I've always respected Vietnam veterans even more than other veterans due to the fact that when they came home they were not praised or honored like other veterans had been. In some cases they were spit on and insulted and they came home to a thankless and judgemental society. Thank you to all the men who served and gave their lives during the Vietnam war. Your service, your sacrifice, and your heroism will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated.
That’s what the Government wanted. If anyone let our troops down, sadly it was the same people who sent them to fight a war they wouldn’t be allowed to win. They didn’t even have the guts to call it what it was; IT WAS A WAR!.
❤️🌌🗺️🌎🌍🌏 O IK & what’s Evn worse is th@ the 60’s was the time period in which they said ‘Your going to the war’ it was not like u gotta choice @ the time Like your only 2 choices of not going were to old or to yng (Luckily My Dad was to yng PHFU) yeah those poor veterans were (pretty much) screwed R.I.P.
Having stood in front of that wall before, it's hard not to be overwhelmed by emotions... The sacrifice the kids made going there and the way we turned our backs on all those names of honor...
I never served but live in DC so I've seen the wall many a times. Always chokes me and I"m humbled to have the freedoms today. It hurts to watch when you see someone older just crying and looking at the wall.
Always loved the detail that the wife/love of the NVA solider that tries to kill Moore and dies by him, get his diary and knows in his last moments he thought of her. Really brought home the evenhandedness of the narrative and that no individual loss was any less than another.
My great uncle fought in this war. He never ever speaks on it. He went in as a drunkard and came out a Christian, later a preacher over his own church. I can only imagine what horrors he witnessed, the things he had to do, and the nightmares he has. I’m happy that he came home, but I do feel some grief because of his traumatic experience 10,000 miles from the mountains of southwest Virginia.
Think I understand the veterans who came back. In fact all people who passed war and came back they live with the war. Part of it stands in the soldiers who passed it. Never been to war myself but I really think I understand these things. My real respect to all soldiers and veterans. God be with you. And may God give peace to all people who never came home
Yes amen, the debate can always be had whether it was right or wrong and each side in a conflict has their reason, but the soldiers always deserve respect for what they're risking, and yes idc what people say Russians as well as Ukrainians.
I agree quoting Sabaton here. "It is not about the men, it is not about the right, it's about the men who fought for them" the Sabaton song is called Hearts of Iron.
The fact that the war happened at all is infuriating to me. JFK was going to withdraw all troops and advisors from Nam by 1965. That’s probably why he was killed.
That's what hurts the most. Just seen a BBC documentary on the Falklands conflict, they came back all carrying terrible memories but they came back to thousands on the docks.......these poor lads, which they were, young men came back to empty ness. Heartbreaking
@@grovercleavland2698 Can't say for sure why he was killed exactly nobody for sure knows but war has happened for thousands of years, it's brutal and sad but it's human nature, it won't ever end, each side always has their reasons
Vietnam veterans I respect the most! To come back and have americans treat them rudely and disrespect! Not like other vets today have parades, celebrations and such.
I just want to say all of the many men & women who have or currently serving for the armed forces if it’s here in the uk or the USA thankyou for your sacrifice that you all make everyday one love to all of you ❤
The stories of these men is exactly what made me join the marine corps. I know this is army but I wanna honor the legacy they left behind in defense of their country
Americans need to be thankful for the one's who gave and the one's who gave all . The home of the free and the land of the brave . Will never be forgotten. Carry on men
My father served with the 101st & 82nd Airborne Divisions, now even though the Air Cav & Airborne were different he always said they stuck together and beat out the NVA & Vietcong
It’s rare in our movies but seeing the North Vietnamese girl crying at her own lost love, whom we saw get blown away, made me tear up even more. There are no ‘bad guys’ in war.
0:33 That soldier's wife was beautiful, beautiful blonde hair, sensual lips and a beautiful pearl necklace adorned her beautiful neck. How sad that she lost her husband and her daughter, her father.

It’s not fair no one welcomed home those two veterans at 0:08. Makes me sad. They rightfully threw ticker taped parades for many WW2 veterans, Vietnam vets deserved the same. Makes me sad.
I agree. "Hate War, but love the American Warrior"- Hal Moore. Since their return and after many many years as perception has changed Bill Beck (pushing wheelchair) and Russell Adams (Sitting in wheelchair) have been honored on several occasions. But certainly not when they needed it most upon their return. After Adams was injured Bill Beck jumped on the M-60 and as Hal Moore has stated over and over Beck saved his battalion. One of the Veterans of this battle, George Nye, helped to start the Maine Troop Greeters who make sure every Soldier gets the welcome home they deserve.
The saddest part for me is when he says we who have seen war never stop seeing it in the silence of the night we will always hear the screams. To all those who served thank you for your service I sleep relatively safe because of men and women like you. Never was so much owed by so many to so few 💪🫵

They tried to send that diary home but their was no contact info within. Nice touch for a movie
Reminds me of several cases of USA veterans returning to Vietnam to actually hand back the diary of former PAVN or NLF soldiers and thier families

yep the Vietnam war was ran by the CIA just to smuggle drugs into America, thats why you had so many crackheads during the 1960's and 70's
still the soldiers deserve to be remembered and respected
