"sogno" is Italian for "dream", but you have to say the GN as the Spanish Ñ, you don't hear G and N as dry and hard sounds, but one GN soft sound..... anyway, it's a dream! :)
I see a few comments that say roughly “unboxing doesn’t matter” or “oh no Crin doesn’t like the build so its not luxurious enough” But they continue to miss the point. The design of the iem is gorgeous, it looks great and appealing without being too poppy with a lot of color. The full resin build, although it might feel cheap for crin, some might prefer the full resin as it can be way smoother than metal so its more comfortable. The unboxing experience is a part of convincing you that IO cares about you without sacrificing the sound. Its like them outright saying “holup, you dont need to buy new tips, new cable, new anything. We gotchu homie” because some people would buy a 300 dollar iem, buy some new matching cables with certain terminations, more comfy eartips or something to change the sound, but IO wants you to just enjoy it out of the box. Now, but what about the sound? Are they a slouch on it? No! Its a crin approved iem and he has stated the sound signature with its pros and cons. He wouldnt approve it or would at least say its an iem more similar to 200 dollar iems and say that its just outright for the unboxing experience but no he hasnt. At that price, it surely is the most luxurious but at the same time according to Crin, at least greatly tuned for the price. Is the luxurious unboxing worth the price? For me yes cause I wont have to buy anything else. Is the unboxing part of their marketing? Of course its their gimmick to standout in the chifi space. But as I said, their target is not the “I want best sound just sound” people, but everyone else who considers other accessories that are necessary.
They're not missing the point, they're making the point, which I think you missed. The price could go down if they don't waste time with over the top packaging which maybe could have gone to improve the build quality of the iem itself? And anyone in this hobby knows that outside some VERY few iems where their gear is actually top notch, you'll still be replacing the tips and the cables anyway. Could not care less about the packaging. It's just a waste of money for most people.
@@squidikka you quite literally didnt bother reading the last paragraph, I acknowledged that its not for people who just want the best sound, but its for people who considers the accessories. It saves you quite a lot of money if you persay come from an iem with a different pin type. It already is Crin approved therefore it has at least great tuning and according to him, resolution as well. The accessories and unboxing is just a cherry on top. Its meant to be luxurious. It overall makes you say “Wow I’ll buy again!”, sure lets say they cheap out and give barebones accessories and cut the price by 50. What makes them standout? Who would go out of their way to buy a new iem from a new brand? A lot of new iems follow meta target, what seperates them from each other? A lot of iems follow the harman target? What makes it different from each other? And for IO, the thing that made it popular is how extravagant they make their unboxing experience and accessories.
1. "Accessories" you can buy separately and of higher quality. 2. Sound is all that matters at the end of the day, you will play around with accessories for a week and forget about it. 3. At this price point, you start to see Knowles/Sonion drivers at the very least. I/O goes all in on accessories instead and uncreative safe tuning.
You just know that the guys at I\O are Civilization VI fans, as the Theme for that game is "Sogno Di Volare", (The Dream of Flight - Christopher Tin) Damn good track to test your IEMs btw. :)
Tbh, I'd take a full resin build, especially one as gorgeous as this one, over something with a mixed-material build - having fx metal faceplate and resin inside just ends up feeling a bit cheap/fake and makes me concerned about splitting. Now a full metal build would be really nice - though the comparative concern there becomes comfort...
@@studynowPHyeah but to be fair Crin was saying he “expects metal” around this point; also, to the point of the Dusk and what it’s longevity may be, resin adhesives better to itself than anything else soooooo there’s something to be said about that, resin-composite material IEMs (like the DUNU SA6 series with their wood panels) often experience issues with their fancy backings; in all, all resin is better than resin and something for longevity, even if that something may be carbon fiber (especially if the brand gluing them together is Moondrop, god help you, just look at what is happening to people’s Variations nowadays, mine are falling apart after light use and all my other IEMs are in excellent condition)
Honestly I prefer resin builds, they feel good, smooth, cohesive, and light. As long as it sounds good then I’m happy. I have a full metal set and I hardly ever use them. I use my Hexa and Phoenixcall way more often. Now just have to wait impatiently patiently wait for my Variations, Timeless, Z12, and Explorers. Whats another $400 for these 🙃
Really glad that you guys are listing the pricing for the IEMs now. I do wish you would list the pricing to other IEMs you compare it to as well though (the Volare here). Also would be nice if you added time stamps/chapters for unboxing, build, sound, conclusion or so
Yeah, the store lineup being the new "list" is what they're implying. Crin originally introduced the Hangout Audio store lineup as being stuff that would get at least one value star on the previous ranking list.
can you test it with an ohm adapter show is the squid if what frequencies it might affect it? it might boost the bass like your zero lineup. or make it worse or do some weird thing in other frequencies
no, his new way of "maintaining" it is that every iem in his store is above a certain rating, just watch first video on this channel and last video on og crin channel
Is it weird that a fancy unboxing experience turns me off of an IEM? I'm just not interested in spending money on a bunch of accessories, paper and plastic I don't need. Put the value into the IEM itself!
Yup. I don't get why people would care that much about the unboxing. It literally takes 5 minutes or less and doesn't affect the sound quality. I would rather the unboxing just be OK and functional if it meant it was $20 cheaper or whatever. Unboxing is fun in the moment, but really who cares after having the IEM/headphone after a week, a month, a year.
Tiandirenhes have become my favorite cheap IEMs. Everything comes in the protective case and that's put in a small plastic bag but that's it no box no anime card no packaging at all really... for the price they have the best builds imo, not everyone will like their sound signature. I want to try their planar next, it's like 50 bucks and the most neutral tuning of their products.
Accessories are a way to show respect to customers + improve the experience when using the iem itself. R&D + material cost only go so far. Having better tips also makes a huge difference. My moondrop s8 with stock tips hurt my ear immediately, but using divinus velvet tips makes it comfortable
thanks for mentioning the whole "made in china" negative bias, as if every product manufactured in china has some kind of built-in quality reduction, it's ludicrous and should be criticised

Are you planning on reviewing the XENNS Mangird Tea PRO in the future?
I like resin more than metal , It is just more comfortable when inserting.
damn that cable material and braid is exactly the same as SoftEars Volume. Terminations look a bit different tho
Inawaken Dawn is a sub50 that deserves attention.
I wouldve loved an iem bluetooth adapter in your store
Banger thumbnail, king 👑
I would say the unboxing experience of the Tangzu XuanWu Gate is also top tier, even better than the Volare (and the build quality is amazing).
Thoughts on EPZ?
What would you recomend between the ioaudio sogno and the xenns tea pro?

Lighter and doesn't conduct electricity. My computer sometimes will transmit electricity via iems
paints on metal chips. I much prefer resin or resin with metal faceplate
these damn chi fi names are something
They'll one day fight with JP Light Novel titles
No upper treble though :(
its not sog no.. its sogno.. like gn in bologna (sogno means dream in italian)
variations with less bass and less treble extention? for 400? is it really that much better than nova with bass boost in eq?

This thing has a resistance of 2.8 ohms , is it true? Can it be driven with budget dongles?
Ive been working on research involving I/O device for a while. This name confused me when i first heard it lmfao
High-end E20, is it not?
Please do best iems under $50
how is this compared to dusk?
If you like metal should check the xenns mangird tea pro
how do you sanitize the headphones and iems after people use them?
We disinfect tips with alcohol swabs at the end of every use.
