Have the full size version, love this pedal; but also have a Pork Loin on the board and a Green Rhino for a full Way Huge dirt section. Wish there was a footswitch to switch between the two drives

Excellent review! And love the Serek bass. This helped clear up a bunch of questions I had about the settings options. Also, that I'm not crazy that the main Volume nob is VERY hot. I also don't put it up past 9:00 most of the time. Thanks!
Is it possible to set the knobs to get a really good OD sound from the Pork Loin side of things and then flip the switch and have those knob positions work for a good fuzz sound as well? Would there be a huge jump in volume/dip in low end? Or is it more realistic to tweak all the knobs each time you flip the switch to get the best sounds out of both sides?

I really don't like using a dirt pedal without a clean blend. Even turning up the bass on the amp just doesn't bring it back, and that just means I have to reach over and turn a knob when I kick a pedal on. Although, unrelated-- i just noticed in the 'clean preamp' sound, it's noisy as hell in the background. is that the pedal? You talked about the issue of clean blended ODs just sounding like one sound over another. the 3Leaf audio Doom 2 is designed with exactly that in mind, and it has the option of engaging an LPF on the clean sound to make the tone come together cohesively. Another great bass drive is the Hamstead Soundworks Subspace, but there's just too much to talk about with that one lol
Sorry i missed this comment! I hear you on the clean blend. If that's the type of sound you're after, there's really no way around having one. My electricity in my house is garbage, and i'm playing with a single coil, so the noise is more those things than the pedal.
Great video Hondo, thanks for your work! Have you tried the Darklgass Alpha Omicron at all? I'd be interested to hear how this compares as they both have a similar feature set, though with the AOm more aggressive. Thanks man
I have the Alpha Omega. The differences between the two drives are not as big, and both are pretty aggressive. I'd say the AO is more like two aggressive distortions than an overdrive and a fuzz. Still a sick pedal!
@@HondoFelder Thanks for the thoughts Hondo. I use overdrive way more than distortion, but find distortion useful for chaining with other effects for synth tones, so maybe the Way Huge would be more versatile for my needs in that respect!
I wish I still had these so I could do a real comparison for you! I personally prefer the Brown Acid for more of the big wild fuzz sound. The pork and pickle is definitely more tame and controlled by comparison. I can't think of a good comparison for the OD. It is very full and has nice low end, but it doesn't have the articulation like some of the more modern ODs like DG and the MBD2. It's its own little furry beast haha. Sorry if that's not helpful! Feel free to hit me up with more questions if you have them.

@@HondoFelder Only reason I say I might have made the wrong choice is only because this one sounds so gnarly and appears to have a few more tone options than the Brown Acid. Brown acid super badass as well obviously but this one just seems to kick so much ass.
@@therusticcrust2258 This one definitely has the Brown Acid beat for versatility due to the dual circuits. Off the top of my head though, I would say the MXR gets gnarly in a way that i dont think the Way Huge is capable of. I'll confirm this in the video. Keep an eye out👀

I ended up moving on from this pedal since it wasn’t serving a purpose for me at the time. My musical needs went in a very different direction. I think its solid for playing live though.🤘🏽

This thing sounds amazing! Both sides... just wish each side had a separate engage switch so you could do one side or the other, or both together

That sounds real good.But speaking of pickles my fuzz of choice is the Wren and Cuff ,Pickle Pie Hella Bass. Smooth as an Angora sweater.

Tough call. Really depends on the situation, but personally i'd go for the Beta more often.
