I had to bail last night, my tent (MSR Hubba Hubba) was making a right racket in the wind, gonna sell it I think and buy a scarp it looked SOLID. One upside was walking back in the dark I saw a barn owl!
As an Aussie, I'm jealous of the fact the UK and Europe are basically one big campground in a sense of how nice the ground is to camp on, but it feels like you can't truly escape humans or their structures, in that you're always within a few dozen miles of a human settlement - Something I like about Australia is that you can go hiking hundreds upon hundreds of miles away from any known human settlement and know that you are truly alone in the wilderness...
Lying awake listening to wind and rain is comforting somehow. I have never pulled my tent down in the rain. But I have hung a wet fly sheet on the back of my pack to dry a few times.

Despite being a pain in the backside trying to set up in foul weather I’ve had some of my best nights sleep out on Dartmoor in the wind and rain. Have to say Paul, you look so much happier now you have given up the day job. Wishing you every success for the future

We liked the Hollands steak and kidney puds (in foil wrap) popped into a pan to steam.. You can add the steam veg (Birds Eye) into the pan and cook with the puds.. Awesome!! 👀👍
Hey Paul TV Producer here…. Really enjoying that you are using walking shots more but just wanted to give you a top pro tip and that is if you’re moving left to right in the frame, make it so that you keep moving left to right - unless the viewer sees the change of direction - otherwise it looks like you’re going back the way you’ve just come. Love your videos!

Give you 2 cheap tips .First get rid of the blow up pillow as it does your neck in over time and use a small pillow as you get in aircraft (even make one) Second get a small covered hot water bottle for heat in your sleeping bag ,this also is a backup water carrier .

Sometimes the inclement weather becomes the most memorable experience when outdoors.
Yeah my scout troop spent 15-16 hours in a tent. We zipped a kid outside with a cat and watched him through the bug mesh, apparently a cat is terrifying. Absolutely hilarious.
Yeah my second ever wild camp was in below freezing temps with mostly borrowed low budget equipment and we actually got pretty scared when our water began freezing and the spiritus was not burning. As always forecast was not right about the temp but it was a great experience and love to think about it now that its over 😄. But still, did not have the best night sleep 😬
Me and the lads I go with all prefer to go in bad weather cause its some of the funniest times we have had
It keeps the amateurs away, that's for sure!

I was up kinder on Friday night mate.
In my scarp 1 ( no x pole).
It was a bit wild with wind and clag. Headtorch needed to be dipped as just bounces of the clag.
Earplugs are a winner for sure, tents amazing in such conditions, quick re tension a silent.
Lovely sunrise sat morning tho.
I was singing your praises packing up, that sponji cloth is a games changer. Proper sucks the water up. Makes tent loads lighter on the way down. Nice one 👍

There’s a hook point directly above the doors on the Scarp... I moved my lantern to that on last camp

Your camp was very close to my regular spot.
On the plateau you can tuck between various rock formations just south of Red Brook, and about fifty yards to the east of the Pennine Way. You look down on the path, but you are hidden ..... Fantastic spot.
I Just SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL and love it, in the Video the fearless Winds and thick fog seemed to present a challenge, but it seemed to took it like a champ, and took us on a wild Adventure, full of joyful excitement, thanks so much for sharing your amazing camping adventure with us, gave you a thumbs up 👍🏻 for wild adventure.

The number of bloggers who seem to have piles of gear some of it hugely expensive and only appear to use it once or twice a year if that.

What a way to make a living? Go to France, it's warmer and you can camp on the beach south of Bordeaux on the Aquitane coast towards Biarritz. The thunder storms in late August are awesome first the Levant rolls onto the beach then you get the warm rain then you get lightning then thunder. So maybe one to think about for next year.
Really good to see you mention other TH-camrs. I'm keen on UK based wild camping channels. There's plenty of time to fill watching content when you don't watch broadcast TV! I mentioned your sound quality (which is very good) to a uk guy who is a new channel with just a handful of subscribers. He is getting out there and camping. Even phones have decent images now, but bad sound ruins a video.

On April 7th, 2022. I quit the Job as a Banker in Indonesian National Bank, its been almost 3 week now. I do enjoying living outdoor, Hiking and solo camping as yours Paul, Oh my God, I guess we have a same things in common, stay safe out there Paul. Enjoy your Life.

It is a different ball game eh doing everything from within the tent.
On my last outing I also had crazy winds and end up packing up at 6am and walking onto my 2nd munro in the wind, clag and darkness.
I take my hat off to you for continuing to film as i just put my camera away to concentrate on getting packed up as quickly as possible
Another great video Paul pleased with the tent in strong winds as my one its one its way did the same as you got them to seam seal added the cross polls and and also got 6 extra guy lines it be in the garden with my doberman Karl he is 19 months old still bouncy but getting my gear together all ready to get out and wild camp hopefully see you one day on top of hill somewhere

Nice! For the scarp poles I wrapped a bit of yellow tape round the middle of each end section of the centre pole (same colour as the sleeve) - that way you can easily tell it apart from the crossing poles. Maybe save you carrying extra bags for the different poles 👍

You’re reducing your stove output by insulating the canister. Briefly holding a lighter underneath is effective in cold conditions.

I’m sure you already know, but In strong winds, it’s always better to face the tent door away from the prevailing wind. Great experiences in bad weather, too may ‘fine weather campers & hikers’

This is why I love my MSR Hubba Hubba tent, as you have plenty of room to set up and pack up when the outside isn't so pleasant. And it's still light and packs away really well. Thumbs up on hot pudding and cold custard, LOL!

Spent 12 hours in a tent this weekend. Came home tired and grubby from the fields and hills. Glamorous, no. But is it living? Heck yes.
I’ve started buying gear every pay cheque and slowly but surely I am getting ready for a bit of outdoor camping - cannot wait

That is exactly the type of weather I had the day I went up Snowdon. Seeing as how I'm an American and was on vacation, it was a bit of a disappointment. But also an excuse to return for another go!
