Ventures sound great in a well balanced concert in Japan--Mel is simply an outstanding drummer, as well as Jerry, Don and Bob lending polished performances!
Mel's son Leon is still going strong on the drums for the current Ventures. Leon is an AMAZING drummer. We saw them just a couple years ago at the Tin Pan in Richmond.
Totally agree with your statement , brilliant guitarist that does not require tremelo / whammy to make a good sound. So just give credit when such talent exists.
