Portishead deserves so much more attention and appreciation than it receives. Thank you for this one. The entire "Dummy" album is worth checking out if you enjoyed this.
Nice. We couldn't be there because my wife was getting late in her pregnancy. I did joke about calling our daughter Rose, after the Roseland gig, and my wife was genuinely thinking about it. In the end we called our first born "Dummy" after Portishead's debut album, haha. No, I'm joking. Still wished I could have been there, but over time my bank of fond memories has expanded. I even like the ones filled with poop and nappies. In retrospect, of course. :)
Portishead are an iconic band, and alongside Massive Attack are two hugely influential bands to come out of the Bristol scene at that time. Beth Gibbons has one of those voices - so emotive. Whether you react to it or not, please listen to the entire "Dummy" LP, as it's perfect (and then listen to "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack as well!) You can thank me later. 🤣
You mentioned that violins are your favorite instrument. I have a recommendation that will make you very happy. It's intense and beautiful. From Vivaldi's, "Four Seasons". Norway's Mari Samuelsen is the violinist. And the season she'll be playing is "Winter". It's one of my favorites. I could include a link, but some automatically block comments that include links.
Thank you so much for Portishead, please, do more! 🌀🌀🌀🙏🙏🙏

You should really listen to the album version on speaker, that bass will rattle the room, whole album in fact
I'm with you. I'm a sucker for violens.
Their performance of Strangers in this show was phenomenal.
from the same city....Massive Attack go on, you now you want to
Have you heard Brandi Carlyle - The Story? I bet you'll cry.
Great concert, anything from it. Their Glory Box is gorgeous and they sampled the late great Issac Hayes . ❤
Such a good pick - thanks for this!
portishead a fine British band. Portihead is a suburb of the wonderful city of Bristol 👏👏👍👍
Always loved how she seemed to sing as if in pain, and her posture amplifies that. ❤
Interesting....
