How breathable is Drystar? Manufacturers typically describe the waterproof breathability of fabrics using two numbers. The first is in millimeters (mm) and is a measure of how waterproof a fabric is. In the case of a 10k or 10,000 mm fabric, if you put a square tube with inner dimensions of 1” x 1” over a piece of said fabric, you could fill it with water to a height of 10,000 mm (32.8 feet) before water would begin to leak through. The higher the number, the more waterproof the fabric. The second number is a measure of how breathable the fabric is, and is normally expressed in terms of how many grams (g) of water vapor can pass through a square meter (m2) of the fabric from the inside to the outside in a 24 hour period. In the case of a 20k (20,000 g) fabric, this would be 20,000 grams. The larger the number, the more breathable the fabric.
There are different levels for Drystar depending on the specific jacket or pair of pants. For the Andes v2, it's 4000 for breathability and 7000 for waterproofing. -DrewZilla
Hi. I have just got the Bogata 2 jacket which is great. I really like that I can take the thermal and water proof membrane out of the Bogata for summer and going into warmer countries. Question: What Alpinestars textile trousers have a removal thermal and waterproof liner as well as air vents in the legs? Thanks!
Protection is only a bit better on the Andes pants, but the quality is also higher. If you have the budget, I'd go for the Andes pants, but if you only have about $150 to spend, then go with the Telluride pants. -DrewZilla
If you want maximum ventilation for hot weather, look at the REV'IT! Cayenne Pro Pants and Rukka AirAll Pants. They aren't waterproof though. If you want mesh pants with a removable waterproof liner, look at the Rukka 4Air Pants. For waterproof pants with a non-removable waterproof liner but with direct air vents at the thighs, then look at these Andes Pants, Klim Traverse Pants, Klim Carlsbad Pants, and Klim Badlands Pants. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-cayenne-pro-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rukka-airall-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rukka-4air-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-andes-v2-drystar-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-traverse-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-carlsbad-pants *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/klim-badlands-pants
You should be able to open and close Velcro strips above and below the armor that determine the armor height. The stock position should be the middle position. -DrewZilla
@@barrett2942 Eventually got it. Had to stick a camera up the leg ;) There's a couple of different pockets for the armour, maybe 3/4" above/below. Its tricky but once you figure it out it's all good.
Since these are intended for adventure touring, the lower pant legs need to be wide enough to fit over larger adventure boots. Additionally, the pants are a bit longer, so that there is still adequate length when knees are bent in the riding position. -DrewZilla
Had a 50/60mph crash slid down the road in these pants and they held up well good pants

Applause 👏 for the standing man.
How do you use the hip protectors in these pants? I don't see a pocket for them.

How does this compare to AGV sport telluride textile pants? They seem to have about the same protection.

Would these zip up properly on the Valparaiso 2 jacket? I actually like the styling of these better than the Valparaiso 2 pants.
Will it take D3O Ghost hip and knee armor?

Thanks
Very likely XL for you. -DrewZilla

Over regular jeans/pants or stand alone pants?
These are regular riding pants, not overpants, so they'd probably fit a bit tight over jeans. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla need also some over pants for my comutes to work
@@RevZilla I saw a video of somebody who used these as a overpants. So it is possible
Would these be too hot in85+ degree weather?
Yes
No
maybe.
lol.
I have these pants , how the hell do you adjust the knee pads ?

does it have a 360° zipper?
It's more like 270 degrees, but it's the standard zipper length that Alpinestars uses. -DrewZilla
Why are the lower legs all bunched up at bottom? That's not good when you're riding a motorcycle :-[
