I enjoy the folk aspect of Myrkur, but I’d love more tracks like this with the intensity of black metal. I don’t care what anyone says, this band is a breath of fresh air in the genre. Thanks for the mix of beauty and darkness.

People are mad because she claims to write the music, but it's the producers who do most of it, and if you saw her live you'd see that she has next to no clue how to even play guitar. This is a gimmick "band" of "hey look! a pretty girl doing sorta atmospheric black metal!" I enjoyed this song a lot and her last album was pretty good, but it's still just Relapse cashing in on a gimmick.

Epica itself is an amazing band too, it's symphonic metal with a little death metal on top, sometimes almost black metal sound too. Try their "Ascension - Dream State Armageddon" or "The Essence of Silence". Different style but still great fun.

Well, they still matter in order to tell people what kind of music you listen to. And so they can find it more easily if they end up liking what you end up showing them. That's ultimately why labels/names exist in the first place, not to put others down or something, but to make our lives easier.
I may be hated, but I believe Myrkur is the best thing happened in black metal scene so far. A genre should evolve and as long as ignorant thin minded traditionalist 90th black metal fans hate anything innovative, this genre would suffer and stomp on the same ground.

Combining Scnadinavian Folk und Black Metal was there since the 90's with Enslaved, Bathory (for example). And no, i'm not taking those bands on the same level as Myrkur! The only "new" thing with her Music is, that there is alot of Female cleaning voice (wich also happend before), thats it and thats the only reason IMO, why she is so extremly "hated" and "overly praised". Her Music is good, nothing more, nothing less.

Trust me, mate, it was never about being elitist. Too many metalheads listen to every kind of music, as long as it's authentic and genuine. You people just call anyone who doesn't like her "a BM Elitist", when to be perfectly frank many are just critical of her approach to the musical output and how she's just replicating/stealing from other bands and artists. She just doesn't sound authentic. And that's perfectly conceivable, especilaly if you watch her interviews. Wow, whatever is she doing with her music is beyond wonderful, she blended black metal with beautiful clean vocals, a celtic passage and it has this 'noise rock' vibe at some point. It reminded me some Enslaved at times, and Swans in another. She is amazing

I personally believe that you should highlight those beautiful clean-voice melodic parts and those organic folk sounds with traditional instruments over the actual black metal, since it's a good part of what make you so unique, that spirit of witchcraft that you can create. there is actually legit hipster black metal out there, have you heard all those bands that sound like midnight odyssey? yea....
despite who made this record the final product is good and that's what matters to me. its able to catch the ghost like feeling of dsbm without all the wrist slitting nonsense and having real musicians gives it much more power. How many people listen to drum machine black metal bands with sequencers that just run guitar loops, that's like techno pretending to be metal.

Incredible magical Music! Her vocals reminds me alot, especially Norwegian Black Metal bands used to use in their songs! Never will understand the criticism on Amalie, she does exactly what has been done before, and then everyone liked it! People should open their hearing more...
