many countries where there in no mandatory military recruitments, have such schemes. This is a direct result of exploding pension bill of the military in India as a percentage of defense budget every year and a part of the government budget.

Agniveer & Regular army 🪖 are treated differently and that makes it discrimination. Both dying in the line of duty meet different treatments when the circumstances are identical, why? The discrimination is there in Civil services also if we have been performing the same duties a LC or UDC in Central govt. and his counterpart is the State gets paid differently, Why?
Why go as far as Agniveer and regular army soldier. When a CI operation takes place in J &K, you have RR from the army, the CRPF and the J &K police in a joint operation facing the terrorists and the bullets from a terrorist's weapon dont discriminate on who it hits but isn't the compensation to the deceased braveheart different depending on the organization they are from. See all these organizations are hierarchial and therefore there will be different levels of compensation depending on organization, rank etc. I think one must look at the agniveer scheme in a similar manner, it is a different scheme with different conditions, it is not forced on a person but once they join the scheme both that person and their family members must accept it knowing its merits and risks. Now I am not saying that the scheme is perfect, it needs to be tweaked but why think of scraping it.

Agniveer means cheap bonded soldiers who gets trained from a a third party for 6 months only but Chinese and Japanese army gets trained directly for 4 -6 years.
Well all these retired people need to take well deserved rest at home. People taking the decision now are not novoices either, they are as competent as these folks were during their prime.. One thing as we age is that we forget things change over period of time, weapons, engagements, trainings everything changes. What once took several months to master may not take that long or some skill that was a must is no longer required due to other changes. Trust the system, some tweaks are always part and parcel of any scheme.

*What is the difference between the INTERN SCHEME proposed by Raul Ghandi during the 2024 election campaign in which he said the INDI alliance would start a scheme which will require companies to hire 10 lakh interns every year and pay them Rs one Lakh per year for 12 months. However there would not be any compulsion for the companies to hire all of those trained interns as their regular employee after the completion of the 12 month internship. Company may hire 5 to10% of them so this would have resulted in a scheme worse than Agniveer if you compare the unemployment features and status of employment in both but hire numbers on road in Raul scheme. Shame on Khangrace for such double standards and hypocracy*

No. Because people have a feeling that it's a class lesser than a normal defence entry!!
