My opinion is we can average the stocks one which was strong, growth potential, UNDERVALUED and debt free stocks..defenetly if it is going low price also within no time it will reverse, unless it's an stock market crash like COVID situation or 2008 crash
If its a fundamentally strong company, we can average and check on the quarterly results and annual reports. If there is any issue in fundamentals we can exit from the company or else we can continue averaging the stock
If a stock is fundamentally strong, then if it is available at a fair price wouldn't you average it. For example HDFC Bank ?
