Hike to Kuenkhen Longchen Zhuthri (Tharpaling)

The beautiful day hike from Lamai Gonpa to Tharpaling takes about 3 hours with normal pace. We hiked from Lamai Gonpa Dzong (which is now Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research) uphill through the conifers forest till alpine forest at 3800m & above. We spotted beautiful sunbirds, warblers, parrotbill, tragopan, monals, pheasant and many others. Finally we reached at the Zhuthri (3851m) where Kuenkhen Longchen Rabjampa (1308-1364), the great philosopher of the Dzogchen, seated on the rock.
