- Halo, Amped, Deathrow, NFL Fever, Mechassault, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. All classic Xbox games. However, one often forgotten is the "4D" game Blinx The Time Sweeper. This cat driven platformer is loaded with charm, available on back compat, and is criminally underrated. Today, we do what we do best and shine a spotlight on the unknown.

I could go all day about how great the first Blinx game is. There's so many little details that I still find out to this day. I always loved reading the manual when I was a child too. One of the most underated aspects of the Original Xbox was the fun little manuals in all of their games. There really isn't another game like Blinx. People complain about the slowness of this game, but I think It's still great. I really enjoyed this video, thanks.
I feel like the slowness just fits the flow of the game, imagining the gameplay of blinx 1 at a fast paced would be really damn weird.

I used to play both this game and the sequel a lot as a kid. It was weird because everyone knew Mario and Sonic at the time but I would be playing this game. It’s just one of those games that only a few people knew about it. This game just showed how the original Xbox was ahead of its time. And some of the features such as the rewind mechanic just showed how capable the Xbox was. The closest thing we have to that today is Forza’s Horizon rewind feature.
I do hope this game has some sort of revival. Like there should be some sort of speed running community. It should be like they did it with SpongeBob BFBB. Like not many remembered that game but when the speed running community made it popular, the devs acknowledged it and made a remake. So I do hope something similar happens to this game.

The art style of this game was so amazing to me as a kid. Playing again last year made me realize how much it actually influenced my art style. A true classic, and I'll have to try the sequel aswell, never knew about that!

BLINX!!!! I had this game when I was like 9-10 years old and liked playing it but never beat it. Man the nostalgia hits hard watching this video. Ton of forgotten memories coming back. Matty - I tried paying Blinx for the first time ever this year and while I thought it was fun, it certainly shows its age. I got soft locked in a level multiple times and just kept restarting. The camera is also atrocious. But I would love to see another try at Blinx.
I had this as a kid and I got soft locked quite a bit, I remember a lot of the puzzles involving record being hard to grasp

For me it was the difficulty, especially the time limit on levels. I think this game really needed some difficulty options, or just to lower the difficulty overall.
This was my fav game as a kid I played immense amounts but never beat the last levels
I went back to replay this game last year on my XSX, but I just couldn't wrap my head around the camera controls! I'm an inverted Y-axis guy and there was no option anywhere whatsoever to change that. I spent as much time fighting the camera as I did fighting the monsters.
Skipped all these kind of games back in the day, then again I wasn't a kid! Now, I have a new appreciation for the art, humor and mechanics of this generation. I always keep an eye out to add them to my collection, if for now other reason than game preservation.

It didn't store it in RAM, it used the hard drive. When it first came out it boasted that it was the first game to take advantage of the hard drive for gameplay.
Blinx 2 was my shit. I loved it snd played it to death. Love that it was co op as well

yeah I agree about the game feeling next gen. it was incredibly impressive, even when compared to what nintendo was doing on the gamecube. next to halo it was a MAJOR technical showcase for the system, and in some ways holds up extremely well even today.

The soundtrack was amazing
Since Microsoft has abandoned the Blinx trademark back in 2014, indicating that they won't be doing another Blinx sequel, it should be possible that Naoto Ohshima along with his staff members at Arzest purchase the Blinx trademark in order to revive the franchise. I would love to see Blinx the Time Sweeper make a comeback as it is such a very underrated platformer that should've been ported on PC, and if Naoto Ohshima and the Arzest team picks up the trademark, the game could probably go multiplatform.

I remember seeing advertisments for this game as a kid and thinking it was cool. I never tried it out because we had a PS2 then. I was surprised when I saw I could play Blinxs on GamePass. The time mechanic holds up well.

I faintly remember there being a sequel, something like "Blinx 2: Masters of Time and Space"? Or does it not exist? I swear I played a sequel and didn't like it as much as the 1st, but I guess that's why the memories are fainter than the original.
Edit: it does exist and I got the name right on the nose. Watching a video of it, the game is definitely a lot different from the 1st.

Blinx 2 is still godtier to play even to this day, easily the most autistic premise to describe to my friends over the year “Cats that use vacuum cleaners to control time versus pigs that use guns and control space”… fricking loved the story and the crazy ass final boss spawning from.. scissors? This game is most random shit to ever grace gaming
Imagine a Blinx reboot with quicker combat, something like Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart while implementing the time mechanics

Seeing Winx just reminds me of the show Winx Club.
Not really as bad as people said it was in current day, idk why it became a joke now, it honestly age well and the environments are still extremely unique and holds up.

Still haven’t gotten around to Blinx 2 yet? they feel like completely different games and they kinda walk you through a lot but it is definitely much more story heavy and I loved that i also think they did the playing as both sides really well the I do feel the final boss was definitely lacking I love the game to this day and really hope someone remakes it and makes it harder since the trademark was abandoned👍(also the sound track is amazing)

You should check out Edge of Eternity Matty. It's a turn based/ tactics JRPG made by an indie French team, Midgar Studios (after the FF7 city. It's on Game Pass and worth a look. You can even get it in physical form for the PS4 or PS5 which is a Game Stop exclusive. The physical copy will become rare I think. I bought one to support the devs even though I dont have a PS5 (yet)

Game producers can learn a lot from these retro games they were so much more innovative.. take Knights into dreams like when certain dates was registered by the internal Xbox clock like Easter day and Christmas day arrived and the game graphics changed to a Christmas theme with snow and Christmas trees baubles and such like.. I think current game makers have become lazy.. all hail these retro games they were very special.

2 flopped hard and the rights and artoon was sold off to activision
I could never get into this game but it is back compat if anyone wants to check it out anyway. Sadly it didn't get the much needed 60 fps boost and the slow camera panning gave me a headache as a result.

does anyone know how to get the game on pc
I've seen lots of people replaying it only really talk about it's first level. Does it suffer from Deus Ex Syndrome or something? As a tyke I never really got into Blinx because I didn't entirely understand the mechanics, but I'm interested again now I'm a little older and wiser (albeit needing to repair the old OG Xbox).
It's more like many are unwilling to take the game seriously after playing it for the memes. A real shame, those Time Controls are ten times more complicated and useful than what this video describes it as. If you have a good imagination and can see the full potential of each Time Control (Even for seemingly unimportant things like your ammo count), you'll love this game, and if you can't (Like those who use Pause and nothing else), the game will be so relentlessly difficult with that unforgiving time limit in the second half that you'll probably not want to play it anymore. I know that sounds intimidating, but I personally appreciate games that don't just let you win with crutches. When mastering this game, replaying it becomes incredibly fun as there are multiple solutions to almost every situation you can find yourself in.

Have you considered growing a ponytail and breeding lizards. I also think you should have sunglasses inside and please please more leather jackets. But not ones that fit make sure the jackets are wayyyy to big. That way when walking past schools people feel supppppper safe.
I couldn't get into it unfortunately. I really tried to but I guess it just wasn't for me. I actually preferred Voodoo Vince and Psychonauts.
