mine will not do anything it allowed me to make a new partition but will not let me load a new os system from bootable disk or cd or dvd that came with it or the snow leopard dvd so how can i get a system on it to start up again... is there another way to install a operating system without using the media forms mentioned

Then white apple & progress line. Then gray screen with my screen icon & pw request. I click to enter pw then it goes to dark screen then starts having sets of white lines going up screen, then back to black. It will let me sign in as a guest user, but my apps and info not there (of course). Any other suggestions before I take it in to Apple? Just found "SafeBoot" in red in upper right corner??? Help!!!

Since I've updated, my iMac is asking for a password and the keyboard now isn't working either. I've always logged on without a password. The light flashes on the keyboard when I press button on the side, but all the keys aren't working. I just changed to new batteries also.
Mines is a different problem I’m locked out from my admin account because the only screen that appears from startup is the guest user and it needs a password any ideas thanks.. when I boot I hold options it allows me to reset my admin password but on startup it goes right back to the guest user login no admin appears,..my daughter did something I have no 💡

@Duct Tale no man :’( the hard drive corrupted or something along the lines of that. So I’d have to take it somewhere where they’d rebuild the OS from the bottom up and that shit is like 500+ bucks :(
sorry that did not work for me either. I have 4 IMac with the same Issue. All 4 lights on the board are on. AHT pass on both. But no os, no usb os. no anything. White screen on all. NO firmware restore is posible. All ram is good I have no idea what to do.....
Anyone having this issue.. hold the keys and power button on the screen AT the SAME TIME.. it’ll automatically start the startup screen.. I had to step away for a couple hours. And for some reason my hands led me to do this 😂
If you press the option (alt) button and hold it during startup, right when you press the poweron on the backside of your computer, you should get the start disk screen. If it don't work try again. It worked on mine after several attempts, and it is old, from 2008 so 10 y old. Mac. I got the main desk and a backup which I don't have tho, it was an external hard disk that don't work anymore. The problem is a tired internal hard drive and too many files. I tried to clean it but it couldn't take the heat. There is some pics I want to get and I'm gonna get them. I'm older than my computer, I'm over 50 and I'm gonna find it out :) There is a lot of options on using the keyboard during start up, just look for it :)

I have a 27'' 2019 i9 mainboard that is locked. Just so you know, nothing here will unlock it. Would you happen to have any idea how to unlock a locked MB? When I boot the machine, an Apple icon appears, and then a few moments later, there is just a big LOCK with the option for a password.
