    Biscuits do add strength.

    Sash mortis chisels, expensive and sleek dividers, and maybe long pairing chisels or a fishtail chisel. Can’t think of much else but we are always looking at more tools. Thank you for sharing your cabinet!
    Like others posted, I’d just add a third hinge to each door. If you can find a matching set that’s an easy win.

    It looks really great! I like the baby blue colour on the inside. I think you might want to upgrade the hinges before you load the doors with tools. Those hinges are great for cupboards but if you are loading the doors with expensive tools the thought of a hing failing pains my heart if your hand tools take a beating on the way down. I would use hinges rated for twice the weight that you expect to need. You probably already thought of this so I'm going to be quiet now. Keep the videos coming.

      Hi Nate, thanks for watching man. I'm glad you liked the video. And actually no I hadn't really thought of that. I just used the hinges I was given at Uni. I agree I don't want the door breaking off. So I will look into other hinges. thanks again

    Plywood but join for the box that will hold a lot of heavy tools? And two not very thick brass hinges for the doors which will too hold quite a weight? Is this what they told you to do in that woodworking school?

  • @okboston9086

    I've been woodworking for over 40 and biscuits ABSOLUTLEY ad strength to a joint, as you will find out in the future with some experience

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I have been woodworking for 8 years and I can absolutely tell you biscuits don't ad any strength. They can at times weaken a joint. I would suggest taking the time to do tests and experiments. but if you don't want to. there are lots of videos on TH-cams telling you why biscuits don't ad strength. check out 'Rag n bone browns' video on biscuit joints.

    • @markmaestas1129
      @markmaestas1129 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SeanEvelegh There are times when a biscuit can weaken a joint. There are also joints where a biscuit adds strength. RagnBone's test only tested small end grain joints. Hardly a thorough test. Biscuits have been used for decades. Used correctly in appropriate situations, they can add considerable strength.

    Just wondered what you use to stop rust appearing on your hand tools? Awesome build like the colour choice.

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Simon, I use Jojoba oil. and I rub it on the tools about once a week. I think i will make a video in the future about preventing rust on hand tool and machines!

  • @Tensquaremetreworkshop
    @Tensquaremetreworkshop 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So, you have a LOT of nice, expensive hand tools. And you used machines, biscuits and plywood to make a tool chest...
    BTW you may have problems with extra tools on the door- that weight applies stress on the hinges, made worse by having them in the wrong position. They should be near the corners (where the corner structure adds rigidity to the side, and increased separation reduces the moment acting on the hinge). A poster advises another hinge- do not put it in the middle, where it provides no resistance to twisting, put it at the top.

    man they build just cabinets with no thinking in advance for example building box bevor veneering🤯 and making statements that are wrong like lamellos doesnt have any strength but i like the end result
