Love that Matt immediately addressed the 'debris'/ trash laying about. We all know where it came from. Why hadn't the customers picked that sh!t up while they waited?! 😔
@johnc.pepper5358 sure when you receive a $1200 tow bill after the recovery and tow. Not when you're able bodied and receiving a free recovery from MORR.
@@brianv5031why do you assume it’s free?
@@JonathanWaterbury it's on TH-cam that's why.
@@berniefudge4716 I bet it's not free, with wages to pay and that wrecker uses a ton of fuel. I doubt they just rely on youtube
@@brianv5031 Its generally not free, they try to edit around payment but every once in a while when including a comment or thankyou from a customer. you will see them digging in their wallet/purse or putting one away. I don't think they are trying to hide anything just keep the customers information confidential.
There is also a video where Matt talks about what he charges, its several years old now and he doesn't actually give prices just the pricing structure. They do recover abandoned vehicles for "free" to help clean up the area in coordination with law enforcement, but even then they can still pull a salvage title and get scrap value.
Matt, I just wanted to give you and your crew a huge thanks for rescuing us and our jeep! I was the guy driving. We made it back home with a trailer and insurance can cover it luckily
An XJ with roof damage should become a convertible. Add a roll cage and a soft top. That’s my plan if I come across one or I damage mine.
@@AnonymousAnonymous-xl7mf I have one if you need another project?

No top, unfortunately the previous owner rolled it slightly over and removed the doors, hood deck lid and fenders...they should have left the wrinkled body panels on.
Dude I sold your buddy those tires about a year ago. He said he drove down from Seattle to pick them up. Small world lol
@@lol123321123321 Wow talk about a small world looool
I wouldn’t count on that winch, ever.
Huge respect to the whole MORR crew. My son and I dropped by the shop to say hi and drop off some cookies last week. Everyone was very nice, especially Jake. The dogs are even cuter in person. And the wrecker is even bigger in person than it looks on screen. Thanks MORR crew for letting us drop in and take a little bit of your time. My son absolutely loved seeing the vehicles up close. I hope you enjoyed the cookies!

10:21 - MAN OF THE PEOPLE!! Stopping for selfies and high-fives like the GOAT
I really liked the apology to Eric. Good save.
same! I started watching BSF recovery before I ever discovered any other off-road recovery channel, I dont know if I would have ever made my way to Matts channel had it not been for them so I like that respect is being shown Eric is the OG but I also totally get the point of using that clip because it shows how that method does not work in this terrain. I am sure Eric would agree anyway and not be offended but still very nice to show that respect and love his way.
@@AsTheWheelsTurnthat the guy with the dually Chevy off-road wrecker?
@@skylermummert24 yes, that guy
@@AsTheWheelsTurn The sad part was I thought about how Eric destroyed the brace at the off-road games before he showed the clip if it happening.
Yeah, I’m in basically what he’s trying to say is the Midwest and East Coast forest and mud recovery is different from their rock recovery. Eric is a perfect example of that. There’s no shame in that because Eric does not do rock recovery. but like Matt has said in the past, every area of the US is different. The mud is different. The terrain is different.
I'm glad Matt told those guys to get all their trash picked up. He got the same impression that I got, which is that they were just going to leave it if he hadn't said something.
Im surprised they didn't clean it up while waiting...so I get the same impression "oh it'll disappear in the sand"...
Just inexperienced kids that have no clue how the world works.
They got a good lesson from Daddy Matt.
They did just roll their jeep several times, i would imagine they were a little shaken up and not thinking very clearly. That may have been just the reminder they needed. Its also why the tow company is legally responsible to make sure all the debris is cleaned up if they are called to the scene of an on road accident.
@@andrewr2650I was thinking the same thing. I am sure they were all pretty stressed out and not feeling the best.
I’ve been a big fan for over 3 years! I wish I could have gone to the Wrecker games but I was a victim of a shooter and am now crippled. I can’t walk over rocks or even sand. I wish I could meet you guys and go to the games but unfortunately I can’t do to a bullet hitting L2 and L3 leaving me paralyzed!
Your videos helped me so much in the hospital waking up from a coma and threw all the recovery process..
All the sleepless nights I always am excited to watch all the videos you guys put out.
You’re a big help to my recovery.
I did and still am doing 24/7 road side service here in Texas I did it 6 years before getting shot and still have to.
I wish I could go with you on a recovery. You guys help me so much and I appreciate it.
Sorry to hear about your experience, did you have a disgruntled customer?
I wonder if there is away to build you something that would help you to be able to go places like that ! Like maybe a ATV with tracks like the Bombi only smaller with possibly a motorcycle engine in it or even fix up a snowmobile for doing that ! I live in Kansas so not much sand here . I was stationed at Minot AFB in North Dakota and snowmobiling was loads of fun up there !
do you have a you tube channel
@@steveclark4291 I know a guy that has a powered wheel chair on tracks. The technology is out there
I love how Matt went from not even considering the winch as recovery tool to almost never not using it.
Right. Before Bleein Matt showed up with a Freedom Winch Line, MORR Matt grumbled every time he had to use the winch. I should probably say "both times". 😅
IYKYK right? Back in those original videos talking about how they can't use winches.
😂😂lol yeah it just shows his low IQ 😂 🤣
@@fprintf that is because they had to manually connect it everytime. and it was a hassle
I’d love to get some of our British built competition winches out there to let them experience. It would change their game forever!
Hey Matt. When I was on the Malibu mt. Search and Rescue. We would make a pad out old fire hose. Anytime we were rappeling /belaying over a cliff we laid that pad over the edge and let the rope slide over it to keep the dirt from grinding into our fibers. ( any fire department will have old canvass hoses they will give you)
The sling “works” for Eric in the Midwest because it is so loose (essentially wore out). It allows movement so as not to bind up in our terrain. Different equipment that works for different areas.
All that to get em out
I feel like a tire used as a buffer would work very well.
Remember, Eric also broke his sling during the wrecker games.
yep , the right tool for the job is different depending on the situation .
Also Eric recovers in off road parks not Utah trails, I don’t think he is ever more than 15 minutes from a parking lot or road.
🤣 "cause gravity will mess you up." So true!
After being out there in Sand Hollow for the games and seeing the rocks that are literally like sandpaper, I understand now what you mean Matt! Our rocks out here in the PNW are slicker than snot, especially when they're wet, so you've got to have different rigs for different terrain.
Lot of four wheelers underestimate the dangers of sand dunes. I've seen quite a few roll overs in the oddest of places, when you zig when you should have zagged.
Nice work MORR team.
Biggest thing with sand: speed doesn't kill. If at any time you run out of momentum, turn downhill before it comes to a stop (or at least face up hill). Never, ever, let it run out of momentum while side-hilling.
You should have seen me in the sand on a three wheeler :D
Yup, the tires dig in and momentum and gravity take over .... Nothing trumps the Laws of Physics
7:48 also I hope they were shown how their bumper is not ready to put that winch to use lol.
I agree I think it would’ve been very informational to see how the bumper was not properly attached considering it had a winch how dangerous for them
Yeah had this thing not crashed, using that flimsy winch setup in a real recovery might have sent the whole contraption into someone's window.
Glad to see that young fellow wasn't hurt in that roll over. It looked like it totaled out that Jeep. That second recovery could have been as bad as the jeep. Great video
👏👏👏Multiple round of applause for setting the record straight on buffalo vs bison. We don't have buffalo in this country.
Guy on a Buffalo is absolute LEGEND! I freakin' LOVE that guy! Matt, so much of what you talk about and reference speaks to me, we are of the same generation!
Editors... you guys are killin it. This video feels like it was shot with a huge camera crew. Great job all, 2m subs in sight!
Checking the front bumper's mounting to the frame is a good safety lesson for all of us.
Yup... I would have hooked up to the kid without checking if I'm honest
😆 you’re so right taking the shirt out of the bag has such a bigger impact. Who would’ve thought.
Love it, someone paid a good chunk of change for a “beefy bumper” and winch, then installed it on sheet metal that would rip right out the first time he TRIES to use the winch to pull himself out!
To say nothing about how this bumper offers zero protection!
It was installed incorrectly, he did not install the back bolts through the unibody
@@joshsanderson1568 ...because that part was harder...
I just got done a week ago installing a Rough Country winch mount on my 2013 F-350 diesel dually crew cab that weighs around 10,000 lbs loaded. It was a pain and I had to do some cutting on the brackets on the factory bumper and on the frame mounting bracket from the kit but I was able to get five 1/2” grade 8 bolts in each side. The kit was a bit of a challenge but I’ve had winch’s before and the more bolts the better.
Well, it doesn't look like they'll need to worry about the improper winch mount anymore (at least not that one).
Ouch 🤕
Thank goodness for the MORR team ❤
It's sad to see an old Cherokee totaled like that. Another one down. Awesome videos!
@5:18... Eric would agree though. He was one of the first to say the Sand Hollow terrain is way different that Wisconsin; and yes, his sling flipped up, because of that steep angle. @11:28... If you sit on a cactus, you'll find out who your friends are! (Like Jake did) 😉😉 @13:54... Matt does an unneccessary front dig! 😉😉 Then... @14:04... Matt does a totally neccessary front dig! 😁😁
As if I needed another reason to love this channel - you summon the guy on a buffalo.
Bonus points that it was a young lad, Kaulin who called it out.
Now I have to binge watch those videos again. It’s been a minute (as the kids say) 😂
I miss Lindsey. You rock Lindsey. I hope you are doing great out there wherever you are 😊

Thanks to all of you for the natural and good atmosphere you have. You are great and all the people who have been at work for some years know that most cases can be done in differnt ways with the same great results. Best Regards from Arne in Norway
What is Jake's origin story, how did he end up with your team? He has such a positive and delightful demeanor. And Katelynn too! They are a worthy addition to your "family". MOOR power to you!
.
Agreed! Jake is great. Love to see him on camera. You can tell he is just a great guy.
She does a better job after editing, notice that she only hooked up one end of the tow strap at 2:42
They mentioned a while back that Jake was hired for the Winder Towing (on road) side of the business. But I'd love to hear more about him.
My understanding is he was from the on-road towing team, came over once or twice for a video when people were out and was a big hit with the fan base. Since then with the personnel changes he’s slowly getting more screen time and it seems like he’s full time with the off road crew now.
Zion, one of the easiest words to tell whether someone is from Utah or not. That and Tooele. Always makes me laugh how easy it is to pick up on it.
Tooele is a dead giveaway if you ain't from here. Oh my heck. 😂

Matt’s been hangin around Rory too much! Unnecessary front dig, but still awesome! 👍🏻🤣
Thanks for the explanation of the no-sling. 👍🏼👍🏼
Loved the second location, so scenic.
I never wrote in about that, but I'd always wondered about it. Thanks for the explanation. Now I know. Happy towing.
0:29 Imagine how it must feel??? :) To manufacture a vehicle, assemble al the parts, and drive it around??
AND? To know it's better at its job, than any other vehicle, ever made??
That's Matt! .. Every day! :)
If a sling would work Rory would be using one.
I really appreciate how they never trash people. Says a lot about their character.
I laughed so hard when you asked a guy that just drove his car into a 6/8-foot hole "can you get on down okay?"
Love you guys.
Once again, your expertise on recovery is truly respected. What caught my attention was the scenic views on the way to the 2nd recovery wow......
Watching Matt turn the Morvair around reminded me of an incident when I was forced to thirty point turn around a rental car with a bad clutch on a dead end road overlooking a cliff above a remote river in Chile. Good times!
Man, that brings back a memory of a shitty Suzuki with burnt clutch, barely functioning brakes, ridiculously underpowered, almost out of gas - nearest gas station about 20 miles....using the shortcut off off a cliff face with a 20-turn hairpin. While turning, visible only sea left, front and right of the hood. Sea several hundreds of feet below. No time to be scared - but that was -as MORR casually says- 'sketchy'
@@RoaldvdM “Sketchy” was not a part of my vocabulary at the time but it does fit the situation.
Morning.. perfect timing for my lazy day in the UK. 😊 Sheeeep!!
Thank you Matt and crew for the adventures , seeing some amazing scenery and great recoveries !
good knowledge put to good use on both recoveries, great job everyone, thanks for sharing
Thanks I always wondered about a shock absorber.
Nice morning to drink coffee and watch a MORR video. It's a nice 75° here in Florida.
You forgot to add 90% humidity in Florida (versus ~20% near Zion)
Love Utah and Especially Zion, I along visited the area from Texas back in 2021 because of my interest from watching MORR and Fabrats ..
The calm you give to people is great.
I hate to see an XJ get torn up, but I can't believe that is a $25k rig. With all the widgets on it, maybe $10k.
I knew I wasn't alone in thinking that
These guys are the true MAD MAX
I love the amazing rugged landscapes on this channel.
I was just in Zion in April. Beautiful. I stopped at Matts and drove over to Paul's.
Hi Mr. Matt, Please consider getting a second off road wrecker built. You will need it as a backup when your current 1 is down.
How about an airplane when his flight gets canceled?
Thank you guys for taking us with you
Good morning from Idaho. Up at the cabin knocking down tall weeds and brush...getting ready for fire season.
"Just like we always do!" ~MATT 05:48 TEAM MORR is amazing at what they do!! Such a great group of people!! THANK YOU!!
What you could look into to stop the tow vehicle smashing into the wrecker is a fender system. When 2 boats come along side, the swell can cause a similar situation and fenders do a great job.
Yep and they're cheap and would be easy to attach to the lines. Or in between. Even an exercise ball would work. 😅😅
Or they could have just built the wrecker with a longer boom to start with.
Reading these is almost as much fun as the episode. "Drug Store Cowboys" never been on a horse.
@@iffykidmn8170 A longer boom would be more unstable than what Matt has ! The weight would further away from the wrecker which would pull down on the boom lifting the front of the wrecker ! The greater the weight being towed the more it will pull down on the boom !
@@steveclark4291 Strange the longer boom theory seems to work for Rory on trail mater, the leverage or moment arm of boom length may have been a design flaw of someone who did not think things out.
Thanks for telling those guys to pick their belongings up. Those kids should’ve had that trash picked up before you got there. New wheelers really need to understand how important it is to pack out what’s yours. I carry trash bags with my recovery gear for trash I find. Treating these places like landfills gets them closed.
Some beautiful scenery and a couple recoveries, thanks guys.
Great work by Jake! Always a hard worker and quick with a smile. Much appreciated.
The next upgrade the morrvare needs is rear steer. You guys have had to turn around on single lane trails too often to not have done it yet.
Someone got up early, thanks.
Very early. They're in mountain time
Early birds for the win 😤

I like the way she’s transitioned from rocks to sand.
The kid’s only 16 (I think) and she’s as keen as mustard to learn new stuff.
Too many viewers knock her ability, but it’s not fair on the girl, she’s got a lot to learn and she’s putting the time in.
Yeah, go Katelynn, you’ve got plenty of supporters on this channel.
❤️🇷🇴
You know I hate to say the "R" word on one of your videos but... Rory often uses a couple of short straps in a X configuration between Trail Mater and the vehicle he has picked up and is towing out. That scheme seems to work very well for controlling the swing and sway of the tow. You'd need to carry a couple of dedicated short straps on the wrecker, but I'll bet there's room for them somewhere.
Matt needs to go to rigging school taught by Rory. Rory is the godfather.
Matt sometimes does that also
@@ddracing2257 Yes! it may have helped if he had asked about boom length as well when building his wrecker as a longer boom would have helped hold the towed vehicle rearward.
Great work MORR. southern Utah certainly does have some unique and amazing scenery.
Watching this at work, makes the day go by faster
Once again, it's a Jeep thing. I wouldn't understand.
Congratulations. I was worried your driver in the broken xj would get broken glass in their eyes? Glad that didn't happen.
I noticed there's no flag on a whip mounted on the Wrecker. What's up with that? Is it already taller than most flags on most 4x4's there? Or perhaps installing a flag was something that was simply forgotten?
I sure LOVE watching you & your crew, listening to all the stories!
Thank you for that advice. Now I understand it much more.

Lekker man, lekker
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Don't worry about the glass fragments, KateLynn. Modern cars are fitted with safety glass that does not shatter into bits with sharp edges.
I feel bad for the owner, but unless you strap $15,000 to the roof, that is not quite a $25,000 mistake.
I'd say once you pay labor to swap their aftermarket parts to another chassis, replace broken aftermarket parts, and pay the recovery, the number is pretty close.
@@ImAfraidBruce If that ~25 year old has to pay labor to swap parts, the wuss should just get a Prius or ride the bus. Building and wheeling XJ's is not a game for the dainty types.

Good morning, from Washington State. Stopped by the shop. You guys just got back from a recovery with the Banana. Got to see you moving the potato into the shop. Bought a hat and a shirt. Looking forward to seeing what the recovery was. Thanks, for doing what you do.
And thanks Matt for pointing out the negatives of other gizmo methods to hook up recoveries and why just a good old fashion hanging is what works most/best where you are. I was one who asked about why not use a "blah-blah-blah". But that's why you are a tower and I'm a weldor.....😁👍
