Is a Gibson SG Junior worth buying?

I have one. I ride the volume and tone controls on all my guitars and I was still surprised at how versatile a single P90 is. You really do get a lot out of where and how hard you play with the picking hand in combination with the controls. A guitar like this is freeing, like you say, but I think it also makes you connect to the guitar more intimately to get the tones you need.

On Robert Baker’s channel there’s a recent episode showcasing a tech workshop in Nashville that fabricates a bridge solution for these and Juniors. Speaking of. How do you stack up the LP Junior and these? Both are “Gibson affordable”, but still a hunk of change for almost an essential niche guitar. We all want an SG, LP and DC Junior. The DC’s are ridiculously priced,.. so between the SG and LP Juniors, which one and why? (And head to head with an affordable Esquire?….) . I get a kick out of your pronunciation of Ma(hagg)ony! And you dropped like 3 F Bombs in the first 2 minutes so I’ll have to tune in for more unfiltered opinions! Thanks

Yeah i just thought about that. Especially when you consider the price. Did you do anything for tuning stability or did you not have any issues with that?
@@riowolfhart No, right now everything is stock. The only need is a pair of locking studs because the bridge started tilting. I don’t want to change the entire bridge, I like the simplicity of the lightning bridge and I’m not a intonation freak, especially with a guitar like a JR

@@ziggamaras Yes i´m sure they did. But i dont care about neck dive. It just does´nt bother me . With some SGs its really really bad, but here it´s really ok.
You have to be really good to get different tones out of a guitar that's as straight forward as that.
Single P90 pickup with 1 volume and 1 tone control.
That's for players with skill and technique. Nice demo.

There is more room for adjustments than you think.
Doesn't have to be Gibson. Just get that P90 in a cheaper SG copy and turn it up
