Hi Douglas early this year i began a tutoring business, i approached a school and began to tutor grade 12 Accounting, the challenge was the parents were not paying and also the kids bunked classes. I think next time i should request to be paid upfront before rendering my services,

khosi sibanda Do you have a theme or method that sets you apart from other tutors? Once you’re set up and getting students (accounts) you can hire other tutors to work for you. I suggest a theme or method, like a guaranteed turnaround in 1 month or something. Smarter in 3 weeks and perhaps some IQ test or other assessment the students take with you. Awards to students, free coffee to parents. Some kinda perk that people value. Give kids certificates of completion, a point system that awards them for attending.

So true Douglas.... but there's also a dangerous downside to that. E.g. some people think about a business idea and before they test the market and build a track record, you find a person sending out the biggest invoices ever, prices that are even higher than what industry experts charge

Thank you for the words of wisdom. People will only give you money for the value you provide. I’m running a successful online business consulting from Tanzania. There so much money if you give people value. I started this business with $0. Thank you again. You provide so much value for free.

I enjoyed this video. I've had long term similar problem trying to make a business and only ending up with vanity sites because I didn't define what I was selling . . . perhaps also perfectionism is a problem. One, or me rather, I seem to have to have the perfect solution before starting.

wisdomgametv Yes that’s common. Jack Canfield said it well, start when you can see 80% of the road...the rest of the road will follow and be visible with time. Never wait until 100% ready, as you will never be fully ready.

A good way to assess what people will pay for is to go out into the community and do market research. Ask them which services they want and how much they want to pay. Most people will tell you.

My opinion, don’t go into business to get rich...go into it to sell something that can really help humanity, something you love. Then try to reach lots of people. Sell something you are passionate about! More likely to become rich that way.

I want to start Longevity clinics, selling services/programs that help people live longer and healthier. Target market is people near retirement in the wealthy communities where I live. Services will include lab tests to evaluate their biological age vs chronological age. Assess telomere length. Then having a diet/eating plan, to help people slim down (yes weight loss too) and referral for exercise/yoga etc, can set up relationships with local gyms and evaluation of their sleep patterns. A good friend is a sleep specialist and I’m sure can give me pointers. Maybe offer relaxations sessions. Like guided meditations. Also want to look into selling them supplements, might create my own label, heard it’s easy to do. Starting out I want to use low cost offices/clinics. Once I’m up and running I can hire one or more good assistants, and eventually a mid level practitioner like a PA or RNP. I except to break even in 1-2 years, possibly profitable in 2-3 years. But my motivation is to help society vs doing this for pure profit, yes I want to do this for fun. I want to eventually have a string of Longevity clinics with a well known supplement brand, create a Longevity Brand name, in terms of clinic style/program and products. I might also go on speaking tours and use social media to reach people. Marketing-wise locally I’ll start with the people I know in Medicine and related fields. I might go around to different clinics and present myself to the main doctor and ask for referrals. Since I’m a doctor they’re more likely to listen to me. Although I won’t accept insurance directly, I can print out invoices for patients to get reimbursed from their Ins company. I’ll have diagnosis codes for them, of course.
So my business will be a specialty clinic, a luxury of sorts, catering to higher end older clientele. Perhaps some young people may show up too. It won’t be easy to build a clientele...but I’m sure gonna try and I think this will be a blast.
