Hi Alec Williams, I like to use light tackle as its all about the fight to me, getting a fish to take your fly and then manage to land your prize is what keeps us all fishing. I am and never will be a numbers person who just wants to get the fish in as quick as possible so I can just catch more and more. Thanks for your comments, check out some of the other videos. Regards Peter
Mark why dont you join us on a hosted trip in 2023 www.sportquestholidays.com/tour/hosted-christmas-island/ or what about the brand new destination on from Christmas Osland Fanning Island www.sportquestholidays.com/tour/fanning-island/
Fly fishing for Bonefish and Christmas Island, a great short video in FULL HD highlighting the amazing fishing there is. Watch as Peter talks you through the fishing and brings in a few Bones to the fly. Has to be watched.
Paul what can we say, thank you for all your great comments. I can not take all the credit tho, my partner Lady Buckenham who is the driving force behind Sportquest Creative is responsible for all the filming work, with her skills we would have nothing. You should check her out on twitter. twitter.com/lady_buckenham
I certainly will check that out. The fishing On Christams Island just looks very good, i noticed you have done lots of GT fishing on Christmas Island on the Fly, what sort of fly rods handle GT's? and what fly patterns would one use? Sorry for all the questions but it is a dream of mine and want to tick it off the list one day. Thanks in advance
Its not just Bonefish there are some huge GT's you should look the tour up on our website - www.sportquestholidays.com/destinations/christmas-island-fishing/
Jimmy Buffet came to Kitibas to fly fish for Bones and GT. You know ...almost all of the GT IGFA World Records come from Kitibas. Banana Flats and Paris II were exceptional wading flats.
Hi When in December as I will be there the last week of November and first week of december, never know we might even bump into each other. Regards Peter
Very nice video. I like using the lightest gear possible too. If I was to go to Christmas Island, what rod weight(s) would you recommend for GT, and for what for Bonefish?
Peter for Bones you just need a 8 weight but for GT's you will also need a 12 buddy, they are so powerful and if you play them too soft they cut you off on rocks Regards Peter
Thanks a million glad you liked the video, if you have time take a look at some of my other videos and please feel free to leave comments on them also. Regards Peter
I host trips over there so when the customers are fishing with the guides I get a chance to sneak off and do a bit of fishing myself. I can self guide as have been saltwater flats fishing for many many years.
Not to be disparaging, it’s just not my preference to have a reel that surges. I’ve noticed surging drags in several of your videos. It makes me cringe like fingernails on a chalkboard! Lots of better options (imho) for drags. Great destination! It’s on my bucket list! Great videos and information
TheSigler88 I use the same lines on this video, but just different weights if I am fishing for different fish. e.g. 8 weight for bonefish and a 10 weight for bluefin and triggerfish. Regards Peter
Hi buddy all my rods and reels come from a company called Hardy in the UK, they have for many many years been making high quality roods and reels. look them up on the internet. Regards Peter
I'm not a huge fly fisherman, in fact my main species I target at walleye and smallmouth, but it seems to me that you might be a little light on your tackle.

were you fishing on your own without a guide? If so, how did you manage that?
I host trips over there so when the customers are fishing with the guides I get a chance to sneak off and do a bit of fishing myself. I can self guide as have been saltwater flats fishing for many many years.

We all have our preferences and I understand your reasons. Thanks for liking our videos and taking the time to comment.
Awesome video Peter! I had a question, what flies were you using?
+FishnFl z For the bonefish the best lie that always works is the Christmas Island specials Hope that helps Rgds Peter
cool!
+chubacca the furry Thanks
do u use 2 different fly lines on your reel? and if so why?
TheSigler88 I use the same lines on this video, but just different weights if I am fishing for different fish. e.g. 8 weight for bonefish and a 10 weight for bluefin and triggerfish. Regards Peter
What reel and rod is that. It has an awesome drag!
Both rod and reel come from Hardy in the UK, hope that helps Rgds Peter
What type of rod and what reel?
Hi buddy all my rods and reels come from a company called Hardy in the UK, they have for many many years been making high quality roods and reels. look them up on the internet. Regards Peter
What's the water temperature?
Vectorp47 Oh its nice and warm just like a bath Rgds Peter
I'm not a huge fly fisherman, in fact my main species I target at walleye and smallmouth, but it seems to me that you might be a little light on your tackle.
His drag might be set really low because you can catch striped bass on an 8 weight
Having caught both striped bass and bonefish, there is no comparison....a 4lb bonefish will outfight an 8lb striped bass any day of the week....
It look like it kissed u back 8:07
Ha Ha yes I did not notice that before. Hope you liked the little video, please help me by spreading the word to as many people as possible.
Bonefish the seas equivalent to diamond
