MYRKUR (Amalie Bruun) returns with her highly anticipated new album, Spine! The new album is a tour-de-force, amalgamating some of the most exciting, innovative, and genre-defying moments from MYRKUR's catalog into something that is haunting, extreme, and brilliant as ever. Spine lays MYRKUR bare, at her most raw and unwavering, and is undoubtedly one of the year's most ambitious and cinematic albums. Spine relates to MYRKUR's personal mythology. Written during one of the most difficult times in Amalie Bruun's life - Spine is the direct result of her experiences following child birth. From the love and euphoria that comes with motherhood, to the fears of the unknown and the mysteries of the journey ahead, Spine is ultimately an album about seeking balance amidst chaos. To Bruun/MYRKUR, the record explores the very human nature of what it means to be a mother, and finds resonances with Scandinavian mythology to do so. Recorded with Randall Dunn at the Sundlaughin Studio in Iceland (Sigur Rós) - the ebbs and flows in Spine reflect the width and breadth of MYRKUR's emotion. These sonic shifts are represented in music that sees MYRKUR touch upon an array of influences - from undeniable metal as heard on the inimitable "Valkyriernes Sang", to darker sonic territories inspired by folk and haunting vocal passages on "Like Humans''. Elsewhere, the brooding "Mothlike" showcases a new side of MYRKUR's sensibilities, with touches of electronic underpinnings and lush synth orchestrations. Spine's title track proves to be one of the most moving songs of the year, as it transcends through moments of affable, delicate vocal, percussive, and string arrangements to a massive chorus that serves as a thesis statement for the rest of the album. MYRKUR's euphoric outlook is in full display here, as the song proclaims, "My body made your spine / You and I intertwine / You made me human / Stay with me / You will be / The one I love the most". With Spine, MYRKUR unravels the next chapter in the personal mythology of Amalie Bruun, and sets a new course for the enigmatic band. credits
I never thought I would hear someone combine pop music and black metal and make it not suck. this is like Bananarama meets Black Metal and it's fucking awesome
Nice song and visuals. I'm a new fan as of now... I can't wait to see and hear MYRKUR joining King Diamond on stage this December. It will be brilliant!
I love these new singles, really enjoy the pop/metal blend because it works so well and from the singles sounds unique and very much Myrkur. Looking forward to the new album very much!
"Mothlike" The night falls I watch you sleep The dust from the ceiling falls And my hands are warm The mothlike creatures I wish I had their wings In the dead of night I feel I can't close my eyes It's clear If I stay awake He will stay alive Like a rattlesnake Sound is my bite Faith is what you make of it I thought I told you not to step outside You stay in line Your freedom is how you pay for it Just cover your face and stay in line Faith is what you make of it I thought I told you not to step outside You stay in line Your freedom is how you pay for it Just cover your face and stay in line
Myrkur is such an eclectic artist. At first it took me awhile to get into this song but once I did I realised how great and unique it is. Black metal meets new wave meets a neo classical metal solo. Amazing
It's not black metal at all. It's pop. She's always been pop. She did a bastardized version of black metal just to get noticed and then became lame pop.
@@James-if3kc And Relapse marketed her debut as "MYRKUR has created a wholly unique perspective on the genre" which was total bullshit. Only stolen Ulver riffs and female vocals and that is called the "new perspective" 😂😂
This really shows how badass of an artist you are. No genre scares you and it is beautifully combined. Liked Folkesange a bit better, but this is nice too!
moth goes into a podiatrist’s office, and the podiatrist’s office says, “What seems to be the problem, moth?” The moth says “What’s the problem? Where do I begin, man? I go to work for Gregory Illinivich, and all day long I work. Honestly doc, I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore. I don’t even know if Gregory Illinivich knows. He only knows that he has power over me, and that seems to bring him happiness. But I don’t know, I wake up in a malaise, and I walk here and there… at night I…I sometimes wake up and I turn to some old lady in my bed that’s on my arm. A lady that I once loved, doc. I don’t know where to turn to. My youngest, Alexendria, she fell in the…in the cold of last year. The cold took her down, as it did many of us. And my other boy, and this is the hardest pill to swallow, doc. My other boy, Gregarro Ivinalititavitch… I no longer love him. As much as it pains me to say, when I look in his eyes, all I see is the same cowardice that I… that I catch when I take a glimpse of my own face in the mirror. If only I wasn’t such a coward, then perhaps…perhaps I could bring myself to reach over to that cocked and loaded gun that lays on the bedside behind me and end this hellish facade once and for all…Doc, sometimes I feel like a spider, even though I’m a moth, just barely hanging on to my web with an everlasting fire underneath me. I’m not feeling good. And so the doctor says, “Moth, man, you’re troubled. But you should be seeing a psychiatrist. Why on earth did you come here?” And the moth says, “‘Cause the light was on.
Amazing 🤩… I just found out my mother was 90 percent Swedish. I’ve been all over Europe but now I think I need to make a trip to Scandinavia and Finland ❤️
I sleptless for days and days... Living at 24/5 gym I would sit in. Dark side pavilion space... And sit in an inactive Massage chair... As the around me vibrated... And my eyes shifted from the left to the other side and back again in a blaze.... And the line spoken.... Gave me the strength to Cough.. and give me heart a diphibulation.... And my lungs became completely voluntary... And my mind has never wondered sense... 💋 myrkur ❤️ -G

... and as she was talking about death threats, I have come to the conclusion from the comments , blackmetal purists don't understand music ať all. Stop commenting her music. You embarrase your self. Her music is far more darker than you can even imagine... Great job, Myrkur💪
Not what I was expecting (which is a good thing sometimes) but also not what I was hoping for. I'll give the full album a listen before I judge though!

I'm glad I never read this before I listened. You might've got my hopes up 😅 you heard black metal in this? Stop lying.
@@Aenigmakil In 2:20 there are like 4 seconds of scream in the background that almost sound like a black metal singer who is displeased with this.
Couldn't find any black metal here...
Why are people in the comments labelling this as black metal? She hasn't made black metal in years and has drifted more towards folk music.

"Mothlike"
The night falls
I watch you sleep
The dust from the ceiling falls
And my hands are warm
The mothlike creatures
I wish I had their wings
In the dead of night
I feel
I can't close my eyes
It's clear
If I stay awake
He will stay alive
Like a rattlesnake
Sound is my bite
Faith is what you make of it
I thought I told you not to step outside
You stay in line
Your freedom is how you pay for it
Just cover your face and stay in line
Faith is what you make of it
I thought I told you not to step outside
You stay in line
Your freedom is how you pay for it
Just cover your face and stay in line
Feels like my wife describing her nightly vigil over our baby son, listening for the smallest sound
Impressive music proposal! I love this song! The whole album is amazing!
The growling is back!
Reminds me a lot of Bjork, and I'm fine with that. Myrkur continues to evolve, and I'm excited for whatever happens.
Bjork, Madonna, Kate Bush. Very interesting to both watch and listen.
Amalie Bruun could never even hope to be on the same level as any of them.@@CazHbokbok
Not at all what I expected and I love that. The blending of different genres is phenomenal.

Fantastisk musik!
Vilken kvinna!
Vilken röst!
Älskar Danmark...
Hallå från Sverige❤
she’s entering her wise crone era i love it
I love this 80's Dream-Pop direction! Fits her style perfectly.
I'm a sucker for harmonized guitar solos, so that lead break near the end of the song brought things to the next level as far as I'm concerned.
Great song and video! Absolutely loved some Bjork vibes in the beginning, and, oh, this blastbeats🔥
1980s style synthpop meets black metal with female vocals.... WOW!!!🤘🏻🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻
Not Black metal. Only raspy voices
Black metal?lol .Liv Kristine and Theatre of tragedy made shit like that 20years ago
Yeah, black metal.. I don't hear it. Maybe a hint in the middle but that's it.
There's no any trace of synthpop or black metal. Stay your feet on the ground.
This really shows how badass of an artist you are. No genre scares you and it is beautifully combined. Liked Folkesange a bit better, but this is nice too!
It's just pop music, you sheep.
This is a song to play on repeat... Bravo Myrkur
I swear to God I read "Marduk", and almost shat a ton of bricks when the music started playing... Hahahahaha
