My brother recently reached out to me to buy a dive watch as he is a diver, and after careful thinking, I found myself recommending Sinn. Swiss watches have become overpriced for what you are getting; thus, the best deals are with German watchmaking, and the quality and after-sales customer service are way above some swiss powerhouses.
@@watchartsci yes ETA movements but the rest is all German I believe and they charge you for an ETA, not like some Swiss who use ETA and charge you as if it is an in-house movement
I was in Lang & Heyne’s shop in Dresden about the turn of the century . The only way that I could describe my reaction was jaw dropping. Nomos had a shop on the same street and I ended up buying the original ÄRZTE OHNE GRENZEN (DOCTOTS WITHOUT BORDERS) watch.
Great video Bill, and very timely. I am expecting a Dornbluth & Sohn 99.1 sometime before the end of this month. I ordered it in March 2022. I believe the upper caliber, 99.6, is a highly modified ETA/Unitas 6498(?)., and the lower caliber, the Quintas 2010 is their first in house caliber. I think you’re right, all of these German watch makers are top tier! Best regards, Brian
Great news ... that's some waiting list they have. You've seen this? th-cam.com/video/bvoWYu0Kv5Y/w-d-xo.html A long time ago I was admiring how they slowly regained their horological footing with German reunification.Be sure to tell us about it with pictures on HHL! Take care, Bill
Bill, great video! I'm saving up for a Moritz Grossman. Still undecided on which one, but I like their style and use of German "silver" in their movements. I could see myself owning multiple M. Grossman's, which, I try not to do in my collection. All the best!
Hey Paul, I'd really like to get one of those Hamatic watches from M. Grossmann. Never know when one will fall my way that I can afford. Waiting like a vulture. Take care, Bill
Great video Bill. I love the German watchmakers. The incident at Lang & Hyne was that the investors were stifling Marco Lang's creativity so he left. I tried on the caliber 4 watch last year at Cellini. I didn't know they stopped making it. It's still on their website for sale.
All four are amazing examples of innovation and great watch making, I think Marco Lang, and Kudoke are hard to get, MG is outside my price range, but the Dornblüth is definitely something up my alley :D Thanks Bill.

Really like L&H Georg, Caliber VIII is perhaps the best design that I have seen. Have seen an interview with Marco Lang (th-cam.com/video/sswlDtisHpo/w-d-xo.html) a couple of weeks ago. He speaks with such passion, and I really admire his devotion; leaving a prospective company and just to focus on watchmaking
Extraordinary movements on these pieces.
Besides the Georg, the Hamatic is one I'd really like to have, Javi. Take care, Bill

Sinn is a nice watch, Felix-well made, but still Swiss movements, no? Take care, Bill

I'm amazed by you Bill replying to all all comments you really care about your audience and your channel , Thanks. Vitali.
We're all here to talk about watches, Vitali and the least I can do is to enter the discussion. Take care, Bill
German watchmaking is a miracle! Would love to own some of these pieces in the future
Yes, Anton, very nice and very pricey! Take care, Bill
German watchmaking is alive and kicking. Marco Lang is a true master watchmaker, his work is fabulous.
Thank you for the video
Indeed he is, Erik! Easily one of the Top 5 in watchmaking. Take care, Bill

The DWB group is one of my favorite and most needed ones in the world and I applaud Nomos for their support. Take care, Bill
That Mortiz Grossmann is one of the finest world timers and ease of use on the market. Phenomonal stuff.
It's unique too, Will. Price is out of range for me, but a wonderful watch. Take care, Bill

@@watchartsci That was the video that got me to look into Dornbluth, so I have to thank you for yet another watch.

Good luck Rocco-hope you get it on time. Take care, Bill

Hello, What are your thoughts on chronoswiss? How would you rank them/ categorize them? Thank you!
Chronoswiss is one of those brands that's a mixed bag-my choice would be one with Chronoswiss mfg movement. Take care, Bill
Dresden and Glashütte only are 30 kilometers apart. I wouldn't call them 2 different watch areas at all.
Erik, Manhattan and the Bronx are just across the river from one another but are in two different worlds. Dresden watches are special. Take care, Bill
Thank you....very informative
My pleasure Kim! Take care, Bill

Hi Marko! I wish all watches have movements like the Georg where you can see the symphony that is a mechanical watch. Take care, Bill
