- Four Tunnel Motors come around the Tunnel District on my proto freelanced Tehachapi Pass in HO Scale. I can't get enough of the awsome sound of these four Espee beauties... - Enjoy the video!

I never visited Tehachapi but grew up with the SP in the Davis/Sacramento area in the 70's and early 80's so lots of SP tunnel motores and SD45's were the bread and butter. How did that weekend warrior get down there from the bay area is what I'd like to know! I thought they did their weekends up over Donner Pass.
Nice layout and scenes. No caboose was a bummer - but noting the gumball lights on the SD45T-2's this must be post 1986 around the time when cabooses had been removed from most mainline trains. The dubbed in sound adds to the ambience and about the only thing missing is appropriate weathering on the freight cars. I have few weathered cars myself. The scenery looks great. Just getting to desert scenery myself on a west of Grand Junction Colorado based layout during late caboose era.

WOW! What a great layout and video and you're running the train at the right speed, most videos I watch the train is going way too fast. Watching this video set in 1991, I'm picturing my friend Jim who passed away last year . Jim was an engineer for SP 30+ years and ran trains over the loop all the time including the oil cans, sugar beet and mixed fright.

Those tunnel motors and the 45 are WAAAY to clean though. For an added touch of realisim, just spray paint them black, lol.

Great layout there. I’m an N scale model railroader. My N scale railroad is the Pacific West Coast railroad which will focus from the U.S.-Mexican border at San Ysidro,CA and go all the way to Vancouver,BC,Canada. It will be centered on the final quarter of the 20th. Century which will feature all the railroads that served & serve the West Coast. My next freight locomotive will be a Southern Pacific by Kato.

You really smash it out of the park with your scenery and particularly the rock formations. Without doubt the best tutorial on TH-cam. About to commence on a corner of my N-scale layout this weekend. Fingers crossed on my first attempt. I would be happy with half the result. Keep the videos coming. Super inspirational for newbies or those like me returning to the hobby after a 40-year hiatus.

Hello Gregg, the Tunnel Motors are made by Athearn and the EMD SDP 45 is made by Athearn Genesis. All of my tunnel portals are scratched built. I hope everything is fine in Australia and you are safe and healthy...

3:02 - Would be way cool if there were a way to simulate the big black cloud of diesel smoke that the prototype locos would create when emerging from one of these tunnels under full throttle ;)

What no caboose.
Yeah no caboose is what has caused me to not do anything modern or post Caboose era. And so many nice HO cabooses from Athearn Genesis and Centralia Shops, lots of accurate SP bay windows to choose from!
