I recall seeing some interview with Amanda Seyfried around the time Mamma Mia released when she said she had been approached by either Benny Andersson or Bjorn Ulvaeus (or both) about creating a pop album. She would sing songs he (or they) wrote. She also said she didn't feel confident enough in her voice to even consider the offer, and respectfully declined. Funny thing is, there was a TH-cam video for Vanity Fair, where Amanda Seyfried rewatched scenes from her films (Mamma Mia, Les Miz, Mean Girls & others), and she said the biggest problem with Mamma Mia was not feeling confident in her voice as she hadn't done a lot of singing when she got the job. That, and the hellacious choreography of the entire "Voulez-Vous" sequence that was a nightmare. Yet, she also did Les Miz and Mamma Mia 2... Amanda Seyfried's recording of Thank You For The Music that plays over the credits makes me cry every time. She has such a lovely voice and pours her heart into the songs.
Part of the charm of the ensemble in this movie is that they're really leaning into the "greek chorus" trope, which is appropriate since they're in Greece! This is why everyone is extra nosy and laughing in unison and things like that, plus the comment "it's very greek". A subtle thing but I thought very funny and effective
You absolutely HAVE to watch the sequel! The casting is amazing! You get so much backstory about Donna and how she met the guys... and you get Lily James (young Donna) playing Amanda Seyfried's mother, which I love. I have a big crush on both Lily and Amanda.

The winners began their run last week. I recommend checking on it! The performances are on TH-cam and the contestants were all the good! The judges were nice too, their critics weren't too harsh but they were mostly right. The show was very good and I appreciated it!

Dude i love that in the Hannah's video reacting to Cinderella she was looking at Camila Cabello's bangs and was like "do yall think I can pull off the bangs" and now she has them and looks stunning!! ❤
I'm going to say something possibly controversial, but I loooveeee Pierce Brosnan's voice in this movie. I love his passion and energy and that will always do more for a song to me than someone technically good but with no passion
I've been arguing this point for years! Some of them don't have the "best" voices in the world, but I wouldn't change the casting for anything because they all seem like they have so much fun and energy for the movie itself :)
Hannah, my ABSOLUTELY favorite part of any of your videos is your innate inability to chill the F out and enjoy something without picking it apart. Never change this about yourself or try to diminish it, because you're the best!! It's SO lovely and cute and refreshing to hear you being genuinely concerned about the real life implications of whatever's happening on screen. I loved this episode, it was an honor to accompany you in your first watch of Mamma Mia! because I'm the friend that presented this to anyone who would let me when I was younger. I still have the DVD, even though I no longer have a DVD player at home LOL
On TH-cam you can find a deleted song between Sophie and Bill, that happens ok the beach, at the bachelorette party. The fact that they have a song basically confirm that Bill is her father but they choose to delete it so the mystery is still here and the end is more relevant!
The song between Sophie and Bill is in the original musical too. I think they just took it out of the movie to save time. Like they didn't put in the song Under Attack and put Thank You for the Music in the credits. Both of which are actual numbers in the stage version.
What I love about this movie is how much homage they payed to ancient greek plays with the villagers acting as the chorus and commentators. The reason the villagers laughed when Donna made her comment about fate is because that was a huge theme in Greek theatre, whether it was comedy or tragedy. It was meta, in line with the best traditions of Greek plays.
This is one of my most favorite movies❤️ i just cant ever get enough. it so much heals my childhood self. I have always had not much of a relationship with my mom, and the scene of Donna helping Sophie get ready just makes me sob everytine😭 it just brings me so much happiness, for what i can have with my own babies one day.

I cannot believe you haven’t seen mamma Mia before now. I was 5 when the movie came out and my mum bought me the dvd and I watched it so much I wore it out and she had to buy me a new one. It’s been my favourite movie for 15 years and will always be my comfort movie. I am obsessed. I will never get tired of it and that movie introduced me to abba and I love them too. I went to see the second one in the cinema so many times. Mamma Mia is one of my personality traits frrrr. This movie means so much to me. The original movie got me through my many hospital stays as a child and i will love it forever

I think the company (Lionsgate) claims the reactions to the Hunger Games so it's hard to react to it... Because if they claim it, TH-cam blocks it. And if it's not blocked, it's demonetized...
My mom and Grandma saw the live version in Vegas and the three of us saw it in the theater together and it was the perfect movie to watch together. I remember mom and I singing a long (loudly) to the dvd. This movie definitely has a special place in my heart

Same! My dad has the ABBA Gold Album and I remember him playing this album almost every single day when I was young. Dancing Queen was the first song on that album and every time I hear that piano slide, I knew that my dad was in his ABBA mood during my childhood!
My grandmother and I ran down 2 DVDs AND 2 OBC CD of Mamma Mia when she was around! We loved the musical and played it in the car all the time. I know the whole OBC recording by heart. I'm so glad you finally got to see Mamma Mia!!

Agreed! I love him in this movie sm!!
I've been arguing this point for years! Some of them don't have the "best" voices in the world, but I wouldn't change the casting for anything because they all seem like they have so much fun and energy for the movie itself :)
big agree, love his performance too. imo he has the best voice of all the dads
agreed! he sounds pretty goofball but i think it adds character lol
i adore it too here so much!!!
Meryl really is one of our greatest gifts. She’s such a wonderful performer.
HAIR IS HAIRING ✨
So sad that you skipped "Our last summer" wich for me is one of the best songs but it was still a super amazing reaction ! Glad you liked it!❤
please do mamma mia 2 next
What’s the song called !😱
That's just a theory. we'll never know who her bio dad is
@@Delaney.N The Name Of The Game!!
The song between Sophie and Bill is in the original musical too. I think they just took it out of the movie to save time. Like they didn't put in the song Under Attack and put Thank You for the Music in the credits. Both of which are actual numbers in the stage version.
@Greenluvr100 I would have loved it if they had put in Under Attack I love that song
At 25:09 I LOST IT and started cough laughing. Going from something so sweet and heartfelt to "OMG A MAN YUCK" SENT ME.
You HAVE TO WATCH MOMMA MIA 2! You'll love that too!
What I love about this movie is how much homage they payed to ancient greek plays with the villagers acting as the chorus and commentators.
The reason the villagers laughed when Donna made her comment about fate is because that was a huge theme in Greek theatre, whether it was comedy or tragedy. It was meta, in line with the best traditions of Greek plays.
just hearing your explanation of how you would work on someones vibrato makes me want/NEED a class with you *immediately*
Slipping to my fingers never fails to make me tear up. Love their Mum-Daughter relationship ❤
We don't talk enought about Meryl streep beeing so stunning everytime. She's so good in singing and acting.
I love this movie because the cast clearly were having a blast and it shows so much. I'd love to see you do Chicago next
the second you said you'd never seen this movie i knew you'd love it bc girlhood and girl power and mother-daughter moments!! it's literally my favorite movie ever and every scene with sophie and donna means so so much to me because of how much it reminds me of my relationship with my mom (even though i do have one present dad lmao), everything is just so precious and loving and wholesome. i adore all things mamma mia
I've seen Mamma Mia and Here We Go Again a total of maybe 20 times altogether, literally obsessed
“We should just say ‘thank you’ and listen.” Yep. That part. 🤣
I CAN’T WAIT FOR YOU REACTING TO MAMMA MIA 2 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
I cannot believe you haven’t seen mamma Mia before now. I was 5 when the movie came out and my mum bought me the dvd and I watched it so much I wore it out and she had to buy me a new one. It’s been my favourite movie for 15 years and will always be my comfort movie. I am obsessed. I will never get tired of it and that movie introduced me to abba and I love them too. I went to see the second one in the cinema so many times. Mamma Mia is one of my personality traits frrrr. This movie means so much to me. The original movie got me through my many hospital stays as a child and i will love it forever
Earliest I've ever been to a video!! I love you Hannah! Also I know it's like not even relevant anymore but I would LOVE a Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes vocal reaction hahaha. So excited to finish this video!!
seconding this rachel zegler is insanely good
I think the company (Lionsgate) claims the reactions to the Hunger Games so it's hard to react to it... Because if they claim it, TH-cam blocks it. And if it's not blocked, it's demonetized...
I support this!
My mom and Grandma saw the live version in Vegas and the three of us saw it in the theater together and it was the perfect movie to watch together. I remember mom and I singing a long (loudly) to the dvd. This movie definitely has a special place in my heart
You GOTTA do mama mia 2 now! While the plot is whatever it is such a fun movie and the song performances are so good!!
The priorities of Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again are unabashedly 1) spectacle, 2) characters, 3) then plot, and I LOVE it
Thank you @Hannahbayles for presenting us with your knowledge and personality. I have ADHD and I have a hard time with longer reaction videos. Thanks for keeping it short and sweet.
first of all, love the hair. secondly, this is one of my comfort movies. I've seen it so many times. So glad you enjoyed it
Mama Mia is one of my favourite films, it’s SO good and when I saw you reacted to it my little autistic heart was filled my joy
Not Hannah saying "That's getting hairy" while Sophie is talking to Harry 😂
No but this movie is my life so I had a great time watching you enjoy it
Rewatching this video (not just because I love movies) I love Hannah's feedback. She's so detailed and funny.
I have been waiting SO LONG for this. I hope you watch Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again
Fun fact: the townspeople in the villa are meant to be a Greek Chorus, literally and figuratively!
My father/daughter dance at my wedding was this version of ‘Slipping Through My Fingers.’ It’s so beautiful & was very fitting because my dad is the person that got me into ABBA & we saw this movie in theaters together 🥰
Amanda Seyfrieds voice is absolutely incredible, she sung mean old moon in Ted 2 and it was amazing.
Also if you don't like ABBA you're clearly from Edinburgh and raging you guys didnt get a shoutout in Super Trooper.
Mamma Mia 2 is really good as well. And if you like abba and Tim rice try chess the musical the original or the remake is also really good!!
my favorite thing about mama mia is that the ensemble WILL appear every song no matter the occasion
THE BANGS ARE EVERYTHING
hearing you say you grew up listening to ABBA put such a big smile on my face. my dad brought me up on their music and we'd listen to their casettes on roadtrips too!! he's passed but he was wonderful and your story reminded me of him.
and yes! we did notice your bangs!! they look phenomenal! 💖
YOUR HAIR IS SO CUTE❤❤❤❤ And Mamma Mia is such a nostalgic feel-good movie it’s so fun
I love Mama Mia sm! It introduced me to ABBA and I'm so glad bc their songs are just amazing!
What I love, is that Rosie’s actress is Mrs. Weasley from HP
Omg I never even noticed that 😂
SHE IS?!
@@screamingbegins4688 YES
I've seen this movie like.. a thousand times and i always cry during Dancing Queen, end of Super Trouper and Slipping Through My Fingers. Always.
Hannah the bangs look so cute!!!!! Also I freaking love Mamma Mia thank you so much for watching thisssssss
yes yes yes i love this! it's such a comfort movie for me, as is the second one, which i hope you'll watch + react to at some point. the casting, the costumes, the songs, it's all incredible
I wasn't expecting to see this video on my homepage but I'm SO EXCITED!! Mamma Mia is one of my favorite movies and recently I've been obssessed with your channel so this is great! Can't wait to watch!!
I saw Mamma Mia twice in stage. I loved it so much. Pepper (the one that Christine Baranski is chasing around) was my absolute favourite. He was such an adorable, funny character in the stage show. But yeah, she’s being a cougar🤣🤣
PLEASE do Rent next! Also the bangs are SO CUTE 😍
i'm shook! i've seen mamma mia 3 times on broadway (two times in one year) and saw the first movie in theaters. i'll never get sick of it.
Oh ny gosh you HAVE to react to the second one next it has Lily James as young Donna and the three young "fathers" and it's just amazing
My mother played "ABBA's Golden Hit's" when we drove thirty minutes to our church....ABBA will always remind me of that. It was the best part of the day!!
Omg I was so excited for this and it did not disappoint!! One of my favourite movies of all time, I can watch this over and over and never tire of it, so nice to watch you having fun with it. If you ever end up doing the second movie too, I'd be so here for that (prepare to cry tho xD)
I love how much fun the cast seems to be having. It’s a big part of why I love this movie
You need to watch the 2nd one! Warning tho continuity isn’t perfect but it’s still so good casting is great. I love Mamma Mia so much!
Same! My dad has the ABBA Gold Album and I remember him playing this album almost every single day when I was young. Dancing Queen was the first song on that album and every time I hear that piano slide, I knew that my dad was in his ABBA mood during my childhood!
Love the bangs Hannah 🥰
Just have to say that the bangs look absolutely incredible on Hannah!!
i think this is one of my favourite reaction videos of yours lmao, what an emotional roller-coaster. Love love LOVE then bangs girlie
My grandmother and I ran down 2 DVDs AND 2 OBC CD of Mamma Mia when she was around! We loved the musical and played it in the car all the time. I know the whole OBC recording by heart. I'm so glad you finally got to see Mamma Mia!!
you gotta do the second one!! it doesn’t quite hit like the first one does but is still lots of fun
The woman carrying the sticks was my grandmothers favorite part of the movie. She exclaimed “you go girl!”
