    I have this same splitter. Have had it over a year now. Have split up some where around 5 to 6 chords of hardwood so far. I did add the catcher, great addition. Highly recommend this splitter. It is a beast, runs great for me.

      I too recommend this splitter. Have you ever tried the 4-Way Wedge for 25T Log Splitter? Its a slide on attachment so I could see some application for it but the reviews are hit or miss. The horizontal blades don't seem significant enough to split all the way through. Debating on giving it a try.

      I saw another video with the same splitter and the guy put a second catcher on directly over the engine to protect it in case a large log fell off. Might not be a bad idea.

    Thanks for sharing that. I bought the 32 ton county line splitter, which is just manageable for me to move by myself. It came with the log rack, but I only split in the vertical position. I have a hard time understanding why others cut in the horizontal, as it is very easy, with no lifting, to split vertically: i just roll big logs into place, split, set one half aside, and resplit smaller, to desired size. I've split 20" -24" wide west oak rounds easily, weighing close to one hundred pounds. I just sit on a round directly in front of the ram, as any splitting force would occasionally send splits flying sideways, but not towards me. Easy on the back, and I do have a double herniated disk. I learned from another TH-camr to split in half, then put the first edge toward the track and split off a 2" wedge.... Then I can split two or three 2"x4" or 4"x4" rectangular logs as I work to the other side. I'll test these this winter, but I think they will stack easier in the stove being squared off, and burn better, having more mass than a pie shaped piece. You motivated me to check my wood stack and see how my splits are drying. When I split the oak on 5/5/24 the logs are at 28% moisture. I just split a 3"x5" piece and it's down to 18% on July 6, just 2 months later. I have the splits stacked in a single row on several simple elevated racks I built, having seen them also saw on TH-cam. They are in my backyard and exposed to full sun and wind all summer. I move some to my covered wood shed closer to the house for winter, and cover the rest with weighted tarps when the rainy season comes. I don't worry about summer rains. It's great to have a nice log splitter.

    I have the exact splitter and I also had a bad valve. Now mind you I bought the unit used but after supplying the 800 phone with the model and serial number they sent me a new valve which was pretty easy to install. I’m very satisfied with the machine.

      Thanks for the comment, I was really surprised that I could speak to someone immediately. she even called in one of the techs to listen to the issue and confirm a bad valve!

    I bought the Runnings Country Pro version of that for $999.
    I’ve since upgraded the pump to control valve hose from 1/2” to 3/4” and will be drilling out the working ports here in September after I get home from trucking.
    I’ve got videos on my channel In my Dawgwood folder of what I’ve found so far.

    Trash the drop leg stand and add a common top-wind trailer jack for much easier leveling and hook up to an ATV or truck or lawn tractor for towing. The extra expense is well worth it. I have the 30 and use it vertically for the big stuff. Use a dump cart to toss wood into and haul to storage using my riding mower to tow it with. Work smarter, not harder.

    • @sizemok1
      @sizemok1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Added the Winder trailer jack with wheel right after I bought it. Works GREAT !

    • @pipedreams57
      @pipedreams57 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep and would probably be cheaper for the manufactures to add than the factory drop leg piece of crap. @@sizemok1

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This would be a pretty good Idea! Do you have a picture of yours with the trailer jack? The leg is not great unless you are just free standing the splitter. The hitch on the ATV is really low so it is a pain to drop the leg, slide the splitter under the ATV and hitch the ball. I do use a lawn card for the trash, when I am splitting horizontally I can actually slide the cart under the splitter and catch most of the debris. Makes the process a lot smoother. Work Smarter Not Harder is the only way to play when dealing with firewood. The less you can touch it, the better it is.

    I put two racks welded together which allows more wood on deck but more importantly it protects motor from big round getting away and falling on motor. Also put a third rack over the hydraulic filter. A big half could fall and shear off the filter and maybe even ruin the tank. I bought the optional 4 way wedge but side wedges were only 2" or so. I cut them off and welded on 5" wedges. Really saves time when splitting.

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the information! I was skeptical regarding the 2" side wedges on the removable 4 way wedge attachment. Seems like it would only get you part of the way there, creating more work.

    Prices haven’t actually gone up the value of the dollar is going down and will continue to fall much further,if you need something better get it now. I’ve always used my splitter in the upright position,it’s much easier to get big blocks into position and I can sit while I split. The bolts that hold the handle that engages the wedge will loosen over time,save the grief and put some locktite on them now. Also pick up a couple of hydraulic filters they will clog up eventually,hard for me to estimate a timeframe but I split a lot of wood.

      I am glad I got this when I did. Although the video is newer, the original part of the video is a bit dated but I love the splitter. Not sure that I would drop $1700 on one today but thats the world we live in.

  • @crxess
    @crxess 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I would suggest replacing those bolts with higher grade Bolts and larger diameter washers.
    Trust me, a heavy round can bend those bolts - I know, I've done it.
    Also, anyone told the Catchers will not fit their Huskee Splitter .................... is being lied to. The Bolt pattern is 11"(?) on center, the same as the county line and other Speeco built splitters.

    These are $1300 here in Nebraska right now (3-24). My local TSC has them on sale for $999, I may run in tomorrow and pick one up, I don't think they'll get much cheaper.
    The Country Line log rack thingy is $69.
    Seem to be much better built than the Yardmax 25 ton units for the same $$

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would like to have a small rack, maybe half the depth on the side I stand on. Gives you an extra place to stage a piece and catches them from falling on your foot. The Oil filter and hoses are vulnerable on the side I stand on.

    The wing nut the holds the air cleaner down acts like a "cup" that catches rain. The water then runs down the threaded rod that leads right into the carb inlet. Leave it outside a few times and you'll find water in the carb.

    The logs you put on the shelf have already been split

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you are burning in. Those splits are perfect for heating with a boiler or a large stove. I have a very small wood insert in the basement and burn a lot while camping. For camping I like to have smaller splits to burn hot and fast, especially toward the end of the night. I sell a lot of bundle firewood and home delivery, most people like smaller splits than what I started with.

    How about posting that shelf over the oil filter To protect it from being broken off

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a direct bolt on for this splitter. I don't disagree with adding protection for the oil filter or the engineer for that matter. I feel they could design something that can be removed easily when performing maintenance.

      @@JuniperAcresFirewood Yes indeed. It's a very good splitter. I purchased one for right at $1,000. A few years ago. Now it's increased by 50% !!! The exact same splitter that was most likely in manufactured years ago before the inflation skyrocketed. While it's a good splitter, I would have to shop around and re-evaluate other splitters based on the County Line's current price.

    I wish I had not bought my Countyline 25-ton splitter, but it's too late now and I guess I'm stuck with it. I HATE the design of the beam that the wedge slides on. My old splitter (a 40-year-old Yard Machine) had a beam with a simple flat surface, easy to wipe off and keep clean. The new Countyline has a (whatever you call it) groove that the wedge rides in -- a perfect trap to catch wood chips and splinters that needss constant cleaning (I finally had to set up my air compressor next to it so as to blow everything clean several times a work session.) Today I actually got a fat wood chip crammed in beside the wedge and had to get my pry bar to free it. Stupid stupid design.

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood

    This upgrade looks like all you do is have to move the wood one more time. The whole object as to not have to move the wood by hand as much.
    This is just another step how stupid

    • @JuniperAcresFirewood
      @JuniperAcresFirewood  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure how you mean. The holds in place the larger rounds once split so that they don't fall off the splitter while you are splitting down the first half. It also allows you to load the shelf with multiple smaller logs so that you can keep a working pile on the splitter. Maybe you have not split enough wood to understand the benefit but it is far superior to no rack at all. I appreciate the feedback and you spending some time watching the video!
