some get up and go back in the day. A classy cruiser in some luxury and at half the price of a Bentley.. Sounded really suite.

    • @TransamObsession
      @TransamObsession  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, it was the 4.2 with triple SU’s, effectively same engine and running gear as an E type. Was one of the most comfortable rides of any car I’ve ever had, including modern cars. My dad had one when I was young so I always wanted to own one myself. Was a lovely car👍

    It's a Jaguar 420G. The Jaguar M10 same model yet earlier version that started life in November 1961 with an E-Type 3.8 engine.

      Many thanks, yes I saw my old white one on Mathewsons too. It was a shame to use it as a donor car as it had potential, but it was a South African import with no history whatsoever and had been repainted in Ford white, was originally racing green. So I’d got the car really cheap👍

    I always loved the Mk10-420G since I was in short trousers when they came out. I have tought about buying one several times and I had intended to do an engine swap for the Daimler 4.5 V8. So what happened to the J reg car, I guess it now has a grey interior? Enjoy.

    Not so sure about the LED lighting but I actualy wonder what this car would be like compared to my late series 3 Daimler double six . I would expect that the ride and handling would be nigh on the same with a tad more interior sound level but would love the chance to compare .

    My dad bought a 420G when l was a kid in 1973/4. To this day l would love a 420G. However, l have had a few XJ6's, two XJS's, an XJ12, two modern S Type V6's and two XJ8's. Just bought my latest XJ8 yesterday.
    You old 420G, a beautiful car that you should have kept. Even that donor vehicle would be worth a few quid.

      Thank you for your comments, yes they are beautiful cars and I bought these as my Dad also had one when I was a child, so it was nice to have owned one myself. As much as I loved it, I just missed my American cars too much, my love for those also a result of my Dad having them when I was younger. My brother has a really nice XJ8 supercharged which he bought off my Dad, and I would at some point love a pre HE XJS, again another car my Dad had when I was young. Enjoy your cars👍

    Almost perfect, just the door mounted mirrors instead of forward mounted wing mirrors need doing.

    • @TransamObsession
      @TransamObsession  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree, they look better on the wings, but decided to door mount them as for me it provided better usability. It had no mirrors at all when I bought it and they’re big old cars to manoeuvre, so it was personal preference really👍

    • @rondye9398
      @rondye9398 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my minds eye the wing mounted mirror disrupts the curve of the wing and profile of the car. Just personal to each I guess!

    Dated looking even when new. Tiny windscreen/windows like something from the 50's.
    Real good looking cars came from Europe, especially Italy.
    Don't Jags spend most of the time on the back of breakdown trucks?
    Great interiors though.

      😀Yes mine spent a bit of time being recovered from the roadside. Got it all running nice then sold it. Dated in some ways, but a very smooth car to ride in,. My preference is American cars personally, had a couple of Italian cars in my time but they tend to dissolve when it rains😀👍
