brilliant thanks
Can u show a few close ups of unhooking deep hooked fish to help us to put fish back safely. Im getting better but not with gill or deep hooked ones.
Looking forward to it!
Brilliant John, my son and I are learning so much. You’re great for beginners.
Another great video John, loving all the tips. I have found the detachable hook lengths from one of your other videos a great time saver, not in just baiting up but also not having to make up so many complete rigs.😁
Taking great comfort from your videos. Both my parents died within the past 10 days. Dad was a true countryman and reminds me of Fishlocker for his knowledge and skills.
Oh Ken I am so truly sorry to hear that. I wish there was something I could say or do to lessen the terrible blow. Take care my friend and be well. 💙
That’s so sad , keep strong Ken ,🤝
Hope your doing well Ken
Never felt the need to cry about my losses on social media..
@@mommabubba1887 then shut up
The one thing that I find that 'flows' throughout all your fishing videos is your infallible logic to all sorts of situations. One can't fault it! This is a great example - and for me personally - gives me hope as I have VERY rarely fished from a pier and with my age increasing rapidly (!!), this gives me some serious hope!! Brilliant as always John. Thank you.
You and I could sit and talk about things for hours mate. I like to think of myself as a logical person and a "thinking" angler. There is a reason for things, for them to go right or for them to go wrong. We as an intelligent being should be finding better, smarter and more efficient/effective ways of doing everything in life. From the days living in caves discovering fire to modern day technological and medical advances. You have a problem and you find a solution. In my experience the best and most effective solution is often the simplest one. The logical one. Sadly modern people have a habit of overcomplicating things and don't see the purest simplest logic until it is explained to them. Then it's obvious. Haha.
That’s y I’m here! Im toying with getting into sea fishing but with a lot to learn, as a coarse angler that has always successfully fished differently to others, I relate to the thinking here. This and the reading the charts/map at trevone are the only vids of yours I’ve watched, n they’ve answered sooo many of my questions, Thanks for the effort you put into your vids. 👍👍
@@TheFishLocker You are so right John. Been an Engineer all my life and learned very early on to 'see the woods' ;-)
I must say, I enjoy all of the videos on this channel and it's really opened up my eyes to Sea Fishing and how fun it really is.
Thank you very much. I am really glad to hear the videos have helped you out. 👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker Appreciate your work sir!
Just want to say how brilliant these episodes are for those who want to progress with sea fishing. Your easy listening style makes it so down to earth and understandable. I’ve coarse fished all my life, started sea fishing 2 years ago and love it. Thanks to you it’s ironed out a lot of my doubts and questions. Cheers John from me and countless others who support the channel, regards to all the family for your efforts.
It is my pleasure Stephen, I am simply doing what I can to help folks. Take care and tight lines. 😉🎣
Top class mate , just getting better all the time . ''Don't forget what's at your feet '' reminds me of many years ago , we had a new lad in the club , hadn't a clue bless him . Went beach fishing , his first time out , we all casting miles out , his first cast was a few yards right into the surf , bang , 8lb bass . We were sick , I learned a lesson that day ..
Haha. That happens so many times!!!
I fished the same place 2 yrs ago as we just came out of lockdown. I had an 8ft spinning rod and fished 2ft away from the wall a size 1 hook with ragworm. I had 15 wrasse in 1 hr upto 7lb in weight. I couldnt believe it. A local said shed lived there 14yrs and never seen such a big fish before caught from there. Just to prove what you say about not chucking out to France. Really enjoy your videos. Cheers!
Yes, I’ve caught many good fish right at my feet.
Super informative. You deserve your own tv show.
Maybe one day. haha.
There is nothing better in life than fishing 🎣 and watching fishing videos 😁

Good morning John, now I've been shore fishing since I was a teenager, 60 now, but you are never too old to learn new skills, which I have from this video, can't wait to learn more, keep them coming 😊
You will never know it all mate, so you are always able to learn something new. 😊🎣
Never a truer word said 😁
Please keep these shore fishing for beginners coming. Been fishing since August and your videos are very helpful and enjoyable. Thank you
I shall do my best, I hope they help people out. Please share them on to any of your friends who you think may benefit from them. 😊
Thanks for keeping us going through these crappy times John. Me and the family have all been ill since end of Dec with the dreaded covid but out the other end now. You have kept me sane through the long nights of coughing and fighting to breath. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Hope you, the family and all your fans keep yourselves safe and well. 💙
I'm glad to hear you are all coming out the other side of your ordeal mate. If I have been able to help in any way then I am glad. Take care mate and give our best wishes to your family. 😊🎣
A Three Bearded Rockling! I didn't even know that any Rockling existed! Amazing natural history insights.
My pleasure Andrew. 👍🏻
Lovely spot there, have fished it often but never in the dark. that explains why i never catch much. Must give it a try once i can get down there again
- Just be careful down there. A couple of folks died in December being swept into the water in rough weather.
I was trying to figure out where it was but couldn't make it out in the dark I'm not at that expert cornish level just yet lol
These videos are keeping me sane, a big thanks from Northern Ireland😉
My pleasure George. 😊
My Dad used to tie the bait on like that when fishing on the surf for Striped bass of Long island, New York. Fond memories... The mark of a true fisherman!
Thank you. 😊🎣

Eevee though I have not caught a fish from shore, I enjoying watching you get them. Almost as satisfying, and less work!
Thank you very much. And yes, far less work. haha.
John I love your videos but for me the real pleasure is to see the” take”. I appreciate the point you made about shining the light on the water but surely you can play a beam on your rod tops only. Keep it going mate.
If it was that easy to show on camera, I would have done it John. 😉🎣
Hello James
Another nice clip
Thank you mate
❤️ from Iran 🇮🇷
- It is my pleasure. 😊🎣
It just shows you can catch big fish on small hooks, nicely filmed and explained, love this series as its the kind of fishing I would love to do. Thanks for posting.

- Its always the way isn't it. haha.
Really nice congers. I really like the shore fishing videos. Brilliant.
Thank you Neil, glad you're enjoying them 😊🎣
Brilliant video . I use gripper leads for rough ground myself I go a little further and bend the end of the wires outwards and back in on them selves
They work a treat don’t they. 👍🏻
It's always a treat watching you show your personal techniques on how to catch your quarry John even though it is doubtful I'll ever get to try them, I am grateful for the information.
It is my pleasure to share with you Tim. 😊

Your amazing John a breath of fresh air x
Nice video mate, you're channel is definitely one of the best for sea fishing, full of tips and information for everyone, not just beginners but people who have been fishing for a while, you can never know enough. Good luck with it all mate.
You will never know it all mate so there should always be something to learn - that's how I see it. 😉🎣
Really enjoyed this one John. The baiting up info was great and the logical advice on why you’re using grippers on rough ground.
My pleasure bud. 😊
Really good , fished for decades but never groundbaited , given me a idea for my close in bassing
Works great for bass if you have the patience to do it for a week or so. A couple of mackerel carcasses into a gulley every evening for a week. 😉🎣
Why weren't most of my old school teachers like this fella. I could have been a genius!!.
I spent most of my time at school in trouble eventually getting expelled. Go figure. 🤣🤷🏻♂️
Enjoyed the vid,, again!! Overjoyed to see you wearing a life jacket again!! Wish other anglers would follow your example!
Thank you Howard, you will see I am almost always wearing one when out on the shore or the boat. I do hope others follow this example. Take care mate and stay safe. 😊
A really interesting and informative video which taught a non fisherman like myself what I am missing and I'm seriously thinking of taking a one of the many novice fishing trips off the North East Coast of England and having a go catching my lunch. Thank you John for all you do and take care of yourself and family. X
I wish you the very best of luck Nick. 😊
Hi John, Many thanks again, very enjoyable, really enjoy your videos especially whilst we are on lockdown and are unable to move very far....... you take us there. cheers Ian

Great video I'm new to sea fishing from the shore been doing for about 4 months
And I find your video very helpful
And got some good fish to
Thanks John
Really helpful the shore videos
I am glad that you are finding the videos helpful Richard.
Cracking session with some great tips, John. It's been a while since I did any shore fishing but it's always useful to see what's going on and hear a few ideas. Loved the break in the briefing at 5:06 when you just stop speaking and look at the rod tips intently before carrying on :) Top clip with some nice fish mate - cheers
Priorities mate. Thats the difference between a fisherman and a presenter I guess. 😉🎣
@@TheFishLocker exactly - it's just how it should be
Hi john another brilliant film mate. Very educational cheers. Yeah great idea doing more of these. Keep your tips coming bud. All the best from grimsby.
I hope the videos help folks out Carl. 😊🎣
I will try ground baiting next time and see if it makes a difference to where we fish. Thankyou.
- You just need to be aware of where the current is going and how strong. 😉
Been waiting for a shore conger or skate video for ages, yaas John 👌🏻👍🏻🎣
- Sadly we are confined to local areas so no Skate for a while at least.
@@TheFishLocker no worries mate. I'm sure you've got plenty of fish to target locally to keep us entertained and educated.
Great video as always, looking forward to more shore fishing video's
Thanks Mike, tight lines lad. 😊🎣
Superb video as always, you can’t make them fast enough for me! Haha! I find the fish handling and unhooking very useful. Previous to watching this video I wouldn’t have ever dared target a conger but now I feel like I could even though I’m a million miles from that level. If the day ever comes where I find a conger on the end of my line I’ll remember your advice. Thank you.
The whole purpose of these "beginner" videos is for exactly what you have just said. To hopefully help people to increase their learning curve and enjoy fishing more confidently. Best wishes and tight lines. 😊
Great video, like to see more of these 'for beginner' videos. Amazed at the ease with which you handle conger, always afraid of getting bitten. keep up the good work,
I am building on the Shore fishing for beginners playlist mate. A few videos in there now. 😊🎣
Cracking session and some useful tips. Big fish for the shore, as you say just over the side. Can't believe how clear the water is still. Cold perhaps get the lure rod out still for an appropriate mark. Thanks a Million John!
Any time Richard. 😉🎣
Yes please more of this 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it.
That was a good video especially for beginners, really worth watching thank you John tight lines keep safe
My pleasure Liz. 😊🎣
Another great video. Keep ‘em coming! Thanks
Thank you Caroline.
Very interesting. Sounds like the fish get a lot less bashful when night comes. One day, I'm going to want to see how Spargo's Kitchen does up a conger.
That is very true. Lots of fish feed much better at night and in the dark.
Once again another enjoyable video
Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed it. 😊🎣
Great video my friend. Thanks for sharing your fishing adventures.

Nice video John , I’m learning g so much as when I go fishing I struggle to catch a cold Thks
amazing tips please do a lot more cant wait for tips on smooth hounds etc as hopefully warmer weather soon need get prepared
Thank you very much, I hope the videos help people out. I certainly plan to do more. 😊
Thanks for another great vid. Keep them coming mate....Love them. 👍
It is my pleasure mate. 😊🎣
Another good video John.
I make my own leads and for very rough ground I make a few with very long wires.
They are about six inches long and made of soft mild steel wire. I just mould four wires into the lead so they stick straight out of the bottom.
I bend them to 90° and tip the ends up a little more.
Not for distance casting but I find that a foot square of wire helps to stop the lead dropping into a hole and snagging up.
If it does get caught up the soft wire will often bend out and release the lead.
Not foolproof, (if you can find a foolproof method of getting out of snags you'll be every sea anglers best mate!) but it does give a little bit of an extra chance of getting it all back, including the fish.
Those sound a lot like the fixed grip leads used in uptiding. 😊🎣
@@TheFishLocker Yes, but the trick is using very soft wires rather than SS.
I find that if you tighten into the lead a lift they come away nice and easy. If one or more of the wires does end up snagged I find they bend out more often than not.
I'm moving to the Isle of Wight very soon and there's a venue called Warden Ledge that will be ideal for this tactic and it dries out on a long tide do I'll be able to collect any that fail.
These videos are amazing for someone like me wanting to get into sea fishing thank you.
It is my pleasure to share them with you. I hope they help folks out. 😊🎣
Really good video look forward to seeing more shore fishing
Thanks Paul. Take it easy mate. 😊

This was a really good video sir, you showed technique, caught nice fish! and showed compassion. Looking forward to the series. Hello again from Navarre Florida.
Thank you very much John, I am glad that you enjoyed the video. Best wishes and tight lines. 😊
Excellent video. The pier your fishing on looks so ancient, I wish people still built things like that today. Nowadays they just pour concrete. I’m afraid if I ever get to visit the UK l might not be able to leave. Such a beautiful place 👍👍👍👍👍thanks so much for sharing.
That is sadly true, I do not believe people could build things like they used to even if they tried. So much skill has been lost in the race to be modern.
Great video definitely going to use your tips always wanted to catch a conger 🎣
Best of luck to you mate.
