Those cats are like pulling in a rock! Oddly enough my wife thought she was on a big cat and it was a several pound rock that had mussels on it and the hook grabbed them just right. I couldn't believe that the mussel could hold the weight of the rock lol.
Mike, another great video! Been waiting for you to post this one. Those catfish were nice too! You should have put the scale on them. I think the first one was 6 to 7 lbs? and the other one maybe 10 or 11 lbs? I have never seen that set up you where using..is like..a Texas rig with a round weight? Or you have the weigth like 6 or 7 inches infront of the worm? Keep on posting love all your videos and will like to see you on a fishing tournament.
Always fun catching those other fish. Snagged a 20+lb carp by the tail on a crankbait one time. That was quite a fight for a while thinking it was a really big bass, even pulled the boat some. Do you see any carp around while fishing at Apache?
I fish all year so by the time the real heat arrives I'm acclimated. I drink tons of water the day before and during fishing, wear a hat & UV clothing that covers most of my exposed skin & wear a mask on my face. I also arrive at the lake an hour before sunrise & fish until about noon or so (depends on the wind & how the bite is going). It's not too bad. I never really get hot and I rarely even sweat. It's typically cooler on the water and even better if there's a slight breeze. If all else fails, I dunk in the water to cool off. =)
@@danspaulding1716 Howdy Dan, I dropshot anywhere from 10-20ft. Anything less and I'm throwing a Texas rig or wacky worm. Rarely fish deeper than 20ft.
Amazing upload as always. I was going to take my kiddo to Roosevelt for some catfishing but I may have to reconsider after watching this 😅 Crankbait bite in the afternoon and evening has been 🔥
Thank you! The cats at Apache get hungry this time of year and they get HUGE! They loves worms but I've caught 'em trolling chatterbaits also (I troll a lot when moving spots. I've had really good success oddly enough.)
I got a black and blue thumbnail from a catfish. Happens to every bass fisherman. Side note, have you ever tried using a lip clamp on your scale? I find they don't get off as often and there is less risk of harming their gills.
Thanks Mike! I love watching this and learning. Trying to learn more about catching bass.
Glad you like it! I learned a TON when I started bass fishing just by watching TH-cam videos. More to come! Thanks for watching!

Wow! That's amazing. I've never heard of that happening before. Sounds like that rock was a keeper! Hah!
Great content brother! Where do you put in at?
@@benjaminearley6678 Thank you! I usually launch from the boat ramp at Burnt Corral.

Thank you! Big cats for sure! I'm using a dropshot rig for most of the catches.
@@flipflopfishingAZ thanks Mike.
Eventful day out there man. Nice fight on those cats. Love the way you release your bass. 👍👍
Thank you! Was def one of those days but it all worked out. =)
Lake is full of those bluegill greenie hybrids. I catch like 10 of them for every pure bluegill.
@@logannewman4532 Oh yeah, certain times of the year they're everywhere.

Definitely. Not a big fan of catfish or carp but they both put up a really good fight. Lots of carp at Apache. See them all the time. Some giants too!
How hot was it out there? How do you manage lol

I’m right there with you like seriously those cat fish couldn’t stay off your hook. Great video you got my sub
Hah! I can't stand catfish but there's no denying they put up a good fight. The big ones are like trying to move a log. Thanks for the sub!!!
Massive day but a dumb mistake nearly ruined it on Apache lake, AZ
@@buttdreads Fact! 😆 🤣
Hey Mike
When you’re at Apache what’s the average depth you’re fishing, looks like it drops quick
Thanks man
