    Except for the first 3 minutes, and last clip at 168th Street and Hillside Avenue, the entire video takes place at the 165th Street Bus Terminal, near Jamaica Center.

    Wonder why the MTA refuses to purchase buses from Gillig?

    • @hakeemspiveyakabusforcejesus
      @hakeemspiveyakabusforcejesus  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gillig is a mainly suburban bus contractor, and mostly orders buses for cities of a million people or less. Nassau County has 1.3 million people, and since Nassau is right next to Queens, you'll see Gilligs operating inside the City.
      The MTA orders buses in the hundreds, and are loyal New Flyer and Novabus customers.

      The MTA tested a Gillig Phantom in 2005 (it was actually a Hybrid #5770). And they didn't like it, and so the MTA did the unthinkable: they scrapped a Brand New Bus. Gillig was not happy, and dropped the relationship with the MTA altogether.

      I rode a couple of those NJT NABIs last year. I actually like the ones with the Caterpillars (2008s) more than the Cummins (2009-13).
