The black people cant swim thing is because a lot of slaves were prevented from learning to stop them from escaping, and then a lot of public swimming pools were heavily segregated.
Not just segregated, but some pools would get filled in overnight with concrete or black families would be attacked when they were finally desegregated
Also nowadays it's difficult to get access to pools when you're living in a city, especially if you're poor, and black people are disproportionately poor and live in cities.
"Black people can't swim!" This is very old school racism circa mid-20th century. The reason for the stereotype is actually based in more IRL racism. In the old days, swimming was segregated and public swimming pools ALSO weren't built in black neighborhoods. This means black ppl had fewer opportunities to learn, and the stereotype that came out of it was black ppl being unable to swim at all. I'm a TF2 player, with enough hours to put a lot to shame, and ik for a damn fact that now there are two truths: cheaters suck at the game, and they're always xenophobic. how do ik they suck? all the "good" cheaters (with strong easily detectable hax) got banned, and now all cheaters in the game you see are script kiddies with no game sense, to the point that I can dominate them, taunt them and make them rage quit. ofc, I am not always in form, but it's always funny to see a player on the enemy team who was destroying everyone's fun get mad over a guy, who spent a lil bit too much time in an old game, absolutely wrecking his shit. also, cheaters are so easy to detect that I can tell whenever one is cheating or cracked at the game within first 2 minutes of me joining the match, and when they're on my team it's so easy to just get rid of them (then the "thank you" messages start going to chat from the opposite team, despite me not even seeing the "x is bot" or "x is cheating" comments).

@@argumentator08 yeha apparently in 1.4.5 they're removing the lock on male/female styles and letting you choose whichever you like. (which a lot of other games/studios are also doing and have been doing for years) they're also adding more voice customization. (also pretty customary nowadays) there is no effect on gameplay. none of the content is being removed; you can still play as the same characters. there are now just more options, and the ~64 pixels defining your characters' outfits no longer determine what they sound like or which armor variant they use. things are only being added, but transphobes are still whining. lmfao. oh, also the gender change potion exists. that's pretty ancient at this point. also i'm pretty sure you can change your character's hair and clothes whenever with a stylist and a wardrobe. i have no idea why this is suddenly a disaster. (it isn't :3)

@@maple_syrup_ largely thats not a thing that happens. being transgender involves speakinng to a lot of educated professionals with your best interests in mind, including if you are actually not transgender recommending not transitioning. additionally being transgender is incredibly difficult and im sure theres not a lot of parents who want to make their childrens lives harder. what is actually fairly common is a child or teen who is transgender getting refused any form of help because their parents do not want them to transition.

Honestly thank you for this. It's nice to see SMP players standing up against the toxicity that's so prolific. This is a much more minor example, but I left an SMP I'd been playing on for years, had friends on etc. because their mods allowed the free use of "r*tard" arguing that it didn't count as a slur and I couldn't stand that. I feel a lot more validated in that decision now.

Also the touch of having undertake music during the end fight was an amazing choice! Having the music be from a game that shows how your choices affect the ones around you while fighting two people who had shown themselves to hold some “less than tasteful” beliefs (to put it lightly) was either a great coincidence or a masterful editing choice!

This'll get lost in the ocean of comments, but there's always a slight sigh I can let out when I see other people talk about transphobia, especially cis people. I live in a pretty shitty spot to be trans in, so I tend to be pretty scared of the people around me, probably more than I need to be. So seeing and hearing other people talk about transphobia just really reminds me that a vast majority of people don't perceive my existence as a threat or a bad thing. I'm a TF2 player, with enough hours to put a lot to shame, and ik for a damn fact that now there are two truths: cheaters suck at the game, and they're always xenophobic. how do ik they suck? all the "good" cheaters (with strong easily detectable hax) got banned, and now all cheaters in the game you see are script kiddies with no game sense, to the point that I can dominate them, taunt them and make them rage quit. ofc, I am not always in form, but it's always funny to see a player on the enemy team who was destroying everyone's fun get mad over a guy, who spent a lil bit too much time in an old game, absolutely wrecking his shit.
also, cheaters are so easy to detect that I can tell whenever one is cheating or cracked at the game within first 2 minutes of me joining the match, and when they're on my team it's so easy to just get rid of them (then the "thank you" messages start going to chat from the opposite team, despite me not even seeing the "x is bot" or "x is cheating" comments).

yeha apparently in 1.4.5 they're removing the lock on male/female styles and letting you choose whichever you like. (which a lot of other games/studios are also doing and have been doing for years) they're also adding more voice customization. (also pretty customary nowadays)
there is no effect on gameplay. none of the content is being removed; you can still play as the same characters. there are now just more options, and the ~64 pixels defining your characters' outfits no longer determine what they sound like or which armor variant they use. things are only being added, but transphobes are still whining. lmfao.
oh, also the gender change potion exists. that's pretty ancient at this point. also i'm pretty sure you can change your character's hair and clothes whenever with a stylist and a wardrobe. i have no idea why this is suddenly a disaster. (it isn't :3)

@@maple_syrup_ largely thats not a thing that happens. being transgender involves speakinng to a lot of educated professionals with your best interests in mind, including if you are actually not transgender recommending not transitioning. additionally being transgender is incredibly difficult and im sure theres not a lot of parents who want to make their childrens lives harder. what is actually fairly common is a child or teen who is transgender getting refused any form of help because their parents do not want them to transition.
@maple_syrup_ its bc some people just want to get mad at random things and put people down bc it makes them feel good. there are also people who have religious beliefs mainly against lgbt which is still not a reason to be transphobic or racist. basically its just some assholes who like to put people down to make themselves happy

Honestly thank you for this. It's nice to see SMP players standing up against the toxicity that's so prolific. This is a much more minor example, but I left an SMP I'd been playing on for years, had friends on etc. because their mods allowed the free use of "r*tard" arguing that it didn't count as a slur and I couldn't stand that. I feel a lot more validated in that decision now.
As a part of the lgbt+ community I would like to thank y'all for y'all's service. This'll get lost in the ocean of comments, but there's always a slight sigh I can let out when I see other people talk about transphobia, especially cis people. I live in a pretty shitty spot to be trans in, so I tend to be pretty scared of the people around me, probably more than I need to be. So seeing and hearing other people talk about transphobia just really reminds me that a vast majority of people don't perceive my existence as a threat or a bad thing. I feel like I'm allowed to feel normal. So, as dumb as it is, thank you.
