These kind of bouncing notes show up in a *ton* of different Touhou songs either in foreground or background, especially in the earlier games. ZUN's been spamming it since Touhou 2's "Pure Land Mandala". The way the other melody flows is similar to what a few other themes do at points, the one that comes to mind for me most is Seija's. As mentioned the bell + synth used helps pull it even closer to that fantastic style. Too bad there's no trumpets though.
I get what ya mean, I originally made this because I disliked the abrupt transition when the main part cuts in so I smoothed it out via building up (Using already existing drum) and timing the beats to match up similar to original placement. There wasn't really much else to work with for making a de-escalation ending (That didn't just sound like song was simply fading away while playing normally); Someone could do it tho if they can get similar enough sounding instruments and match the overall style, not a remix edit but tack onto the end.
Considering it was around when the Abydos student council was still around and may be linked to its desertification, maybe it's more important to the place than meets the eye. There's a new chapter of the Abydos story out in JP rn so maybe it'll have some answers? Have yet to spoil myself yet.
