Honestly, I think it undermines Josh's ability to maintain his job. He keeps his job because he is a great worker and people like him. I would never thank a company for keeping him hired. They should be thanking him for his hard work and kindness. If it was a holiday or something special that's a really kind gesture. But honestly you wouldn't do this for the other kids. Don't treat him like he's not capable and should be grateful they keep him hired. Just my honest opinion.
This was bought for his co workers and something that folks in all walks of life do for their co workers. Things are brought in to the break room to share by everyone. His siblings have also done similar things for their friends. He is being treated the same as his siblings when appropriate.
