That's sweet, I have a similar setup, but in a 65 fury 3 sedan. The 383 seized, so I put a cammed 440 into it. I think yours is a whole lot better condition though
She is a work in progress. They are neat cars. People today don't know what a full size car really is.They are huge.It goes down the road sweet. I like Fury's a lot but have always been an A-body man. Lots more room here for a big block than a Dart though. Love to see yours.
@Bob Chapman I don't have a walk-around video, but I do have a video of it idling. I'm just getting into old mopars, I've always been a fan of the Daytona/Superbird because of how cool they look. I traded my first truck, a 2003 nissan frontier with 215k miles, for it last year, but I'm 19, so I obviously don't have superbird money. th-cam.com/video/mWa1sYU0Gf4/w-d-xo.html
Are you happy with this cam? I see it’s marketed for lower compression 440’s but seems everyone is happy with it. How’s the street manners of it? Vacuum good to run power brakes? Thanks.
I have been super happy with this cam. It drives very well. All I do is cruz-ins and drive to shows with it.No drivabilty issues for me.Starts easy hot or cold. Pulls very nice.It really turns heads at the stop light with its lop.No bog or hesitation taking off. I have a stock converter in it and maybe I wish the stall speed was a bit higher but very livable as is. Pretty sure Manifold vacume is down but Never put a guage on it to check as I have manual brakes. Sorry this doesn't help you much with your question.
I was more worried about max timing so I set it at 34 degs total, full mech advance at 3000rpm,No vacume advance hooked up.Stock distributor with light advance springs.I don't remember what actual timing was at idle.I could have a look for you if it stops raining. My concern was detonation but so far haven't heard any even on a 85 deg day.
, are you running stock torque converter I have this cam I was wondering if I need to put a 2500 or higher stall converter I have a Mopar performance intake manifold 850 elderbrook no porting on the heads stock 452 heads
I have a stock converter in mine. As lopey as the idle is it isn't horrible. It runs smooth above idle and pulls very nice.I also have 452 heads. I got the recommended springs that went with the cam and degreed it in as instructed. I think 2000-2500 converter would make it better and I would love to try one. It would launch better with more stall.I have a 750 summit vac sec carb and super happy with it.I have had poor luck with edelbrock carbs. They will start and idle.that is all they do well.Just my opinion here.
Alrighty. Iv talked to Hughes about that camshaft before. I have a 1977 dodge w300 power wagon with a 440 in it. Do you know how much more horse power and torque you got with the camshaft upgrade?
@@jdmcmillian277 I can't give you HP or torque numbers.Just seat of the pants feelings and the smile it puts on my wifes face when I hit it.It pulls much harder and much longer than when it was stock.I also added schumacher headers,Torker II intake,Summit 750 vac sec carb. They all seem to work well together.
That's one fabulous machine right there.🏁🍺🏁
Thanks for the compliment. She is a work in progress. Sure is fun to pull into a cruise-in and have people ask what she is.

That’s good to hear, thanks for replying. Your car sounds great. Glad it is working good for you!
Car sounds great! What exhaust are you running? Do you have a X or H pipe in there?
Hey would it be ok if I use this video for my TH-cam channel? I will credit you. I am attempting to complete a cold start collection
what do you have your initial timing set at? Im trying to get my 440 running correctly, just swapped in this cam

@@Flexwingflyer1 awesome thanks man, yeah if you get a chance to check initial timing that would be great
@@BiffClark17 I checked tonight it has. 8 degs at idle

What kind of heads do you have on the car?
stock heads 452's I did and you do have to change the springs to run that cam though.
