      Fine, if they ban gifts and freebies, it will hurt the Tories and Farage a lot more than Labour. I say Starmer should do it. Bring in a 100% complete ban on freebies. Watch the rhetoric change from the Tories, Farage, Tice and the rightwing press!

      @@Sam88-l4k I agree, but Johnson did a whole host of stuff ranging from immoral to illegal. The point I’m making is that, if this same scandal happened under Johnson, O’Brien would be talking about it as yet another example of his sleaziness. Yet, because it’s Starmer, it’s all OK because the rules technically say so

    • @Sam88-l4k
      @Sam88-l4k หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @danrattigan96 not sure I agree, I've listened to James over many years, and it's more difficult to distinguish between morale and illegal in the last government, as their was daily reports of illegal activity and ill-moral ones. This will be best judged when/if that day comes from Starmer and/or the labour party of any illegal activity. If his stance is the same, then I would definitely agree with you. But until we see anything like the same scale, it's difficult to judge.
      Don't get me wrong, the way to get rid of this ongoing story is for Starmer to introduce policies to make it illegal for any personal donations as gifts. He does have a big enough majority, but i have a feeling it might not get through on a parliamentary vote as a lot of MP's across the house will lose out on this. That's why Conservative mp's haven't been really up in arms about it because unless they are completely silly, they haven't got a leg to stand on to attack Labour. Based on their own problems
      What I do see, though, most news outlets, paper form, and tv have made this a much bigger deal than they did with Conservatives, for their own biase

    Starmer didn't quite declare his "gifts' though, did he? He set off declaring his Savile Row suits as office expenses. He then changed his declaration to clothing at a later date. He then provided the excuse that he was unable to go to the tailor's shop due to his fame and security concerns (do remember this man is a multi-millionaire and could call shops to come to him). In the meantime, he failed to declare his wife's clothing gifts, the payments made to a luxury shopping assistant provided for her, and even the cost of alterations. Curiously he seems to have been able to attend an optician in order to get the prescription needed for new glasses which were also paid for by his friend. His friend then received a pass for number 10 Downing Street. It's all a bit grubby really.

    James is a million miles off on Starmer. The issue about clothes and gifts only a side issue which hurts more due to him targetting the least broad shoulders in pensioners just above UC, Long term Sick, Unemployed all the most vunerable whilst leaving the richest alone.
    It is without doubt Starmer lives to be made to feel important and to be fussed over. if you look into him as head of Public Prosecutions his expenses were double his predecessor including chauffer driven rides back n forth to the office, first and business class flights and travel the list goes on. I havent heard OBrien talk of the punitive policies coming in. Comparing him to the last lot of crooks is not a reason to give him a pass for being a Tory lite austerity party. He did tell us thats what he was gonna do in fairness he didnt hide it and sicafants like JOB who is so self delusional, arrogant and unable to take his blinkers off until its rammed home will continue to be his knight in shining armour

Dressing someone else's flat to look like your own is an obvious sign of this. James O'Brian would scream "no rules were broken", which is possible but why go to lengths to hide it?
