Great video. I would say that many locals love the festival though. Maybe I am lucky in that I don't live right in the centre of Edinburgh and I don't have to commute to work. Seen a few really good shows this year. Paul Foot, A Comedy of Operas, Breed or Bust, Mr and Mrs Love and Hysterical are some faves so far. Also, if a show is sold out on the Fringe website, sometimes you can find tickets at the website for the venue, or at the venue. Also, last minute tickets are often released, or check on the day of the show. I managed to get a ticket to Paul Foot a few hours before the performance on the Underbelly website even though it had been sold out for a few days.
