    Barbie The Welder is an American metal sculptor, published author of six books, and an advocate for the skilled trades from Pompano Beach, Florida.
    Growing up in a deeply creative home, Barbie’s Mom is a published cartoonist and her Dad a jack of all trades, Barbie was encouraged by both parents to work with her hands and mind to create. Inspired by the movie Cast Away, starring Tom hanks, Barbie attended an adult welding program at Elmira, New York Boces in November 2007 and was hired at Cameron Manufacturing And Design in Horseheads, New York in March 2008 where she learned the art of welding and fabrication from the brilliant craftsman she worked with. Barbie took her fabrication skills home and taught herself how to design and create art in her garage after work at night and on the weekends.
    Barbie quit her job she loved to realize her dream and become a full-time artist September 1, 2014.
    Because of the influence Bob Ross had on her growing up, Barbie began teaching how to weld art through her TH-cam channel in 2015 after not being able to find resources to learn.
    Soon after she was invited by a publisher to write a book teaching how to weld art, and How To Weld Horseshoe Art; 30 Projects You Can Easily Weld At Home was born. Barbie went on to write and self publish five more books, How To Weld Scrap Metal Art; 30 Easy Welding Projects You Could Make At Home, How To Weld Silverware Animals Metal Art Welding Projects For Fun and Profit, The Inspiration Blueprint; How To Design and Create Your Inspired Life, Fuck You Fuel; How To Turn Shit Into Sugar, and The Artist Guide To Branding, Marketing and Selling Art Online.
    Working with Bogi Latiner for a month in 2017 on Bogi’s Girl Gang Garage all woman’s frame up build of a 57 Chevy pick up later unveiled at Sema became a mentorship for Barbie that continues to help her grow herself and her business. Barbies other inspirations include Indian Larry and Billy Lane both who caught her attention through the TV series biker build off in early 2000. The craftsmanship and creativity of both men spoke to her soul.
    Barbie started out riding on the gas tank of her dad‘s Honda motorcycle because she was too little to hold on sitting behind him, so when she was asked by Jesse James Dupree, lead singer of Jackyl, to design and create two sculptures for Harley Davidson she jumped at the chance driving the 24 hours to Sturgis by herself from NY and sculpting HOGs 35th anniversary sculpture live at Sturgis motorcycle rally at the Pappy Hoyle Campground and then she returned home to sculpt Harley Davidson’s 115th anniversary sculpture in her garage which was later presented to Harley Davidson on stage during the Jackyl concert at the 115 anniversary celebration in Milwaukee.
    Barbie has welded live at Americade Motorcycle Rally, SEMA show in Vegas for Miller Welders, Harley Davidsons 115th Anniversary, and at shows and events up and down the east coast.
    Barbie has designed and created sculptures for Miller Welders, the American Welding Society, Chicago Pneumatic, Carolina Shoe Company, two cities and clients in many countries.

    Barbie! I just bought your book! Thank you!! I am so grateful to you for writing it for me. It is exactly what I needed to hear. I did whst you did. The 401k, the whole bit... twice. ran thru $50k, then got another job and saved another $50k, and always failed to live the dream. Now I am working my ass off as a wage slave again, 12 hour shifts, beyond exhausted. Too depleted by the time I get home to create. Utterly defeated, feeling hopeless. But you’ve raised me up from the ashes of my dark night of the soul and my spirit loves your beautiful bright happy spirit for being my living example. Knowing you made it happen for yourself brings me joy and I am so happy for you. I’ve always known my only failure was getting my work out there. Being an artist is a luxury and to afford that luxury we need to work especially hard to reach out and touch the hearts of those who can afford to love and support your work.. Thanks for lighting the way. Forever grateful to you for caring enough to share your journey. Keep shining!

      The financial side of being an artists is what I feel trips everyone up. Do you know about passive income??

    • @MrSargenti
      @MrSargenti 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Barbie The Welder - Yes, I wrote a book ( it sold 6 copies on amazon :) Very difficult to get any press at all on that. I also have a website and a working webstore. ( which I eventually took the store offline, after my last year-long attempt went bust) I just gave up and now I am studying, taking a two year course in investing. So buying stocks and trading options is about as passive as I get at the moment. I was hoping the investment income could eventually undo my time constraints (job) and I could get back to being creative when my investment working capital can act as a safety net. Two falls from going live without a net just twisted my head and really f’d me up. I was like you, a puddle of tears at my easel, cause I knew I’d completely come to the end of the road. I didn’t have what it takes. Your book is inspiring me to look at my possibilities again. The day job is killing me and sucking out all my energy. But it pays good. I know now, more than ever, thru experience that my problem is marketing and the way I think, not my work, my personality is weak when it comes to talking to strangers and envoking interest about what I do.

    • @BarbieTheWelder
      @BarbieTheWelder  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was the same way when I first created my heart and I’m still kind of that way as far as being quiet when talking to strangers I grew up being told not to toot my own horn. Going out in marketing and advertising and selling my art was awkward and felt wrong. It’s only through practice just like anything else and realizing that the artist really feeds my soul and if I wanna continue doing it I need to push past the fear. Endless possibilities on the other side of resistance!

      @@BarbieTheWelder think of the song from the Krate Kid, your the best around, no one is ever gonna get you down. Do it with a laugh, I do it a lot in my shop with the guys. They have a laugh at me, but it inspires them to get it DONE! Blue collar HONOR.
