  • 25 Steps is the story of two WWII POWs that shared the same barracks in the Stalag Luft I camp in Northern Germany, who meet for the first time 72 years later at a senior living facility in Denver, CO. An incredible story of survival, resilience, and serendipity. 2019 winner in the Best Short Documentary Category at the Glendale International Film Festival.
Produced and directed by award winning filmmaker Steffan Tubbs, a longtime advocate for veterans, 25 Steps, his fourth documentary, was mere happenstance although directly connected to his third film, titled Acronym: The Cross-Generational Battle With PTSD.
"One of the World War II vets in Acronym was Bob McAdam, who's 97 years old and sharp as a tack," Tubbs says. "I kept in touch with him after the film, and in late 2016 or early 2017, he gave me a call and said, 'You'll never believe who I just met. ... I just met someone who was at Stalag Luft I,'" the prison camp in Barth, Germany where he was held captive in 1944 and 1945.
"I've never had a narrator on any of my films before," Tubbs says, "and through God's blessing, I was able to get Peter Coyote, who is a legendary voice actor - Ken Burns's go-to guy for all of his documentary work. To have Peter bring the gravitas he brings was incredible."
To honor our great veterans, Mountain Time Media is proud to present 25 Steps, a story of two heroes from a lost generation that sacrificed everything for our country and asked for nothing in return, other than to come home safely to their families.

On behalf of Mountain Time Media, we are saddened by the loss yesterday of our WWII POW hero, Bob McAdam, at 101 years of age. We have been extremely fortunate and blessed to spend much more time with Bob since the release of 25 Steps on June 6, 2018, and are forever grateful to him. If you would like to honor him and his service as well, please send the link to 25 Steps to anyone you know. Thank you for your support.

I am extremely grateful for your sharing this story and production. The fact remains that service members like these two risked everything to stop tyranny and give the world another chance to remain free, while knowing that they risked the ultimate sacrifice at any moment. The irony of one being shot down on his first mission and the other on his 70th can't be ignored. That they are reunited in life after so much time is fantastic. The world could use more men like these two. Thank you again.
