    Yes! My favorite channel is back in action! I was literally just telling someone the other day about your trip and how inspiring it was to me. It's great to see that you're doing well and that you seem to be enjoying the paramotor we left off with last video. Can't wait for more videos and to see your future adventures!

      Ahhhh i wouldn't say it's done I just have had a hard time justifying the time necessary to edit the 5tb of footage I shot even though some of it is pretty awesome. I've been focusing on my business and other things which I may actually make some videos about.
      This is encouraging though maybe ill fire up the editing rig and work on it. One step at a time! Thanks for saying that I appreciate it

    Thanks for the video about the pants! Might go for these, because there are some cheap deals online. Will also look at some mesh pants :)

    Thanks Solo, love your channel and thank you for your honest reviews. I actually bought the Andes v2 set on the back of your revit review and I’m glad to hear your good experience with the pants. You didn’t mention anything on the protection though as they are only level 1 compared to the sand 3 jacket which is level 2. Any thoughts?

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey great point. Well considering my natural attraction to incidents, I would throw a higher level in the knees of ANYTHING because both my knees took a beating in 2019. Left in Guatemala, right in Peru. The revit is definitely a stronger garment, but 1.5x the cost and I think all in, the Andes is good enough for most.

    Love the reviews! Now I need a review of the gloves. Buying some new ones and considering the Rev'it Sand gloves. Do you have a quick take? As you say, a lot of overviews, not many reviews. Thanks!

    Hey Ben, got any tips for the getting over the Darrien Gap and general motorcycle/gear security? I'm planning on taking my Suzuki DL650 on a similar trip down from BC in a few months.

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Security wise best not to leave things around too much though that was really never a problem for me.
      If you do anything but a 5 day cruise through the San Blas islands via sailboat re: Darien gap you are missing out big time. Was one of the highlights of my trip. I went with wild card sailing but most operators shut down during the pandemic so I have no idea who is operating now.

    Did you have a waterproof liner for when it rained? Or are the pants themselves waterproof?

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those have a liner but it's kind of a joke. It's just a little thermal add-on. I'm not sure how they advertise those exactly but they don't have a rain liner and they kept me 50% dry 50% of the time.

    • @danielq4411
      @danielq4411 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SoloSouth Thank you. One more question, did you wear them in temps around 90 degrees? Would they be too hot in those temps riding in the city at speeds of around 35MPH to 70MPH?

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@danielq4411 I was around that temp all the time and they were fine. Never took them off, and only had the stupid liner in when it was super cold in the Andes or in Patagonia

    Hey.. are those pants can be worn over the Forma kind of ADV shoes? like can it cover over the shoes ?

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are a 30 (I'd guess they are all the same inseam? like a 32ish) and I'm a 29 normally, fit me a lot better than the other ones I have tried on.

    If you had to do this trip again, what bike would you take and why? Thx.

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After a lot of consideration and owning my dream bike (ktm 500 exc), I would take the DR650.
      reason being that it's just the best bike for the route, at a price that won't destroy you and it's durability is outstanding.
      Bring fork seals, a complete clutch pack (also leave with a new one in the bike unlike my dumb ass), chain and sprockets, and you should be good to go for the duration!
      Mental prep is worth 2x the physical gear prep, though not as fun. I was my own worst enemy, your demons will really try to come out after a year of being alone with your thoughts.

    Any updates on the new setup? Would you still recommend this level of gear (personal) and protection for most riding?

    • @SoloSouth
      @SoloSouth  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I've been having too much fun in Miami. I think this is all still accurate for touring but I haven't built the new setup yet, need to dump a few grand into the KTM first
