How I Sewed my Basic Cami Top with Layered Detail

  • Hi folks
    In todays video I am showing how I made the cami top I mentioned in my July plans. I added a layered piece to give some interest to the basic design and I love how it turned out. I also tried out rolled hems, sewn on the overlocker, for the first time and they turned out super nice. This one, just like my last make is super quick and easy to make, takes very little fabric and is perfect to wear in beautiful hot weather, love it💕💕💕
    Theres only one note I would add, if you’re going to give a cami a go yourself, is to stay stitch the neckline as I’ve made another version in a viscose fabric and the neckline stretched a little 😧😍…..
    Anyway I hope you enjoy
    Susanne ❤️

    Fabric - Poly Koshibo - I hadn't heard of this fabric before, it feels and looks like lightweight crepe. I'll try to give a bit of an update on how the fabric wears and washes once I've tested it out a bit more.

    Love this cami Suzanne! It's just like the now famous Ogden Cami :) and it would be super easy to adjust the Odgen to be layered like this one. The Ogden has a facing front and back. Beautiful! • @SewCustom
      @SewCustom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jan Spenno thanks so much 💕👍💕 I know exactly what you mean about trying not to swear😍 For these straps I double threaded a standard sewing needle with strong thread, knotted the thread, popped my needle into the fabric at one end, then used the needle (like you would a safety pin when inserting elastic) to thread through the channel. I used a similar method when pulling through my ties for my wrap dress, the only difference is I used the overlock thread👍👍👍 I hope this helps👍🍀👍

    • @SewCustom
      @SewCustom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you 💕👍💕 the curve won't allow you to sew the entire way up the "peak" I have just sewn as far up as I can and then a good press, this does the trick nicely for me👍👍👍

    Hi Suzanne. What a lovely top. I have two questions though. Did you sew the back strap seam last because you checked the fit first? And did you make the top layer wider than the bottom layer at the side seams? So it doesn't end up to tight? I am very inspired to try myself! !!! Jayne

    • @SewCustom
      @SewCustom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jayne Burdeshaw thanks so much 💕👍💕 I popped the back strap in last so I could make sure it wouldn't be twisted (I had checked the fit on my toiles). When I made the toiles for this pattern I sewed the neckline and the straps all in one and ended up twisting one of the straps..😩 On my first toile I added 3mm to the outer layer at the side seams, in my second toile I forgot to add it and to me it looked and felt the same on so on this one I didn't add it, I suspect it depends on the weight of the fabric, mine was super lightweight 👍 I hope this helps and good luck with yours🍀🍀🍀
