Can the Foxwell NT630 Plus Acces WJ Jeep ABS Codes and Functions? - Answering a commenters question

  • We had a commenter in a prior video ask if the Foxwell scan tool that appeared in the video was capable of accessing the WJ's ABS module. I actually hadn't used this specific scantool for that on a WJ, but had used it on a few other makes and models. So I figured the only way to properly answer was to give it a try - and yes, it seems to be capable of it, at least on our 2004 WJ.
Note that the WJ does have two different brake caliper setups, the earlier Tevis ones, and the later Akebono calipers like on this 2004 WJ. I don't think the ABS systems behind them changed much, so this should work on all, but this video only shows a test on 2004 WJ.
Finally, this is an older model NT630 Plus from Foxwell, it appears they have done some updates to it, but I'd assume it would still work as this one does, or very close to it.
Also, this isn't a sponsorship, paid promotion, or endorsement for Foxwell. I bought this scanner with my own money years back, and am simply sharing if it can access the WJ's ABS modules.
    WJ DIAG - possible alternative?
There is an Android app called WJ Diag - the paid version is around $25 in the play store. Paired with a $10 bluetooth OBD2 module, I believe it can read ABS module data as well.
WJ Diag was built for 2.7 CRD diesels, and thus cannot read PCM/TCM data off inline-6 or v8 WJs, however it apparently CAN read other modules on all WJ's.
See this thread for more data - perhaps this is a cheaper option to accessing WJ data, especially if you already have the bluetooth OBD2 dongle...

@Dean tha Don i ended up getting the autel maxicom mk808s. But had a abs ecu connection error. Turns out the solders in my abs ecu had cracked. Was easy enough to open the ecu and resolder and worked no problems.

Can you do a video on bleeding the ABS module on a 99-04 Jeep Grand cherokee "WJ" please.
I have to replace my lines and this will help a bunch. I like FOXWELL and would definitely pick this up.
Just not sure how you bleed the ABS

Hey, I was just wondering if you'd tried this on an XJ at all, specifically the late 1996 (first OBD2 models)?

Diagnostic systems are always finicky, especially on older vehicles where OBD-II was somewhat new.
