Good God, I did not realize Areca Lodge was actually THAT close to LK Metro. The hotel is practically inside party central!! Awesome. The price you mention for it is cheap as chips as well. Thanks for this street view that showed me these two locations.

I stay in the nest guess house in soi daine in November not long to wait now
Rideing down Soi Diane opposite the Areca lodge is Cafe Kromberg Bjana Nielson the owner as been there over 40 years was a great golf bar , I've played there since the early 90s the bar is like a museum , this bar along with the Shamrock on Pattaya land ran by Terry these 2 have got to have the longest running bard in town , Dave at the Sportsman is not to far behind ,

Great coverage and great observations and descriptions of many different places. Excellent sandwiches at the Villa Market but many items are very expensive which no doubt explains why you never see more than a handful of people shopping there. When you're next in LK Metro you should try the superb fish and chips at the stall opposite Sugar Sugar. The cost is only 130 Baht.

In January 2023, I saw two grannies sitting behind a bar on Soi Lengkee. I know both of them from the 90s. At that time both worked in Soi 7. Hopefully more young women will come again. It's not funny with the grannies.

The bar named FARANG BAR could be a clever joke by the Thais. If you speak Thai you'll know what it means when spoken, although the spelling is different.
Not surprised Retox bit the dust as the waitress staff were terrible.
