When I went on my first shark dive without a cage I noticed that the grey nurse sharks kept swimming right over my head. It wasn't until we got out, that the instructor explained that sharks love the sensation of human hair on their stomach. So now I make a habit of wearing a bun rather than a ponytail in my daily life

Rescue divers have stories of people they're trying to save making things difficult for them. Not listening, fighting them, flailing around in panic, desperately trying to reach the surface and suffering from the bends because of it, etc.
@@BuetifullPersun There's literally hidden (not openly mentioned) tip for people who rescue drowning people that they can knock them out if they make too much commotion, nobody will care, as they can drown them both if not calm down and they may be hard to calm. I mean they are supposed to rescue them while KOed not just leave them.
I like to picture this guy just off-camera in all of these movies, calmly explaining the smart course of action while everyone ignores him and dies. I guess in this case, he'd be swimming behind them with a whiteboard or something.

As a rock climber, i just want to say how terrible that gear placement is that it can even hold 2 people , you are supposed to jam the nut into a crack, not gently place it on a rock
Literally what I was thinking. Like I get you need movie tension and all but still surely that could shown that there were 2 nuts or something because that was so stupid. Or maybe have the rock move or something more realistic like that.
This move is terrifying because it combines claustrophobia in caves (which by itself is my worst fear) and the fear of drowning whilst permanently stuck until you can find an exit which could takes hours or even days. I’m shivering with fear 😖
This man is so underrated. He is so well at explaining things. I can barely explain my dream to someone with constantly stuttering and pausing and going back and forth through the story.
i can only imagine the panic that alexa felt when she started to rip off all her gear, because i just know that she knew there was no way she would be able to swim up in time with the amount of air that she had. the horrifying thought that you just *know* you're going to drown.
yeah i know... i tried my best to brighten it up, but a lot of it takes place in dark tunnels, so most of it is just black. Kind of a weird creative decision

i saw this in theaters, as frustrating as it was because everyone makes stupid decisions, the shark scenes were SO cool. the one where they’re holding the red blinking light and the shark suddenly appears in the darkness was so good and scared the shit out of me 😩
great video but just something: when you said they should hold their breath so the bubbles dont rub up on the shark. i was told this is extremely dangerous to hold your breath while scuba diving and that the air will build up. again great video
As a diver, I can confirm that in fact the number one rule of scuba diving is to not hold your breath. This movie has awful logic anyway though so lol.
Would've been a good idea to activate the alarm thing and drop it to the bottom when they reached the cleaning so the sound would distract any potential sharks that were around or tailing them

@@vaporean_boylove.0w083 same here. Very wary of dark bodies of water. I lived in Hawaii for a while. And even that made me nervous. With clear blue water that you can see 40 to 60 ft ahead of you. One time a dolphin swam up to me. I saw it in the distance. And it scared the ba-jesus outta me when it got close. At first I thought it was a shark. Lol! They swim so fast, you'd have to see it to believe it.
For you knowledge, the first rule of diving is to never hold your breath and always stay breathing. Therefor your idea at 8:40 would be consider very dangerous.
As far as killer shark movies go, which pretty much always require suspension of disbelief by default, this _could_ have been one of the best ones. Ignoring the logistics of whether this species of shark could exist in this type of environment, it actually does suspense really well, and makes very good use of lighting and claustrophobia. The best part of the movie is when the first shark is revealed with the utmost subtlety - in a wide shot, you barely even see it pass by the main character off-center (it's mostly in darkness), as she's moving opposite of it with her back to it, and it doesn't make it's main appearance until a bit after this. Speaking of lighting, there is a very effective sequence after they are forced to go back underwater after Nicole's blunder, involving the distress signal thingy, which is legit scary. The CG is pretty serviceable most of the time (which is often not the case for shark movies), the locations and cinematography are pretty great, and the characters while a bit cardboard (there's a bullying subplot that didn't need to exist at all), are a hell of a lot more tolerable than most horror movies like this, once they get in the water. There are definitely some head-cocking moments of Shark Whac-A-Mole where they often seem to be inside a tunnel ready to pounce, but up until the protags finally get to the surface, it was shaping up to be pretty well-done, despite how fantastical the premise is. Unfortunately any remaining subtlety or tone-retention gets launched off a fucking cliff in the final sequence. The movie doesn't stick the landing at all, which pretty much ruins it. I would still recommend this over most other killer shark films, though. It makes _Deep Blue Sea,_ or _The Meg_ look like a pile of chum. (Yes I know that's not difficult, but we're speaking relatively, here.)
And this is why I plan on never doing something like scuba diving, skydiving, etc. Basically any activity that will put my life in danger. I can have fun without doing some dumb shit. Cave men stayed on land for a reason.
Scuba diving is actually amazing, the TV really doesn't do justice to actually BEING surrounded by so much surreal nature on something like a coral reef. Sharks don't give a F generally speaking. If you're new you'll be with instructors and they'll keep you safe
nicole is the type of friend you need to stay away from, taking risks all the time, and then when the shit hits the fan she only cares about herself, leaving the rest to die potentially
So, you have minimal scuba experience, next to no experience with cave diving, no guide with you, nobody knows where you are, you find random abandoned scuba gear, you know it’s a literal unexplored labyrinth and one of your group has no regard for her personal safety. Yeah, let’s explore the underwater tunnel network, what could possibly go wrong? 🤪
first thing that hits me about this movie is the caves and rooms are clear and clean of silt until plot drama needs to happen even though they were kicking in close proximity to the same floor and walls and objects that would have kicked it up from the start, even in narrow tunnels yeah the depths they were at, if the title is accurate, require a gas mixture because oxygen becomes toxic just above 57m, not just normal oxygen tanks and if you're that deep you definitely need to decompress on the way up.
To be fair, though, in scuba training they teach you to go to the surface no matter what if you and your buddy are both out of air. You have a chance of surviving the bends, no chance if you wait. They advise you to try to go slow, aka swim, don’t just drop your weights and inflate your BCD. So the girls actually weren’t doing anything crazy wrong in that instance. Cool video!! Thanks for all the research and effort that went into this! You were spot on with the cave diving stuff. It’s soooo dangerous, I’ve never done it and I never will.

I laughed my head off. This movie really is that dumb. Thank you for doing this. As a diver myself, some of the boneheaded things they do are beyond reason. You never go into a cave without a safety line. Even untrained divers know that. Second, you never, ever strip your equipment off to get through a small opening without holding onto your air supply. The film was indeed unintentionally hilarious for me.
Not to mention them trusting a random air pocket that could’ve been filled with toxic gases, and the movie hiring actors that seem to barely know how to swim lol
@@igm4437 Do it while you're young is my best advice. It's tough on the body physically - more than you realize - but wonderful. I wouldn't trade those 100+ dives I did for anything.

First, cave diving requires specific liscences, even if the girls had a SCUBA license, it would be extremely unsafe to cave dive. Regardless of if they were cave diving or not, they should've brought a guideline. This could've been life saving for them and they could've gotten out when all the silt was kicked up. 3:04 - Inhaling any air from the pockets of caves can be VERY dangerous, it can contain methane or nitrogen in the air 8:10 - laying on the ground and being quiet will NOT save you from a shark attack. Sharks have electroreceptors, which is a sensory organ that humans don't have, to help find prey. Electroreceptors can detect electrical signals in muscle contractions. I assume since the sharks lost their sense of sight, they might've gained increased sensitivity to these other senses in order to survive. Thus, these electroreceptors (even if not super-sensitive) could still be able to pick up on the girls underneath them (heartbeats, breathing, etc.) 12:20 - I don't understand how the weight of two 100-lb girls couldn't be supported? I mean, if its safe for one 200-lb man, why not two girls? 14:56 at around this point in the movie, both girls have around 5% of their air left. Between this point and the end of the movie (especially with heavy breathing, screaming, and fast swimming), these girls would have used up all of their air. 17:29 - further injuries from the shark attacks could've been avoided if the crew on the boat threw out a life preserver to the girls. Lastly, if they were really 47 meters down, they should've had some sort of decompression stops on the way up or done an emergency decompression; the bends is a more painful way to die than sharks TLDR I HATE THIS MOVIE I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT !!!!
Can we talk about how dumb Carl is? Blind sharks that only react to sound, and he decides to play music underwater as loud as possible? Furthermore, when the music cuts out, he just slowly investigates it, as if he has no idea what could possibly be the problem.
Their is no such thing as what is shown in the movie - Sound doesn't work like that and He would not be able to hear it. Plus the girls Do Not have anything on their Ears to hear with -- No Speakers -- No Ear Muffs - nothing. So How are they hearing anything ?? -- they cant.

47 meters down is bad…. But 47 meters down is probably the most graphic situation you could be in especially the scene before the final scene where they get pulled down. This movie is actually so much scarier than the first movie
This whole shark plot device is dumb af imo and really not needed. Being trapped in a pitch dark underwater cave is scary enough without any dumb "cave sharks". The movie would have been scarier without them imo. Great video tho man, love them! Keep up the great work!

Just wanted to say, most guns *are* lethal underwater. All modern firearms can fire underwater due to the bullets containing an oxidizer. They can also be shot in vacuums where oxygen is absent. The issue is range and accuracy. Unless it was specially tailored to be shot underwater (like the SPP-1) bullets only have a range of a couple of feet and are very inaccurate, though this would vary with caliber. I don't know what goes into the rounds for flare guns but if they don't fire underwater I assume they lack an oxidizer.
One time I was going to watch this but got to the part where they mention the air pockets would be their only source of oxygen in an emergency and stopped because it foreshadowed too much and I hate drowning, then the next day I had diarrhoea

i saw this in theaters, as frustrating as it was because everyone makes stupid decisions, the shark scenes were SO cool. the one where they’re holding the red blinking light and the shark suddenly appears in the darkness was so good and scared the shit out of me 😩
great video but just something: when you said they should hold their breath so the bubbles dont rub up on the shark. i was told this is extremely dangerous to hold your breath while scuba diving and that the air will build up. again great video
As a diver, I can confirm that in fact the number one rule of scuba diving is to not hold your breath. This movie has awful logic anyway though so lol.

Would've been a good idea to activate the alarm thing and drop it to the bottom when they reached the cleaning so the sound would distract any potential sharks that were around or tailing them

One time a dolphin swam up to me. I saw it in the distance. And it scared the ba-jesus outta me when it got close. At first I thought it was a shark. Lol!
They swim so fast, you'd have to see it to believe it.
The best way they could have survived this is was to just leave Nicole when she swam behind the rocks in that first room.
You only got one little thing wrong: you can NOT hold your breath while diving, especially if you're that deep. Good video!
For you knowledge, the first rule of diving is to never hold your breath and always stay breathing. Therefor your idea at 8:40 would be consider very dangerous.

This movie reminds me of the Thailand cave rescue with the soccer team from a few years back, minus the sharks. 🦈
As far as killer shark movies go, which pretty much always require suspension of disbelief by default, this _could_ have been one of the best ones. Ignoring the logistics of whether this species of shark could exist in this type of environment, it actually does suspense really well, and makes very good use of lighting and claustrophobia. The best part of the movie is when the first shark is revealed with the utmost subtlety - in a wide shot, you barely even see it pass by the main character off-center (it's mostly in darkness), as she's moving opposite of it with her back to it, and it doesn't make it's main appearance until a bit after this. Speaking of lighting, there is a very effective sequence after they are forced to go back underwater after Nicole's blunder, involving the distress signal thingy, which is legit scary. The CG is pretty serviceable most of the time (which is often not the case for shark movies), the locations and cinematography are pretty great, and the characters while a bit cardboard (there's a bullying subplot that didn't need to exist at all), are a hell of a lot more tolerable than most horror movies like this, once they get in the water.
There are definitely some head-cocking moments of Shark Whac-A-Mole where they often seem to be inside a tunnel ready to pounce, but up until the protags finally get to the surface, it was shaping up to be pretty well-done, despite how fantastical the premise is. Unfortunately any remaining subtlety or tone-retention gets launched off a fucking cliff in the final sequence. The movie doesn't stick the landing at all, which pretty much ruins it.
I would still recommend this over most other killer shark films, though. It makes _Deep Blue Sea,_ or _The Meg_ look like a pile of chum. (Yes I know that's not difficult, but we're speaking relatively, here.)
The fish screaming is my favorite part🤣 you evolve in a dark silent place, so naturally you can scream? Lmao.
And this is why I plan on never doing something like scuba diving, skydiving, etc. Basically any activity that will put my life in danger. I can have fun without doing some dumb shit. Cave men stayed on land for a reason.

Scuba diving is actually amazing, the TV really doesn't do justice to actually BEING surrounded by so much surreal nature on something like a coral reef. Sharks don't give a F generally speaking. If you're new you'll be with instructors and they'll keep you safe

first thing that hits me about this movie is the caves and rooms are clear and clean of silt until plot drama needs to happen even though they were kicking in close proximity to the same floor and walls and objects that would have kicked it up from the start, even in narrow tunnels
yeah the depths they were at, if the title is accurate, require a gas mixture because oxygen becomes toxic just above 57m, not just normal oxygen tanks and if you're that deep you definitely need to decompress on the way up.
Solution to this movie: have a good amount of common sense.
So in other words don't be Nicole

To be fair, though, in scuba training they teach you to go to the surface no matter what if you and your buddy are both out of air. You have a chance of surviving the bends, no chance if you wait. They advise you to try to go slow, aka swim, don’t just drop your weights and inflate your BCD. So the girls actually weren’t doing anything crazy wrong in that instance.

I laughed my head off. This movie really is that dumb. Thank you for doing this. As a diver myself, some of the boneheaded things they do are beyond reason. You never go into a cave without a safety line. Even untrained divers know that. Second, you never, ever strip your equipment off to get through a small opening without holding onto your air supply. The film was indeed unintentionally hilarious for me.
Not to mention them trusting a random air pocket that could’ve been filled with toxic gases, and the movie hiring actors that seem to barely know how to swim lol

People might not like this movie as much as the first one but I was definitely not expected to get spooked that much
First, cave diving requires specific liscences, even if the girls had a SCUBA license, it would be extremely unsafe to cave dive. Regardless of if they were cave diving or not, they should've brought a guideline. This could've been life saving for them and they could've gotten out when all the silt was kicked up.
3:04 - Inhaling any air from the pockets of caves can be VERY dangerous, it can contain methane or nitrogen in the air
8:10 - laying on the ground and being quiet will NOT save you from a shark attack. Sharks have electroreceptors, which is a sensory organ that humans don't have, to help find prey. Electroreceptors can detect electrical signals in muscle contractions. I assume since the sharks lost their sense of sight, they might've gained increased sensitivity to these other senses in order to survive. Thus, these electroreceptors (even if not super-sensitive) could still be able to pick up on the girls underneath them (heartbeats, breathing, etc.)
12:20 - I don't understand how the weight of two 100-lb girls couldn't be supported? I mean, if its safe for one 200-lb man, why not two girls?
14:56 at around this point in the movie, both girls have around 5% of their air left. Between this point and the end of the movie (especially with heavy breathing, screaming, and fast swimming), these girls would have used up all of their air.
17:29 - further injuries from the shark attacks could've been avoided if the crew on the boat threw out a life preserver to the girls.
Lastly, if they were really 47 meters down, they should've had some sort of decompression stops on the way up or done an emergency decompression; the bends is a more painful way to die than sharks

Can we talk about how dumb Carl is? Blind sharks that only react to sound, and he decides to play music underwater as loud as possible? Furthermore, when the music cuts out, he just slowly investigates it, as if he has no idea what could possibly be the problem.
Their is no such thing as what is shown in the movie - Sound doesn't work like that and He would not be able to hear it.
Plus the girls Do Not have anything on their Ears to hear with -- No Speakers -- No Ear Muffs - nothing.

47 meters down is bad…. But 47 meters down is probably the most graphic situation you could be in especially the scene before the final scene where they get pulled down. This movie is actually so much scarier than the first movie
This whole shark plot device is dumb af imo and really not needed. Being trapped in a pitch dark underwater cave is scary enough without any dumb "cave sharks".

Just wanted to say, most guns *are* lethal underwater. All modern firearms can fire underwater due to the bullets containing an oxidizer. They can also be shot in vacuums where oxygen is absent. The issue is range and accuracy. Unless it was specially tailored to be shot underwater (like the SPP-1) bullets only have a range of a couple of feet and are very inaccurate, though this would vary with caliber. I don't know what goes into the rounds for flare guns but if they don't fire underwater I assume they lack an oxidizer.
