4:20 what does "compliance issues" and "potential penalties" mean ? is it illegal to make a trading LLM or what ? i dont seem to fully understand the issue that stopped huge companies such as the black rock to use them ?
This was mostly related to the financial industry where it’s super important to follow the regulations and standards concerning data handling and decisions. Penalties can be really big but mostly fines for breaking laws (eg. Not following GDPR). It’s not illegal to make a trading llm! Just dangerous for yourself or your clients if you sell the product haha. You mainly need to be transparent in what you use and how you use it. Trading is one thing, financial-related businesses is much broader and have big impact! I do not know black rock, but from a quick research it seems they are using LLMs and they even have an AI lab. I assume it’s just tricky if they want to use it handling sensible client data.
