I feel like Japan is so well known for Tokyo, Osaka, and other big cities. But the countryside in Japan is so underrated for travelers. Imho, the countryside is where all the good traditional cultures lie untouched. Thanks for introducing the scenaries there, it felt like I was back there!
sooo much to see and do in the countryside, I hope more people visiting venture out and can learn more about different areas! The tourism really helps smaller areas too
I went to Gunma my first time in Japan. I did the usual Tokyo, Kyoto but definitely wanted to experience the beautiful countryside. And I'm so glad I did.
I think people cling to bigger cities because they are more accommodating towards foreigners. I would absolutely love to visit the countryside, but I worry that it might be very difficult with my non-existing Japanese skills... On my second visit to Japan I travelled to Okinawa, and as much as I loved the views and the vibes, the language barrier was already very real (even fast food joints like KFC in Naha had no English menu/people seemed stressed about our presence) and honestly, I just didn't feel very welcome (but I realize that Okinawa might have its own reasons for not liking foreigners very much). Learning a couple of phrases and a good attitude might be enough to enjoy Tokyo, but outside of cities things seem to get a bit more complicated :(
Rebuilding forests with a variety of tree species is such HUGE work for sustainability and for protecting the forest itself, in Canada we replanted Ash trees wherever we cut and only Ash trees, then we had a pest infestation that came from China and it killed almost all our Ash, and cleared a lot of area in our forests because we only planted one kind, diversity in forests is so important
Remember when we could go outside? In the before times? Children point and laugh and say to me _"you crazy old man! There's no such thing as outside! 'Outside' is a made-up story our parents told us in order to scare us into behaving ourselves."_ I just shake my weary weathered head, shed a small tear, and wonder if my inside-addled brain did indeed to just make-up the very notion of 'outside' to stop myself from going cosmically bananas.
Forestry is actually a really varied industry. I used to work for a conservation agency in the US and out foresters would go out every day to assess the health of the trees and see if any needed to be brought down for safety reasons alone trails. They did a bunch of other stuff too but man, it was interesting. I also love Thomas and Percy! Grow strong little trees!
Remember to hit 'like' to the Tanabe tourism group that sponsored this feels like they got their money's worth and sponsor her again sometime! (Seriously, marketing types watch stuff like that and it matters.)
AHhhhh Shiori is so endearing ♥ so much positivity! This really looks like an amazing area. When i can eventually afford the trip, Kumano will be top of the list!
Thanks for telling us about the forest, sustainability, and showing us the fruit and veg. A side of Japan I've always wanted a perspective on. You got a new subbie 🥰
Your personality & humour has been coming out so much in the last 6 or so videos I've watched compared to older ones I've been watching and last years. it's making the videos so enjoyable to watch! (the old ones are still good tho lol) looking forward to more
Hi Emma and Shiori, I really love it when you do this type of informative video as well as the general good vibe and sense of humour thank you guys, Cheers, Muffy from Oz..
I’m a bit confused about something in the video. I was super excited to see someone working to replace the mountains of sugi with a different variety of tree (oak/acorns), but it sounded like just replacing one monoculture with another. Are they planting a good variety of trees in the deforested areas, or is it all the same kind? It would be great to hear that were working to increase the overall biodiversity as part of this effort.
3:45 don’t worry Emma. I understand the struggle with those types of bridges. When I was 5 or 6 I tried crossing a bridge like and the a log broke and I fell into a river. It was pretty traumatic so it’s completely fine to distrust flimsy log bridges 😤
I stoped watching your videos for a couple of years or so, and came back to such a shock you have come out of your shell so much I feel like (at least on TH-cam), you seem so confident and joyful (not saying your earlier vids didn’t have this). Also your editing and filming has become so amazing! So keen to catch up on all your videos and I’m excited for what has to come!
Shiori seems good company to go on a trip with, nice happy energy! All the activities looked like so much fun, I would love to visite one day. Loved the video! 😊👍🏻
Currently in a funk so am binge watching your videos from the past year. Just have to tell you how much you are cheering me up. Every video makes me laugh or smile. Thank you Emma!! Sending you out of funk vibes from England 😀
I love Wakayama! Done the Kumano Kodo a few times and it's aboslutely gorgeous. Nakahechi route is the best, going through Yunomine onsen and ending at Nachi Taisha. I really love that Nakagawa-san is replanting. Always felt sad looking at some of the swaths of forested trees while hiking Kumano Kodo. Thanks so much for the video!
Kangaroos are all muscle so it would make sense why they're meat is tough! It was a super cool seeing of all the various activities going on in Kumano!
Oak trees are great (might be saying that because they're endemic to the UK too, lol)! Might be worth getting him to think about other tree variations though - Oak can still cause allergies, and variation helps drive that down.
I now am beating myself for not going to Kumano when I was in Japan. It was a crossroad for me that day, either go on with the pre-planed route (Nara) or go to Kumano and watch the fireworks festival and explore the area. It fell on that I didn't find any place to stay that I could book in advance (on short notice) that was cheap enough so I went to Nara instead (LOVED IT TOO!). But now Kumano is right there on my to do-list for the next trip! :D Thanks Emma and Shiori for showing us more of this area! ;)
Your video in 2019 was the reason I booked a night at the farm in Kumano. Sadly Covid ruined it, but you better believe I remember that place and plan on going again.
Great video, definitely a lovely place ❤️ quick question... Is there a link or a website to the woodworking place you visit at all please. And will your next day walk/ hike video been coming soon? Many thanks.
When Shiori said “I feel like rooolllling dowwwn” I couldn’t stop laughing

Best moments 2021
I watched this with my 6 yo daughter and she laughed too. It was so funny hahahaha
Shiori be like : they se me rollin~

This exactly, I mean I do wanna see the big cities but I really wanna see the country side it looks so beautiful

Emma crossing bridge was a glimpse of 80-year-old Emma. 😀
The most cozy I've felt in 500 years. I love this.

Alternate video title: "Gotta go fast"
Almost 18 minutes with Emma and Shiori! This is going to be great!
Forestry is actually a really varied industry. I love love Shiori's facial expressions, thank you for focusing on them.
My dream of working in japan as an environmental engineer is near, thank you for showing us how nature can be beautiful in there 🥰
"The fit, the drip, the audacity". The hottest new mixtape bout to drop. 😜

It’s always great to see people working towards saving the environment!
I'm happily surprised from the amount of joy I got from watching those tree's be planted 🌳✨
Remember to hit 'like' to the Tanabe tourism group that sponsored this feels like they got their money's worth and sponsor her again sometime! (Seriously, marketing types watch stuff like that and it matters.)
That conservation/reforestation effort is 👍.
Japan countryside is breathtaking.
AHhhhh Shiori is so endearing ♥ so much positivity!

I am having trouble sleeping, not feeling well. These videos are so peaceful and lovely! Thank you!

Anyone else vibing (as usual) with Emma's uploads?
Your personality & humour has been coming out so much in the last 6 or so videos I've watched compared to older ones I've been watching and last years. it's making the videos so enjoyable to watch! (the old ones are still good tho lol)
looking forward to more
your videos are the perfect way to wind down at the end of a productive day.
Shiori seems like a lovely friend!
Hi Emma and Shiori, I really love it when you do this type of informative video as well as the general good vibe and sense of humour thank you guys, Cheers, Muffy from Oz..
Shiori and Emma on the road again really good fun and enjoyable to see trees being planted so important for the earth.
I’m a bit confused about something in the video. I was super excited to see someone working to replace the mountains of sugi with a different variety of tree (oak/acorns), but it sounded like just replacing one monoculture with another.

Could you cross the bridge a bit slower please, I blinked and I missed it
Indeed! she was too fast for me too!
Until now, i never realised how totally adorable Shiori is.

Awwww, Natasha! I loved that cheesey AF Kumano intro you both did
I love Emma's random stick drawing of Shiori holding the camera up for her 😂🤣😂🤣😂. And i was salivating while watching them eat the mikan taruto. 😍

Thank you! I hope you enjoyyyy 😄
@@TokidokiTraveller omg thanks for replying been watching for a long time and loved the vid btw
What a fantastic adventure. Thanks for sharing.
I love the tree replanting to diversify the forests!!! YAS. Also I'm 90000000% envious of the venison you got to eat omg
Oh man I'm so jealous! I love mandarins. Some fresh ones sound so good!
Emma, your videos always put a smile on my face just when I need one the most! ❤️🖤
Shiori was so generous!!! 🥰
Currently in a funk so am binge watching your videos from the past year. Just have to tell you how much you are cheering me up. Every video makes me laugh or smile. Thank you Emma!! Sending you out of funk vibes from England 😀
Such a fun trip. when Shiori looks like a giant @ 12:00, you have to know that the table is small
The restaurant food was so beautifully presented, and looked tasty.

You mean Oak trees... don't blame you, been an expat over a decade and my English is deteriorating by the day.
LMAO I FORGOT OH NO
I was thinking, Surely someone with British parents knows an Oak tree!
The outro to your video is the dopest thing! Love the suit on you and the icecream “hat” perfecto! Lol
I have been to a few of e areas you are in now. That waterfall is amazing.
ah, your videos always fill me with so much joy..... you're such a magnetic person, i hope you know!
kuuumano ga tsuki, tsuuki
ume juice ga tsuki, tsuuki
that ume juice looked so refreshing and the food looked good too👌
This is such an interesting video! I never forestry could be building up forests as opposed to cutting them down.
Your content makes me giggle and smile, and I can't thank you enough. It's the giggles you didn't know you needed.
I can't get over the new outro. Also, this video was so cool and cutely edited! thanks for making me smile :)
-.- now ive the Kumano song stuck in my head for another week...again!
Tanabe is where I did my student exchange program! Love seeing it featured.
Your outro is suuuuuper cool. You nailed those moves
Loving the funny edits you’re doing with the vlogs lately, top notch!

I love you two! You guys are amazing, thanks for bringing a bit of Japan to us every time! Keep it up, stay safe
You’ll have to go back and check on your trees in a few years so we can all see how big they grow.🥰🥰
So many amazing activities! And I always love seeing the different food. Delicious!
this looks so fun and relaxing
Looks beautiful. I have only been through Wakayama prefecture on the train and not explored it properly.
I love your tour videos!
Kangaroos are all muscle so it would make sense why they're meat is tough! It was a super cool seeing of all the various activities going on in Kumano!
New to your channel. Loving the content and upbeat presentation style. Keep it up up good work 👍
Emma is really sweet, I hope you continue to enjoy her content!
