- We had a wonderful time celebrating Joshua’s birthday. We came downstairs, and Gideon had made him breakfast and then we did our chores and headed out because he wanted to eat lunch at red lobster. Our kids get to pick where they wanna go to lunch on their birthday and then they also get to pick what they want for dinner. So we had to red lobster for lunch and he wanted to go bowling so we decided to go bowling for a little bit and of course dad won
Then we headed home had some downtime and then I got Joshua’s Pizza themed birthday foods ready for the party. He got a lot of nice things. His brothers and sisters absolutely spoil him rotten and he was just so excited and couldn’t wait to start using things that he got for his birthday.

I was born without a thyroid, in 1978 thyroid panels weren’t part of routine bloodwork for newborns so mine wasn’t caught until I started having issues at 4 months old. The doctors told my parents that because of the delay in getting treatment started I wasn’t going to have a “normal” life. I’m about to turn 45 and I couldn’t ask for a better life. I have my dream career, beautiful wife, a great house and awesome friends. Yes I’ve had my challenges, I had a bit of a learning curve in school, my heart took a hit with the development issues so I’ve had 6 heart surgeries. Sometimes I deal with horrible pain when my levels get off. I’ve always had to work a bit harder than most to stay in shape because the synthroid just isn’t the same as what the thyroid does.
My parents refused to listen to the doctors when they said there was little hope. They always guided me and supported me, they always supported me in my dreams. I’m certainly glad they did! Josh seems like a kid that won’t let challenges hold him back and you and your family seem a lot like my parents were….
We just never give up on our kids…Josh is a perfect example why. ♥️
I teared up quite a few times when Joshua was opening his gifts. His family and friends clearly love him so. My Mom used to say to be spoiled was being extra loved, and Joshua deserves it. Happy Birthday Joshua!!!!

So many people write people with disabilities off in life and it is a TRUE travesty when they do that! It is SO AMAZING the things we can learn from those with a disability; like HUMBALENESS, LOVE, HOW TO LET GO AND LIVE, GENUINE HAPPINESS, APPRECIATION, etc. I can go on and on. I personally have felt blessed when I come around someone with a disability and see them shine (smile) it is so uplifting to me to know they are truly happy. That means HOME is LOVING and APPRECIATING, etc.
All the things that Josh has are because of your love, your husband's love, and his sibling's love. YOU ALL have accomplished SO MUCH for those kids it is TRULY amazing! Josh smiles because he knows you all love him. You all are amazing! We need more people like you to help kids to know love and what a REAL home is like! Thank you for doing this for them!

I loved watching this. I watched it with my 3 year old daughter who sang happy birthday right along. Your family is so beautiful and loving to each other and it fills my heart with such joy. My son has autism I was told when he entered high school he wouldn’t be able to graduate with his class and he would be in school till the age of 22 and wouldn’t be able to go to college or live on his own and so on. I left the school heart broken but then I said the hell with them my so will experience everything just like the other kids in school it may take more work but we will do it. And sure enough he graduated on time w his class and w his welding certificate and went to prom got his license a job at 16 w HEB who he still works for he’s now 25. A disability or a disease doesn’t mean they can’t have goal and dreams a life they may have to work harder they may always need help but it can be done. My son does live me still but he does want his own place as well but keep his room with us lol. He says his future apartment will be for when he’s tired of us he can go to relax but he will be back. And that’s ok too. He just went threw a hard break with a girl who isn’t autistic and he’s taking it hard. But we just keep telling him it’s ok no need to rush someone is out there to except him for himself. I’m proud of all he’s accomplished. We got him the extra help and he had some great teachers and friends to helped as well. Josh is going to be ok he has a great support system you all show it everyday how much you love him.
