I normally keep my motorcycles for 3 or 4 years then sell them on, my little Guzzi Breva ( same mechanics as this) has been with me 17 years now, multiple European tours and always a pleasure to ride, its fills a niche in motorcycling, as you get older you realise you no longer need a high powered motorcycle to impress people, or go someplace fast, as the days get shorter you need to savour every moment, and the Guzzi gives me that every time I ride it Mi Piaci Molto

Not the fastest bike I've had by a long shot, but it sounds & looks fantastic, has a shaft drive, and handles pretty well. FYI , The oil pan spacer is actually called A Sump Extension . it increases the sump capacity and helps prevent a potential problem called Cavitation which allows air to get into the oil lines and may starve the heads of their essential "Life blood " oil , it's a shame they didn't make it with the big engine , I have a 1984 Le Mans (948cc) , they pull like tanks and out drag XS1100s to a ton and pull from next to nothing in high gears though they top out between 135 mph & 140mph if You believe the speedo and road tests , with a little bit of restraint I can get over 60 miles to the UK gallon on a long run ,Mine has 2 x 40mm Dellorto carbs with accelerator pumps , at 100 mph in top twist the throttle beyond 50% and neat fuel is squirted straight down the inlet tracts , and gives a kick in the pants . "The longest continuous motorcycle manufacturing company in Europe... it started in 1921"
    It's actually Husqvarna (1903).
Interestingly, while Harley Davidson lays claim to "1903", and was in fact founded in that year, their 1903 prototype "power-cycle" was an under-powered failure and was written off as a learning experience. The first functional prototype (Based on the Merkel design) was completed in 1904. But it wasn't until 1905 that they began very limited production based on that design... selling a total of 3 (of the 5 they produced) that year.
Making Husqvarna (founded in 1689, producing motorcycles since 1903) the longest continuous motorcycle manufacturer in the world.
Several ownership changes(like Guzzi and Harley), but never a stoppage in production(unlike Enfield, Norton, Indian, etc.).

Like a modern cafe racer... plus it's almost 100 lbs lighter than this guzzi, with 30 more horsepower. Plus, they shaved $2,500 off the price for the 2020 models, so now it's not even overpriced, might even be a bargain.
Researching it, and being a life long Harley Sportster owner, is the only reason i even knew that trivia. LOL

That bike brings back memories to me. I began riding motorycles on a Moto Guzzi V50 ,500cc,in the early eighties. It was the predecessor of the actual V7 models . But then, Moto Guzzis were equipped with dual front disk brakes and integral braking system . The brake pedal actuated the rear brake caliper and one of the front caliper simultaneously. The hand lever actuated the other front caliper for increased braking power if needed or for just slowing down. It was a really good braking system , I never had a wheel locking and there was no ABS at the time. It wasn t a fast and powerful bike but was light , nimble and handled well, the maintainance was simple and easy. It is a good bike for beginners once you get accustomed with the gear shifting technique of the shaft drive . I could consider riding one again int the future when I will find my Harleys too heavy and bulky !

Went with a MG 850 INTERCEPTOR. 30+ bikes and 45yrs later... couple of my biggest regrets was selling it and my '83 Suz GS1100 ED. Oh... and my Colt Python (bought it new from San Francisco Gun Exchange for $399 and sold it for $300) yes really, they had guns stores in SF back then. Anyway...thinking of getting rid of my old BMW-GS and getting a V7. I just know that as soon as I do, MG will put the 85 engine in the V7. Upgrading like the way they did with bringing out the Le Mans 6mo. after I bought the Interceptor. - Those Bastards!

There is a lot to like about Moto Guzzi's. From a retro point of view. The lack of dealerships is probably why they don't sell more of them.

      it's chicken & the egg problem: few sales -> few dealers; few dealers -> few sales; I don't think it will change anytime soon;
I think Moto Guzzi will remain low-volume, boutique, connoisseur brand

The 27 HP version is probably for the European market, for people less than 21 years old (or something like that), I don't think it ever came to the US, there is no limit like that.

When I was looking to buy a new bike in the late 70s I had a ride on a Guzzi Californian, and was totally underwhelmed, even today, they produce bikes that have very low powered engines, compared to similar sized bikes by other manufacturers.
This Guzzi looks good, but still way down on power. But a traditional cafe racer should have an inline twin motor like the Triumphs and Nortons which the first cafe racers rode.

Horsepower is not the whole story. It's linear power due to a flat torque curve. I don't know if there is such a thing as a bad handling Moto Guzzi. My 1976 1000cc M.G. has a "Tonti" frame. Designed by engineer Limo Tonti and is the mild steel version of the chrome moly chassis the limited edition (200) bikes V7 factory offering for those that wanted a new motorcycle that with minimal upgrades was ready to hit the track. Or it was the pre LeMans factory cafe racer in the era before "sport bike" was even a category and was just something a person created themselves from a British twin like a Triumph Bonneville or a Norton Commando. Moto Guzzi in my experience has power comparable to Triumph or Norton etc. and I don't recall myriad complaints about a lack of power on those British bikes.

I can understand some people may not like the Guzzi, it's a different bike (like everything in life it depends on what you want), what I can't accept though, are the comments about the reliability.
Motorcycles can have problems (are mechanical "objects" built by men) but anyone who says that Moto Guzzi makes unreliable bikes it saying bullshit.
I'm Italian (sorry, firstly for my English) so probably I'll be biased but I'm also a biker (unfortunately I've been for a long time) and I cannot and want to believe there are biker who never heard the name "Moto Guzzi".
Ok, it's not Honda and (talking about Italian bikes) even Ducati but how it's possible to be a biker and never heard the Guzzi California, Le Mans, V7 etc?
Going back to the video, there's not much to say: it’s a wonderful bike.

Sean-If you’re selling motorcycles, why no rain suit? You don’t have to go all nerdy hi-viz (though that’s probably a good idea), but staying dry and comfortable is completely do-able, and you want to look like (and be) a motorcyclist who actually knows what he/she is doing. Getting soaked is for unaware, unprepared rookies. And here’s a news flash: No one needs 150hp and stability software to keep up with highway traffic. The Guzzi has 50hp, which is plenty, particularly for solo riding.

The Suzuki Katanas had the same rear seat styling back in the day but when you gave it a handful if the passenger wasn't holding on well enough they'd begin to slide backwards down the seat and this Guzzi seat has more of a gradient to it than the Kat ones did so not good, if you're gonna take your girl on it I'd keep lookin around just to check she's still there LOL

I ride one of those to work everyday. 70 klm round trip. Has done 55000 klms they need a more open exhaust and computer reflash and suspension is very soft if pushing on. . I love it. So do all the women who keep chucking their parties at me.
