    I used to work at HSBC in BGC. No bias but BGC is really a very modern city. I am vacationing in UK now and I would say BGC is decades ahead. Everyone should really visit. I just hope other cities could emulate.

    • @bayareatanders

      IT park and Cebu Business Park in Cebu City managed by Ayala Land has close resemblance to BGC but the high rise buildings are mostly BPOs (call centers) with a few residential condos and a new mall. Most restaurants operate 24/7 to support call center people. They also have traffic marshals similar to BGC.

      My wife used to work there, when i visited her in their office i was so kind of shock their office building was so beautiful, very modern than her previous ofc in Makati. The same as when you roam around the city streets, many foreign stores you can see.

      Depends what you are looking for . Canary Wharf in London is modern.
      BGC Is one small area in the Philippines. It’s great. But I’m sure there are probably more futuristic eg Dubai , or parts of Singapore.

    • @renatobrito6138
      @renatobrito6138 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nickfifield1 As a long time traveller i've been to those places already. My last trip was in europe including the Uk. You are correct they are beautiful but here in Bgc i was also amazed when i went there. And there are more futuristic cities being built outside manila/makati or even bgc.

      "one of the best spots of my country"
      Fair enough, but to me this looks like a place to avoid. I'm looking for the actual Filipino places, not replicas of European or American communities - no matter how good replicas they are.

It never stop to amaze me: my favorite place is Venice Canal Mall, High Street and the one you featured UPTOWN Mall, the place looks like mini-Las Vegas with the lights, you guys did not feature the fountain show there, its so stunning. Thanks for sharing.

    Was there at High Street a couple of nights ago and dined at Itallanis. Little pricey but they give you huge servings. Landers is like Costco. They also have S&R big box membership warehouse. Stayed at Seda hotel just across the High Street. Also the street nanesc are similar in Manhattan- Avenues (5th Ave) and Street ( 30th street). The whole area used to be a US Military Base named Fort McKinley before WW2 and until the Philippine Independence from the US in 1946. It then became a Philippine Military Army Base (Fort Bonifacio, named after a Filipino Revolutionary hero who fought against Spain). They still have the McKinley Hill area with Condos, restaurants and cafes.

    Very true Michael, the face of the Philippines, especially Metro Manila is about to change BIG time.....there are soooo many projects and infrastructure being built.......just to name a few......Horizon Manila, Manila Solar City, Metro Manila Subway, New Manila International Airport, Arcovia City, Bridgetowne, and Arca South. It's been a hobby of mine to see these developments over time and hope in my lifetime to experience them in person!

    • @artvictor5044
      @artvictor5044 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yes it was true but not only in metro Manila but to whole or other parts of the country like in Mindanao, Visayas, Palawan and nearby provinces of Luzon that infrastructor projects construction were in progress and going on despite the Covid 19 pandemic. What we are waiting for was the construction of the largest International airport here in Luzon and that was in Bulacan Province over looking the Manila Bay. The purpose of it was to decongest the Manila International Airport of so much local and international flights. It was envisioned as the widest, largest and most modern International airport the Philippine have in the future with complete anemities for transport services like fast Trains, wide and long roads and highways, and other mass transports from and tru or vice-versa from metro Manila to New International Airport and to other parts of provinces.

      Solar City will forever remain a blueprint. It won't happen, just like some blueprints for Manila in the past. Solar City is grand, No. They already scrapped it. Be content with what we have.

      Best BGC description so far not because it's thought to be the most modern city for it's not, (yet, we can't underestimate the Philippines) but every single feature he sees is accounted, and it makes you wait to listen for more and BGC definitely didn't stop developing, we'll have more to see.

    Michael has been to many large cities all over the world, never befire seen the picture perfect, no graffiti, not even the tiniest litter on the ground, no blind spots to security anywhere and on such a massive scale in size. This is more like a huge movie set or Disneyland for comparison!

      Even the second tallest one (Shanghai World Financial Center) in the building cluster is almost taller than the tallest building in any other city in this page (with the exception of Dubai, in which Shanghai World Finance Center can be the second tallest building if it's built there). Shanghai
      The city of Shanghai is the best representative modern city of China, high-rise buildings can be found almost everywhere in the city. On the east side of the Huangpu River, there are three giant towers soaring into sky, they form the world's tallest supertall building cluster.
      rank second in world in Most Futuristic Cities in the World in 2021.

Check. Cleanliness. Check. Foods. Check. Space to eat. Check. Grocery store and shopping mall. Check. And so many more. So glad the streets are not made of cobble stones which is harder to walk especially with arthritic knee. Lol. Will go visit next near. For sure BGC and Cebu on the radar. We'll keep watching. Security guards in the Philippines will not tackle you if you break the rules, they will just talk to you politely. Even police men will not do that especially if you are a foreigner. You will not feel threatened by authorities here. Definitely, no police brutality. I lived in the US for 33 years, every time I get pulled over on the road, I always feel discomfort and nervous just by the way they ask you questions, very intimidating.

    Bonifacio Global City was the place where my cousins used to live with their parents, that is until very recently they moved to Singapore and Japan separately to study abroad. Both graduated from college, and I've visited their house in BGC countless times. It's fun, it's like being in America all over again considering how advanced it is over there!
    Truly, BGC is ahead of its time, but it was much better than most American cities I've been in from 2015/16 and 2018. I wanna return to BGC again, and perhaps after graduating college at the Philippine Military Academy I'll get myself a house or condo here at BGC.
    Additionally, seven months later I drove to BGC since I am now a non-pro driver :DD

    I'm so glad hearing from foreigner what's like in The Philippines. Hopefully in a future The Philippines will be a one of the best destination in Asia. For being a 3rd world country hoping that someday the well being, life of most of my country men will alleviate their life.

      sorry, Philippines is no longer a 3rd world country for having a highest gdp growth in Asia And probably one in the world with 8.3% in 1st quarter and probably remain highest by the year end which could tend to be a fasterst growing economy in the world. the Philippines is already considered a new highly Industrialize country in the World.and as you look at the video i guess BGC is way more better than we compare to other world richest cities like Tokyo, NY, LA, Singapore, Hongkong, Sydney, Paris, toronto or even London maybe Dubai is little bit ahead of BGC maybe the only thing lack in BGC is the modern transportation like subway which is A really huge and convinient way to connect throughout the cities of MANILA towards BGC. so i think your word of 3rd world country doesnt fit in anymore. thank you!

    • @ashleepe_
      @ashleepe_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I do not mean to argue by any case but I’d like to affirm that the Philippines is called a developing country. The term third world was used so long ago, those media even classified Japan as a Second world country, which is certainly not the case today. But yeah, i agree on other points you’ve said~
      BGC is a sign of modern Filipinos alleviating poverty and of the huge income inequality in this country.
