This was such a painful run to grind and I would never have thought to run this monster if not for juzzi attempting to do it, I wanted to see what the hype was about. Technically, a lower time is possible since I missed the spider in the end which means I wasted a few seconds getting it earlier in the run, but I'm satisfied with what I got; sub 6'40 was the goal.
Nevertheless, this run is a good example of why speedrunning special investigation anomaly monsters freestyle with a weapon like sns sucks so much:
1) A single run takes too long cause they have so much health, and sns doesn't output insane amounts of dps like dual blades or great sword.
2) Non-elders can be trapped which means locking them down with traps to deal big damage with bomb metsu is almost always the optimal thing to do in a given situation.
3) Anomaly bubbles are not fun, they make runs super inconsistent. sns also doesn't have the best tools to pop them easily. Also, exhaust phase sucks.
4) Astalos vs sns matchup generally just suck. I had to force astalos to small crowns when grinding for this run because his normal size was so big sns couldn't reliably hit the wings from the ground with normal attacks (but I mostly did it cause juzzi said so). Other than that, a lot of his moves just aren't very satisfying to punish with what sns has in its toolkit.
5) Scripting out the run was a massive headache because of the nature of his hit zones and how they interact with shock traps, as well as the run just taking up more time to complete.
Finally, shoutout to the right stick of my controller which caused me to drop so many runs because the fucking radial menu kept inputting a different item from what I wanted even after I increased the stick dead zone.
