This only works for models from 2010 or older. On these models the firmware password is stored in the NVRAM, and on later models it's stored in the EFI (which does not get altered by doing this method) :)

Yep, I was like number 500.I liked quite a few things in this video. The main content was very straight forward and presented in the clearest way possible. You did it very good, Alex. My brother and I are still pretty undecided if we want to get rid of the bios password Firmware or leave it there so my bro (9) can eventually play games, for they say that when you remove it boot camp goes to the birds. In any event our iMac is 2015 (Monterey) with 4 Ram plugs-in. We have 3 questions: 1) Do you replace the same plug-in you took off or use a different one, a new one for instance? 2) You seem to install high sierra, is that the system you already have or you upgraded it from Mohave, for instance. Sorry for the long message. If you answer me I will jump head first to that raffle. Does my iMac keeps the monterey system or all that gets erased? Thank you.
I do not replace any plugins. I do like to install the newest MacOS as possible on each device, (NOTE: Trying to make each devices useable with the newest Mac OS). So I have a Catalina installer on a USB stick I use to install the Mac OS, its the newest I have right now, but its a Patcher so it will upgrade device that normally will not take the newest MacOS. So if you erased the system (AKA MacOS) you will have to have a USB with the MacOS to reinstall the system the MacOS. If you have a newer model device, you might be able to download right after erasing the devices.

Um so before i reset my macboom pro's ssd there was a Mac efi partition. I deleted it and idk what to do now it still asks me a password...

So apparently if a managed device has a lock it is not released from the system I do believe you may get this issue I'm not sure under percent if yours is locked by management but if this process did not work that's normally the case for my issue

You have to make sure the ram is lined up in the correct area, I believe your talking about the ram cover not fitting correctly after reinstall the ram?

If this video didn't work for you then you're device may still be under management or lock so the methods may not work if.
HI Alex! I have windows 7 installed in my Imac 2011 AND no macOS at all. I have high Sierra boot USB ready. When i followed the steps given in your video to remove firmware password and press the ALT + WINDOWS LOGO + P +R . The 3 sounds doesn't beep at all, instead it took to me "windows 7 safe mode" .. any suggestion?? how to resolve this issue. Thanks
Sounds like you're trying to boot from The High Sierra bootable USB so what's you're going to want to do is power off your computer completely make sure your USB is plugged in push the power button on the computer and hold Alt until a menu pops up and it will allow you to pick your USB to boot from

TRY THIS FIRST.
Power on your mac while holding ALT. (For boot Select)
Select your High Serra Bootable USB.
If you still cant get into the Boot select you will need, A Windows USB.
Okay I understand that Windows 7 is installed on your device.
Do you have a Windows Bootable USB?
(This would help to format the HDD before Windows bootloader boots.)
You need to format the drive then reinstall the MacOS.
So after the drive is formatted, you can turn your mac back on and hold ALT.
(ALT will let you pick you boot device.)

thank you. i bought an older imac from someone on facebook marketplace and got ganked. this video was able to remove the password and i was able to remove the non working windows 10 they had on it.

Yes, you can use any keyboard you have. Replace the apple button for the windows button.
I received back my imac after it was “stolen” by ex, I locked it and now cant bypass firmware lock. It’s the smooth version unlike your video. Will this method work on it as well? Hopefully you can help with this description..

You can go ahead put the same one back in and if that didn't work just take it back out repeat the process eventually you should come across what i'm talking about in the video

Hello thanks for the great video. I've tried it but ir did not work but my issue is slightly different. Actually I called a fake Apple Support and gave my Imac serial number other the phone for an issue after the last update 14.0 they asked me 39 euros for the help and asked 200 to reset my computer, told them I have to think about it but suddenly my Imac is locked with a pin code,. They keep calling to ask if I still have my issue, I have no proof but the timing match too well and I did never set this pin. Now I have a locked Imac with all my data and cannot do much, it was a second hand imac and I'm not even sure if I can go to Apple store without the original receipt, all this sucks and I cannot get rude if this pin, maybe you have a solution? So basically, if you cannot remove it using my methad, then the device maybe locked from the management of where are we got from? When we clear, our devices, management will still show up. But when we remove the management, they have unlocked it for us to do so. So if they have not removed it from your device. Then you still have to ask them to remove it, and then you can remove it.
That only works on devices up to 2010. All models above 2010 have to have EFI reprogrammed.
